When is your first prenatal visit?

Re: When is your first prenatal visit?

  • Mine isn't until 9/8 and I will be just over 9 weeks. I am going to be out of town at 8 weeks, they said I can go in before and see a nurse, but I figured they wouldn't do anything but tell me that I'm pregnant. So I decided to wait until after we come back. This is my second pregnancy. So while the wait is hard, I feel much more at ease and relaxed knowing that I've felt this way before and nothing is 'unusual'.

I have mine next week at 8 weeks and 1 day, (the doc does them betwen 8-10weeks) part of me is nervous theres gonna be nothing there, and then part of me is nervous for anything else they might have to do, blood tests (hate having my blood taken) and I really hope they don't have to do a pap smear again, I hate those!

But I am super excited to get doctor confirmation, I think just waiting around the house with only the home pregnancy test postitive its such a waiting game

  • I went at 5 weeks and again at 7w 4d and not back again until 12w
  • Mine is on Sept 8th. I will be 8 weeks 3 days according to my last menstrual cycle but I don't think I am that far along because I ovulated on CD 21. I don't know why but thus pregnancy everything seems like torture! I am so nervous about everything. I had to wait a week between blood tests and that was horrible! Now I am sitting here a ball of nerves waiting for my results tomorrow.
  • I had my first appt Tuesday at 6w2d, but it was just a blood draw and basic checkup with a nurse practitioner. It was very reassuring, though, and she was super nice! Our first appt with the doctor is September 14, and I'll be 10w1d. They'll do a bunch of testing then (I have to bring in a cheek swab from my husband because they test for carrier status for a bunch of genetic conditions) and a complete physical.

  • I had my confirmation and history checkup at 5w5d. I have my first real appointment at 8w4d, on sept 4th! Hopefully hear a heart beat then! My ultrasound has been schedule for 18 weeks.
  • I'll have mine a week from today and i'll be 7w2d
    Im so excited :D
  • Another September 8th here, I'll be 8w2d. It cannot come soon enough, seriously feels like torture sometimes.

  • I'm not sure on how far I am around 5-6 weeks and mines tomorrow! I was supposed to go last Thursday but I had to reschedule 3 times so tomorrow's the day! Super excited! Good luck everyone! And I hope time flies for you all!
  • Mine was today! I'm 6wks and 3 days. They scheduled me for an ultrasound on August 25th where if everything looks good they will also do a blood test and then I'll go back on Sept. 9.
  • So happy I'm not the only one playing the waiting game! Fingers crossed for each and every one of you!
  • I'll be 11wks at my first appointment on 9/16. My OB's office said 10-12wks for initial appointment with NP, then 4wks later (14-16wks) is first appointment with OB. I'll see my OB every month from then on (or every two weeks and every week at the end, the nurse said). First ultrasound at 18-20wk. This is my very first pregnancy, btw.
  • Mine is 9/14, and I'll be exactly 8w...the last 5 days since the first positive test have been sooo long That I know the next 4 weeks will drag by! I have no idea if I'll get an u/s or not but keeping my fingers crossed!

I'm also dreading the next four weeks! Ask your OB what their policy is. I asked and almost cried bc I thought they would whisk me right in and would be seeing my doc within a few days and getting an early ultrasound. Nope! My OB only does an ultrasound before 18-20wks if there is an "issue" or someone has had prior miscarriages or complications. They will listen for a heartbeat at my 11wk appointment (first appt) and do blood work. Darn it!! I'll take it though!! It's gonna be a long month............
  • I go in on 8/31 at 7w3d. Very nervous after some light cramping, spotting and my lymph nodes have been swollen for weeks. I had a MMC four months prior to conceiving. Lots of mixed emotions right now.
  • Mine is set for 6w1d, that's next week! Everything is just dragging by, I'm a FTM and I've had to call the nurses line for every spot, BM or twinge. LOL I even changed all my personal hygiene products to natural lie chemical choices. ( I'm gonna be a hippy mom).
The wait is seriously killing me, DH and MIL will be at the appt with me
    me (30) DH (30)
    TTC #1 since 02/2011
    Finally a BFP on 08/08/2015

Just had my visit yesterday! Everything looked great. Was able to have my first ultrasound and hear our baby's heartbeat....Yes I cried like a baby....just wish someone had warned me that the ultrasound was trans-vaginal lol. Dr. confirmed the dating and I am due April 7, so am exactly 7 weeks today! Go back for bloodwork and a second ultrasound at 11 weeks. My husband is on the football staff at the university in our town so had to miss the apt. but I was able to face-time him....I'm not sure who cried more haha
  • Waiting to see my doctor now, I'm 5 weeks today. I had a miscarriage in February so my appointment is super early. It's hard to be excited because I'm absolutely terrified!
  • My first appointment with my OB is at 10weeks on the nose. I'm so relieved to hear that others don't have their 1st appointment until 10weeks as well! This is our first and my husband and I are as antsy as ever! Has anyone had the Materni T21 test before? If so, at what week and what cost?
  • Mine is in a week and a half and I'll be at 7 weeks. The suspense is killing me after a miscarriage the first time. Glad to know I'm not alone!

