Baby wakes up every 30mins to an hour ALL NIGHT!!!

LO is almost 6 months (next week) and has never slept through the night. The longest stretch used to be at bedtime for 4 hours then up every 2 hours after that. Now he's sleeping for 2 hours then every 30mins to an hour all night long. I'm loosing my mind. I'm so tired but not willing to let him cry it out or anything like that. I did notice he was eating over 10oz through out the night so I know he is hungry but not sure how much more I can take of the lack of sleep. I feed whenever he willing to take a bottle during the day so not sure what the hell to do. I need sleep. I'll take anything. Lol

My first was like that and I never found an actual solution. Somethings that sometimes helped were white noise, swaddling, putting a minky blanket on her mattress - kept her cosy and also didn't make a noise when she shifted around.

She would sleep best on my chest and i just went with that so i could get some sleep myself. Best of luck to you, that's a rough situation

I cosleep and breastfeed her while lying down. She sleep feeds around 2 am or 4 am. Did the same with my older child, saved my sanity. I also couldn't do CIO method, tried it and felt horrible.

The merlins magic sleep suit helps me get 1-6 hours in the beginning and if she's waking a lot I nurse in bed and co sleep. We've had a really hard time with getting her to sleep not in my arms.

We also do cosleep but the constant wakings to feed are rough. I was thinking about the magic suit also but wasn't sure it was too late to try with him or not. I just hope it's not like this for another 6 months. My mood is paying the price :-/ Thanks ladies for the replies!! Wish me luck and sleep :-(

I wear only my bra on top and just roll over and feed, LO latches on and we both fall back asleep. Hahaha! It'll get better, you're doing great!!!

It's not too late for the magic sleep suit. They have two sizes, Small (3-6months) and Large (6-9 months). The only condition is that they shouldn't be able to roll over while in the sleep suit; my baby hasn't started to roll yet but I've heard from other moms that even if their kiddo is rolling, they can't accomplish it in the suit. Also, don't listen to people who say you need more than one; we've been getting on just fine with just the one and we use it for nights and naps. I just wash it on Sunday and tumble dry low.

Ok thanks for the help! I will be picking up the suit this Saturday so praying it will help some NLB2009. Actually really excited to try it now. What temperature do you have LO room set to while in the suit? The same as without or a little cooler?
And it's so nice hear those words!!! "You're doing great" :-) thank you KD32412 he just started biting my nipple today... Any ideas on how to curb that?? I don't think he will do that during dream feeds but the day he did it twice. Ouch :-(

Our pediatrician had told me that we were over feeding our little one when we went to our 4 month check up. She said we need to feed him no more than 6 oz every 3-4 hours. Since then we have kept that diet for him. He wakes up every 3-4 hours at night to feed. If he's had a long eventful day he will sleep at night a little longer. His growth is on the right track too. I also know have a bed time for him too, he goes to bed at 10pm. I love having a schedule for him. My recommendation is to Try getting him to a consistent feeding diet to help with his evening sleep. No advice, just empathy. My 4.5 month old is the same way and like pp said, the only way either of us get any sleep is cosleeping and nursing in the side lying position. Developing bad habits? Perhaps. But for us, putting him down "drowsy but awake" just doesn't work and letting him CIO doesn't feel right. Good luck with the sleep suit!

Is your baby sleeping in the crib because my son does the same thing when I try to make him sleep in his crib. I literally wasn't sleeping at all for a month just a nap here and there. I gave up on the crib for now and put him to sleep in his sleep n play rocker snug a monkey and he sleeps all night except once to eat. I also add oatmeal cereal to his bottle before bed. I'll try the crib later once I've slept some. That's my only advice. I have no idea why he does this then maybe all the new things they are learning at this age and teething might have their brains going a mile a minute. Good luck!

No advice- just sympathy. My LO will be 6 mo next week and is doing the exact same thing. I also go back to work next week and I'm not sure how I'm going to cope with no sleep and working all day!

He takes his day time naps in the crib and I think he prefers it cause he usually has an hour to two hour nap but at night he's with us cosleeping. We did try the crib at night but he still got up every hour. Getting the sleep suit tonight and I'll prob wash it and try it out tomorrow. We also did start adding organic rice cereal to most of his bottles but that doesn't seem to make him sleep longer :-/ And the doc said he was good for weight so not worried about over/under feeding him.

My son will nap through the day in his crib as well but does the exact same thing at night .... My sister n law said her baby did it as well and then one day she just stopped and started sleeping all night I sure hope ours do to lol

Does he spit up a lot? Does he go to daycare? Daycare will help put on a sleep schedule if he goes to one. Just ask them for some help. If not. It's easy to do at home. (See some tips below)
My LO is 5 months and we put him in crib around 8-9 every night and he eats right before. Sometimes we give him a bath to help get him relaxed(I notice this helps him sleep longer). He will then wake around 2am and I bring him to my bed to co-sleep & eat. IF I don't burp him while co-sleeping, he will toss and turn all night bc he has an upset tummy from air. My LO has bad acid reflux

I would try playing with him, reading him a book, bath, then feeding him one last time around 8 and put him down. Hopefully he goes to sleep for awhile after that. Be careful with rice cereals(if not needed for weight gain); my pedi said to not do that to coax them into sleep bc most of those lack nutritional value bc they are bleached and striped of nutrients.

