I know that with our new addition to the family I am really looking at ways to save money in a lot of aspects of our life. I figured I'm not the only one, and thought we could use a thread to share things like sales or specials that we find around. Stuff like Zulily specials or Amazon Lightning Deals or whatever. It may not become a super active thread, but at least when it gets bumped because someone found something we'll all notice
Re: Savings!!
Any other Similac formula moms out there may want to see if this promotion is going on in their store. If you have 3 of the coupons you can get one of the tubs for over half off. And its not like you're not going to need more...right?
For those mamas in New England, Shaws and Star Market both give you $5 off of $50 spent on ANY baby items. Formula, diapers, bottles, lotions, etc.
ETA: whole post didn't go through
1. Most of you havr probably already heard about it, but in case you haven't, Ebates it's an app/website that you go to and you can search for stores and they offer cash back on purchases, the site sends you to the store's website and you get a quarterly check. It's great if you do online shopping, sometimes it's just a few cents here and there, but if it's stuff you're going to buy anyway and you get a little back, why not?
2. Ibotta. It's another rebate style app, but for in store purchases, too. After you log in and create an account, you let it find your location by gps or zip code and it finds stores near you. There are all kinds of categories, the 2 I use mostly are babies and kids and groceries. You go in the category and you can search for products that have available rebates. In order to activate the rebate, you watch a short video (commercial) or read a recipe and it "unlocks" the rebate and adds it to your list. Once you've purchased the items, you scan the barcodes for all eligible items and hit verify, then take a picture of your receipt or with Walmart reciepts scan the qr code. It will tell you in 24 hours that it's been approved. Sometimes there are rebates for any brand of certain items (bread, milk, cereal, ice cream, produce, etc). I've seen formula and diapers. Once you accrue so much, you cash it in for gift cards or have it added to your PayPal account. They have gift cards for Amazon, Walmart, movie theaters, and other stores. Sometimes you only get 10 or 20 cents back, but it adds up. I've done it my last 3 shopping trips and I've got 3.65 so far. I know it's not much, but like ebates, I figure if I even can get a fraction back on stuff I already have to buy, it's worth it.
What are you ladies paying for diapers? Buying tips?
I read a blog post that you should be paying $0.17/diaper but that was an old post and I can't really get below $0.22-.25/diaper so far.
I also wish there was a local diaper swap or something. Would be happy to give all my unused Huggies to someone
The downside of amazon packs is that LO is entering size 2 and I have a boatload of size 1 left. That I'll keep squeezing her into for another week or so...
I did manage to sell unused size newborn on Facebook. A lot of towns have "virtual yard sale" sites. I've gotten lots of cheap used baby gear this way, as well as sold the diapers as I mentioned. I also swapped enfamil coupons for Similac ones I needed!
Maybe a little unsafe to give my address to a stranger but house sales are already public record... And I've only done it on a site for people in my town only.
ETA:
@KarasTwin I downloaded ibotta and it seems very addicting and wonderful! Thanks!
Always check coupons.com for diaper coupons. It let's you print it more than once most of the time.
