  • @themommabee I would be livid! That is so unfair and disrespectful for her to do that. I'm sorry it happened that way :( I don't know what I'd do about it, but I feel like you should say something to her about how it hurt you, made you feel violated, dishonored your trust, etc (whatever you're feeling).

  • @VitaLuna thanks for the support! I feel like I will have to address eventually. I am just dreading it. I hope it blows over quickly because this is the last thing I need right now.
  • My mother just announced for me on Facebook despite me explicitly asking her not to because I wasn't ready for it to be on FB just yet. I'm so upset not because I cared about announcing myself but it's just so violative of my personal space. I don't even know what to do. Husband says just to relax and this was to be expected because my parents are full drama all the time but I just can't get over it.
That is seriously horrible. Who does that??? I agree with saying something like, "While we weren't at all ready to announce this publicly, I thank everyone for their support! We're so excited!"

Get over it?? No way! I am all about live and let live but not when it hinders my own personal choices. For me and my wife, announcing was the most fun experience and I would have been extremely deflated had someone else announced ahead of us. Although, she is your mom so you'll likely have to forgive her soon. You'll need your mom during this time. But let's not be too harsh - how about a tiny wish of Diarrhea upon her ;) Just a little bit hahaha

I'd call her out on it on her fb post. "Wow mom I told you I wasn't announcing yet. Thanks for stealing my thunder!"
Man I'd be so mad!!! I would remove any tags and make her delete it!!

If you don't have too many of the same friends you could change your privacy settings so at least your friends can't see the post.

Sorry that happened though! Unfortunately some people really need to learn social media etiquette.I would definitely bring it up. Better to deal with those kinds of things now; wouldn't want someone else sharing your birth announcement etc. before you're ready.
  • Can I recommend the book "Boundries" by Dr Henry Cloud and Dr John Townsend?? Trust me it is worth it.
  • We announced on Monday at 15 weeks!

True Chicagoans always "gotta guy" for nearly anything you can think of. We happened to have a guy who could change the marquee at Metro for us. (Blacked out our last name on the marquee, for privacy reasons)

The Metro onesie is on our baby registry!  I love this announcement!  My husband I have a story involving me spilling a drink all over him at the Metro Smart Bar, and somehow, HE was was one who was asked to leave!  This was right before we started officially dating.  Great memories there.  I love this announcement!  Congrats from Bridgeport!!

Thanks, lady! My husband is a musician, so we have lots of memories from Metro, from his own shows to countless other shows. After seeing the same 2 year old with his parents at 3/4 of Alkaline Trio's Metro shows in October, we joked that that would soon be us!
  • mariaterasa81 I LOVE THIS!

    I may steal...
  • Need advice:

We have told our family over the phone we are pregnant because we live far away.

This weekend we were meeting them at a big family get together and this is the first time we will see them. We have been trying for a while and was going for IVF.

Anyway we just got a phone call from SIL saying she is pregnant with second child and is only 6 weeks! She will tell everyone at the party. It is our first child I think she could have waited don't you?

She did this when we got engaged she did it a month later and then got married a month in advance to us and then said on our wedding night she conceived her first kid...really weird.

But don't you think they should have waited to announce? They only had to wait this one weekend and I don't know why they called when we will see them tomorrow.

If your SIL wants to shout it out to the world then let her. If you feel more comfortable waiting then I would do that. Let her get it out and then when you want to say something you will. 6 weeks is super early for me but maybe not for her. I told my parents and siblings when I first found out since they are far away and so they know. I didn't announce it to the world until 12-13 weeks since this is my first and I want everything to go smoothly. It seems she is trying to rub everything in your face, married first, baby first, etc That seems to be the way she is. I would not say anything you feel ready and don't worry about her and don't say anything just because she does. All I'm saying after I ramble on is just do what makes you comfortable with announcing.

The wedding thing idk, but a kid I think is a stretch to say she's trying to "one-up" you. I think she was excited to find out she was pregnant and wanted to share. I think its nice that she thinks she can trust you enough to tell you so early. I told my family early too, however not my IL as they are not as close to me. You just have to do what feels right for you.

Wait, so she already knew you were pregnant, or not?

I can understand her telling everyone so early...Granted, I'm only on my first, but I found out at 6.5 weeks and told our families that weekend because it was so exciting to us. Don't know if I'll get a second baby, or if I'd want to share that early, but I do understand why someone would..

But I do find it odd she one up's you it seems like..Some people like all the thunder..
