What type of pump?

I got a melodi pump free with our insurance and have been using this. However I'm pumping more now, and I am wondering if there is a big difference between pumps/brands? I feel my pump is "clumsy" to use,and perhaps not getting as much as a more effective pump ( I get about 3oz total from both in a 30-40 min session).

Anyone switch or use several different brands? Do I spend money on a new one?

I have two pumps right now. I rented the medela symphony from the hospital. It's awesome, but not portable. I also have the medela freestyle. I like them both, the hospital grade pump helps me express milk much quicker I must say.

Before you buy one, see if your local hospital rents pumps.

  • Spectra S2 is awesome. It's a hospital grade pump but it's very reasonably priced. I've had much better results with this than with my Medela Pump in style
  • I have a Medela pump in style advanced that I got free from my insurance. I feel like it works well. I get about 5-6 oz total in a 20 min session.
  • I also have the Spectra S2 and I love it! It is small, quiet, and very easy to use. It's also a closed system so milk doesn't go through any of the tubing which makes cleaning the equipment a breeze. I highly recommend it. Super impressed with it.

I get the same with the medela PISA. And very portable which I need for work.
