  • My mom and I went baby browsing yesterday. She picked out a crib and I fell in love with it, but there wasn't a price attached to it. I went online this morning and found out it is WAY more than I wanted to spend on a crib - even if it is convertible. Back to the drawing board..

  • My BMW goes out to my insurance company!

They keep denying my doctor's ultrasound request. My dr. wanted me to get an early anatomy scan because I have a heart defect in my family history. I originally had it scheduled for 15 weeks and the dr.'s office called saying that my insurance company won't cover it because I need to be 16 weeks. Ok... I change my appt. to tomorrow when i'll be 16 weeks. Been looking forward to it forever so I can rest easy and so we can find out baby's sex. Now, they say I need to be 18 weeks.... ummm then how is that an EARLY anatomy scan when I'm due for my regular anatomy scan between 18 and 20 weeks.

My appt. is supposed to be 9:30 tomorrow morning and now I might not be able to go. The doctor's office thinks it's ridiculous and is trying to request a similar but different scan that they hope they'll cover. I should know soon- fingers crossed!

I really don't want to wait another 2 weeks!

That really does suck. I can understand not allowing one for no reason, but you have a very valid reason!

  • My BMW is bc my H wants me to get rid of my dogs. I have had them for almost 10 years and love them dearly. They are mixed breeds so the do shed. I had them before me and H met, he knew I had them and loved them. So I am stuck inbetween a rock and a hard place. I have been a nervous wreck all day.

@skschnake - that is awful. I have had my dog for 9 years and couldn't imagine being asked to get rid of her! My sister is going to have to get rid of her dog bc it is has been aggressive towards her children and I totally get that. Shedding is annoying, but it is manageable. We just got a new vacuum called the shark rocket that is really easy to use and good for pet hair. That has helped me stay on top of it more.
  • I ate too much at lunch and now I'm suffering from major bloating and indigestion.  I need to learn self control.

  • Looks like my random nighttime itching is back. It was so bad last night that I couldn't sleep. At 1am I took a child's dose of Benadryl (usually enough to take the edge off). No luck. I tried ice with no success. By 2am, I was frustrated which turned into ridiculous pregnancy crying/catastrophizing. DH got up and brought me a second dose of Benadryl. I think I fell asleep around 3am. Needless to say, work sucked today.

Officially not getting my ultrasound tomorrow :(
The insurance company ultimately denied it because I'm not considered high risk. The dr. wanted it because of my family history but I guess it wasn't enough. I'm so bummed!
I now have to wait til I'm 18 weeks to get it done. I do have a regular dr. appt next week, so I'll at least get to see the baby then because she always shows me with the machine in her office.

I have this too! Mine sounds milder than yours--it doesn't keep me up, i just scratch in my sleep! And then I wake up with weird scratches and scabs on my legs. It's so gross!
  • First day back at school today... I'm not sure how I'm still awake. And now I have to cook dinner. I am way too tired to be a teacher anymore.

If it's the shedding, have you heard of the furminator? It's an amazing tool we use for three of our dogs. We live in tropical climate so my pug and golden shed badly all year. But once a week with the furminator makes a huge difference. I got it off ebay .

ETA: Please don't get rid of them.

  • @KittyCatKCCO @Jellybelly119 He hates the hair and the shedding! Which is understandable to a point. This is my first pregnancy and I have probably slacked on my house duties. Also, my little one has had some accidents in the house and H has no tolerance for it. I literally cried all morning. I don't think I could come home and not see those hairy faces. They have been thru so much withe and have loved me thru it all. H is starting to use my stepsons as am excuse saying the hair causes the older ones allergies to act up! I call BS their mom had three cats in their house! Two are long hair... I don't want to seem like I'm choosing my dogs over family Bc I'm not. I just can't see losing them. Thoughts?!?
Ps. A dog isn't just a dog to me. I am very very attached to them, as they are to me.

Then I wouldn't let them go. This makes me really sad and Im sorry your going through this. If you are really scared that he will do something to them while you are at work that is just plain scary if you ask me. I hope your situation works out. Im not really sure what else to say.

  • ^^ I agree with @ThecoffeeBunch. I'm trying to put myself in your shoes. But I can't. It's just hard for me to imagine it. The dogs end up the losers at the end.
  • This technically happened yesterday but I'm still cranky about it. DH and I went to buy our crib yesterday and he totally ruined everything. He keeps bringing up stuff that he knows irritates me and then gets upset when I lose my temper about it. He embarrassed me in the store and just ruined the whole day for me. The he gets over it in like 30 seconds but I'm still upset. I just wanted to enjoy this, especially because it wasn't even our money we were spending since my parents are buying the crib as a present

Check into some new shoes, I am sure that will help a lot, and like you said rest when you can.