He could be teething and in pain. So maybe see if a little Tylenol will help his pain/mild fever(if he has one)

That's the advice I have for you. Hope it helps. Hang in there. He is getting older and it will change soon. You are doing great!

I put an air purifier in my sons room the other week and have noticed a drastic difference. He falls asleep on his own now once I turn it on. He also sleeps longer during his naps and longer periods through the night. I used a white noise machine when he was younger but this does the trick.. Pretty much it's a better white nose machine and I can leave it on through the night and it serves you purposes! A friend of mine has 3 children under the age of 5 and all 3 have their own air purifier in their rooms. She swears by it as well! Hope it helps!!

@mrsbrown211 how's the sleep suit writing for you? We do keep the room a little cooler than average at night but you can also just forgo socks, which the creator suggests if baby tends to run hot. I hope it works for you!

Hey! I totally sympathize with you. My baby girl was the same way for her first 14.5 weeks of life. I was a complete zombie. She wouldn't sleep at all throughout the day and slept maybe 2-4 hours a night. We then called Pam Nease a professional sleep specialist out of Kelowna BC. She does Skype, phone, and emails for people all over the world. She was a miracle worker. Our baby now sleeps through the night and naps three times a day. I do the same. It's the only way to get sleep. LO wakes up every 1.5 hrs or 2 hrs now. I thought I was going to go crazy with no sleep!

DS has been sleeping from about 8:00-11pm every night then he would hear me get into bed (our rooms are adjoining) and would wake up and only want to sleep on me for the remainder of the night until about 7am. This has been going on for about a week and I was exhausted. My local natural parenting store carries the sleep suits and even has a rental program so you can try it before hand. Well, I rented one yesterday and tried it out last night. DS slept from 8pm until 4am!! He then woke up for a feeding, then went back down until 6:30am. It was incredible. I still got up to check on him at 12 and 2 but i feel so much more rested!! Give it a try. It really was amazing. I will be buying my own on friday!

I wish my story was as successful as yours but the sleep suit only cut the waking in half. So he's up about every two hours now. But still waking up all night long. I'm frustrated and running on E every day. Hubby can sleep through most of it so it's making us (or me) angry and bickering all the time. I just want more than two hours of sleep at a time. Esp because it's so hard to fall back sleep after feeding or tending to him. He was eating about 10oz at night so I knew he was hungry but not he's eating about 6-7 max. Ugh I don't think I could ever do this again. Glad I have one child and it's worth doing it this time around but never again. Lol

I'm just a creepy lurker but I had the same issue and side-carring the crib was a sanity saver! Look it up on how to do it safely but it's basically just extending your own bed with baby's crib.

So an update for anyone who cares.... We stopped cosleeping because LO wakes up when my hubby starts talking loudly in his sleep(happens multiple times a night) so we have kept LO in his own crib which means many many times of going back and forth or just sleeping on the floor. So tired I'm losing it. But today I had a thought... Maybe my LO isn't actually waking all night long many he is having night terrors (like his father) because I notice the only time his eyes are open is around 4am and usually nursing and goes back to bed for another hour or two. All the other times I've labeled "waking up" his eyes are closed. This has happened during naps as well and I could tell he was still asleep but screaming/crying. My issue is how the heck do I deal with that???!? Cause letting him cry might make me nuts but if he's dreaming then there is nothing I can do. Lately he won't really want his bottle so assuming he isn't hungry anymore (minus the 4 am wake up and feed)
Anyone else have a LO who has night terrors??? What do you ladies consider as a "wake up"???

Aw I'm sorry to hear about the night terrors, that just breaks my heart. I have no idea how you could deal with that, maybe a sleep clinic?

If I see on the monitor that LO is making whining noises but his eyes are closed, I will go in and stroke his hair and whisper that its okay, momma is here as quietly as I can. I won't pick him up, and that usually works. I will only try to feed him/pick him if eyes are open and he hasn't self soothed after about 5 mins.

I think my son has had some nightmares on occasion. He'll cry out but his eyes will still be closed. When I can tell that his eyes are closed I'll first try either a hand on his back or to give him little pats on the back (he sleeps on his tummy now so obviously this won't help if your LO doesn't do the same).

If that doesn't help then I'll pick him up and sit in the rocker with him against my chest. Usually he won't even wake up and he'll stop crying after a few minutes and go back to sleeping peacefully. Then it's back in the crib.

Are you putting him down sleepy but awake? I think that plus sleeping in the crib in his own room were the two biggest things that helped us. Also, I highly recommend the site Precious Little Sleep. They have sleep guides that I've found to be really helpful.

My daughter is 7 months and doing the same thing . I feel your pain I haven't had a good night sleep since she was born. I'm so use to it now being a zombie is normal now lol

I didnt read the whole thread so hopefully this isnt redundant - but is your baby learning to crawl? sit up? etc.

When my son was learning to crawl he woke up ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL night long. Now that he has mastered it, he is sleeping through the night.

I think these little people just have a hard time turning their brain off. I would find him on his hands and knees rocking in his crib and crying. Same thing with when he learned to pull up -- he couldnt figure out how to sit back down.

It took a few weeks, but we finally have a baby who sleeps -- remember that eventually they all learn to sleep so don't stress too much about what you are or are not doing right!