  • I actually went to the doctor the day I got a positive - which was around 4 weeks!  I was shocked that they wanted me to come in, but they did all the normal blood work, pap, etc. so it wasn't a waste.

I have my "real" first visit on Tuesday - it's my 8 week apt where we will have our first u/s.  Crazy!!

  • 7 weeks on sept 2!
  • My first appt is next friday the 28th. they called it a "pregnancy confirmation" visit but i will be 8 weeks then and I will be pretty annoyed if all they want to do is a piss test. I am hoping they will make it my first prenatal appt.

  • My OB sees women between 8-10 weeks, the nurse made mine for 8 weeks on the dot, so 2 weeks from today.  I'll PIAC & blood work with the nurse and a trans-vaginal ultrasound and an informational meeting with m OB.  Hopefully we can see something on the ultrasound as DH wont be able to make it and I'd love to bring him a picture.
  • On Sept 14 at about 8 1/2 wks
    Married 9/17/11 BFP 10/5/13 DS Oliver Stephen born 6/11/14 via C-section 8 lbs 9 oz BFP 8/14/15
  • So I went in today and I really did not like the nurse that I spoke to, she's not my doctor, I don't get to meet her until next Thursday , the nurse didn't listen to a single word I told her and was sorta rude. She said I'm 11 weeks which is wring because I conceived in July.. We'll see what the real doc says next week.. Kinda bummed, but congrats everyone else and good luck at you appointments!
  • My First appt will be 9/9 at 9:00 so easy to remember!! But feels like forever but good luck to all you ladies ;)

@ENG0427 My first appt is at 11 weeks. I'm 7wk 2d now. When I called my OB for the first time at 5wks I was like "what do you mean I can't come this week for an appointment and ultrasound?! What do you mean you don't see women before 10wks?!" Lol. I had no idea. Anyway at our first appt like yours (it sounds like) were going to be counseled on genetic testing. We need to find out more info on the materni test. I believe it's done AT the 10-12wk appointment. Whether or not our insurance covers it is another question. I need to know more about the pros and cons before deciding if it's worth paying out of pocket for........
  • Hi Ladies,
For those that are looking at the Materni T21 test do u know if the doctors office offer those? I am only asking because when I was pregnant with my first those tests were not offered. My husband and I went thru a tough experience when we had the NT scan and they told us a bunch of horror stories because the scan was not good. So we kind of got scared into a CVS which I don't regret but would like to try something less invasive this go around. We had a healthy baby girl however it was a difficult time because we were scared something was wrong. The CVS did at least let us know and give us some piece of mind for the rest of the pregnancy.
  • I changed doctors and the new appt is on 9/3, 3 weeks earlier than my other one! So happy about this. I'll be 8 and a half weeks at the appt.
  • I haven't been able to schedule an appointment yet, it's bugging me a lot. I am 6 weeks now and I am so eager to get an appointment. Problem is that in Denmark you get appointed a personal doctor near the place you live and you can't use other doctors. It has never been a problem before except that I am currently around 5 hours away from home because of my new internship and I still haven't found a place to live at yet (I'm staying with friends) and I am hoping I will find a place within the next week so I can get appointed a new doctor and get an appointment. It's so frustrating but I am so excited about hearing my little Butternuts heartbeat :D

  • I'm so glad to see this!! I was sooo mad at my director for making me wait until 8 weeks (I go next Friday) I'm like "I've never done this I don't know the rules!!" Lol glad I'm not alone!! Every little cramp I'm like OMG what's that?!?! The wait is killing me!!
  • Mine is next Weds 8/25 with the NP at our office and I'll be 5w3d. I have to get an US then too, which I thought was odd since 1. it's very early an 2. I didn't go until between 8-9w with DS and didn't have any real problems with that pregnancy. First appt with OB is 9/22. Oh well! I'm excited regardless!
  • In two weeks, I will have my first Ultrasound which will mark 8 weeks of my pregnancy. Not really that anxious as I'm enjoying each and every morning sickness day, (strong reminder that I'm still very much pregnant)!