If it's allergies it isn't the hair that is the problem. But I'd request a skin test for dogs and cats etc to see what they are allergic to before being drastic and getting rid of them :( otherwise it sounds like there is some underlying issue for him he's not telling you. Best of luck!
  • The dog ate my dds brand new ballet shoe! She hadn't even worn them yet fresh from the box. Sooo not pleased at the moment. The stinky part about it was they were in the dance bag on the counter. Oh yes up and away. Grrrr to the dog!!
  • Just grrr. I realized today as I was forcing myself to eat a lunch that just didn't really taste good that my 1 coke a day rule is kind of stupid. The max recommended amount of caffeine a day is 200mg and my coke only has 35/can. Why have I been depriving my poor caffeine addicted self when really I probably stay at or under 200mg when I'm not pregnant?!? I'm feeling angry at myself for not paying more attention and stressing over something that is not that big of a deal. I didn't screw up my last two surely this one will be okay too! (I say that with some sarcasm and humor ladies!)

Goodbye husband? If you're afraid he's going to harm your pets.... Not a winner or a keeper.
  • @skschnake I'm sorry you're having to deal with that. :( that would be completely unacceptable to me and I would definitely not give my dogs up, especially being that old. It would be hard to find them both homes being that old. Hopefully he doesn't try and go put them down...

I feel so sad when I'm at the shelter and see some of the reasons people drop off their dogs. Having a baby and can't take care of it, moving to an apartment that doesn't allow pets...

  • @skschnake, I'm sorry your H is doing this to you. IMO, when you get a pet, you are making a commitment to take care of them, unless they do something egregious like attack someone. Shedding and unconfirmed allergies just doesn't fit the bill. If I were you I would be telling my H that getting rid of the dogs is not an option so another solution will need to be identified. Like others have said, the Furminator or keeping the hair short may help with the shedding. If the kids are allergic (though it sounds like this may just be an excuse since it doesn't sound like this has come up before), maybe they can be tested to confirm this and maybe there's an allergy medication that would help.  I COMPLETELY understand the frustration of dog hair and will never again get a dog that sheds a lot, but I'll be damned if I'd get rid of one of my existing dogs for that reason. It just shatters my heart to think of any dog, much less an older dog, going from the home where it's comfortable to a cage where it will live until it is likely euthanized. I'm sorry your H is putting you in this situation but maybe you can come up with a compromise with the grooming or try to take a few minutes to vacuum each day.
  • @skschnake - I can't even fathom what you must be going through. I agree with PP that there needs to be a compromise with your husband and that the dogs should not be given away. If they go to a shelter they will most likely be put down within a few weeks, maybe a month. Senior dogs do not do well in shelters and are almost never adopted.

I came into my relationship with 2 chihuahuas that I have had since they were each 2 months old. They are now 12.5 and 10. They have a lot of health issues that annoy my husband but never once has he suggested we get rid of them. The girl can't hold her bladder and pees everywhere which because of when he gets up and gets home, he cleans up the kitchen where they stay, twice a day. My boy has really bad allergies and most of the time doesn't have fur because he scratches it off and gets nasty, smelly yeast infections on his whole body and deep in his ears. I give him a bath once a week to keep the smell down. Yes, my husband complains about them, but I have been with him for 6 years, I have been with them their whole lives and would NEVER give them up, and he would NEVER ask me to. As for the shedding, we have a husky in Florida, I know shedding. Go buy a furminator (https://www.furminator.com/) and brush the dogs at least once a week, everyone will be happier. If he still insists you get rid of the dogs, maybe you should re-evaluate him not the dogs...just my opinion.

You are scared he will do something to them while you are at work? I'm hoping you mean surrender them and not kill or abandon them somewhere but the way you are describing this man is giving me doubts. This whole situation you described has my blood boiling. If it were me I'd be hightailing out of that relationship with the dogs. I'm sorry you are dealing with this, but it sounds like you need to put your foot down.

Maybe the insurance is denying it bc the best time to see the babies heart is 22 weeks? I have to have fetal echo's done bc my daughter was born with a defect. They are always scheduled at 22 weeks. According to the perinatologist the heart is the best size for diagnostic at that time. Hope you get it figured out.

Maybe... but the insurance company's reason was because I'm not considered high risk.

My doctor wanted me to get an early anatomy scan because I have a cousin who was born with left heart syndrome. A regular anatomy scan is done at 18-20 weeks. This scan was supposed to be at 16 weeks. But, insurance wants it done at 18 weeks which doesn't make sense because then it's not "early"
Whatever... I'm now going to my previously scheduled anatomy scan at 19 weeks and just have to get over it.
