Well I finally got the stroller and carseat compenents all together and decided today was the day for our first walk: three dogs on leashes, the BOB revolution and the Chico key fit carseat. It was going very smoothly and then one pup got tangled around another. I let go of the stroller to untangle and before I even fixed the problem the stroller and carseat were literally tumbling down a hill towards a pond. The carseat stayed nice and tight but I'm sure it would have been very traumatic had our baby man been here for the experience!! NEW MOM ADVICE: ALWAYS ALWAYS LOCK YOUR STROLLER BRAKE WHEN YOU LET THE STROLLER GO! Live and learn!

Re: Woops!! Hilarious mishap... What new mom advice do you have from mistakes you made??
BTW, the trunk of my car was the best place I could change my baby in public. You can cover them up easily in the trunk and not worry about what that crusty leftover stuff is on the public changing tables.
On a positive note- husband finally was more eager to began the new car search we've been talking about for months lol. We even looked at a couple this weekend. Guess he had just needed a little more motivation to get started.
Not wanting to burn her we ended up making the water way too cold. What we wanted to be fun and enjoyable was met with screaming. I felt terrible! Test the water with your wrist. You want it warm! Our other babies got wonderful first bath experiences in warm enough water needless to say.
Biggest mom oops was one rainy morning after a sleepless night I had to go somewhere and I needed gas. Ended up locking phone keys purse and baby in the car. FYI cops can't unlock your car for you.
At least this errand was at target so we were able to quickly remedy the situation. Definite mom fail.
- Add 10 minutes to everything. If you wanna leave by 10...you tell everyone 9:45 because it just takes that long.
- Always have snacks. I've started packing them each a snack bag for the backseat of my car because they're always starving right after school. And if they're cranky, it's usually hunger related.
- Allow for natural consequences. I only wash what is in the laundry basket...if clothes don't land in there, it isn't my fault. And if they run out of clean shorts...they have to figure it out. After one day of wearing what they didn't want to wear, I haven't had a laundry issue since :-)
I went shopping at the mall when DD was about 2 months old. We had the car seat travel system stroller. I took her out to nurse her and then when I put her back in I didn't strap her in because we were just walking around the mall and I would likely have to pick her back up shortly. Well, we finally go to leave and I click the car seat in the base and drive home. When I go to take her out of the car she was not buckled in! I had a complete melt down of how awful a mother I was for not putting a seatbelt on my baby, it took a lot to calm me down. It was an honest mistake and it's ok for me to walk around with her in the stroller not buckled in but I triple check now that her straps are secure!
And yes, I second the pack diapers everywhere. Or just make sure you're within 5 miles of a Target at all times. (This should be a basic human right lol) it's annoying to repack the diaper bag every time you go to leave but it's part of life. I used to keep a little list next to the changer of all the shit it needed inside it just in case some one else decided to do it for me (hint hint DH).
I think another funny thread could be about what mistakes our parents did with us! Since 20-30 (ish) years ago life was pretty different and I know my mother has some pretty hilarious stories! Like leaving 8 month old me in the window sill of a store and then seeing me from the outside while pushing an empty stroller!
