I still use Pampers Swadlers for DD at 2yo. Huggies and Luvs just don't hold her massive pees. She drinks ALOT and holds it till she pees all at once. Plus she has super sensitive skin and off brands give her a rash. However my sister uses Sams Club brand and loves it. I may try them for this one. As for sizes I know everyone says not to get newborn. However DD was in preemies for 2 weeks and newborn for a month. She was average 19inches and 6lbs12oz at birth she just has a super small butt and no hips
For little sizes we usually use whatever we have from the hospital or have been gifted. Once we start buying (or stocking up) I really like Pampers swaddlers. Once they get out of size ones, and even some before that, we prefer Luvs.
We used pampers swaddlers for the first few months and then switched to Costco (Kirkland) brand and love them. They are pretty comparable to pampers and cheaper! We still are buying them for DD.
My son has super sensitive skin so we've always used Earth's Best diapers and wipes. I also like Seventh Generation and Honest, too. Honest seemed to work better when he was smaller though (size 2-3). He kept having blowouts in the size 5.
ETA: definitely check out Amazon Mom and subscriptions. We get a great deal on diapers and wipes through them!
Asking related question so board doesn't get flooded by another thread...
What would you all suggest stocking up on or purchasing multiples of? Friend suggested multiple diaper bags, others have stated onesies in different sizes, Etc.

I don't really know why more than one diaper bag would be needed really. I know we've been talking diapers but I always stuck up on wipes too (the sensitive kind just in case baby has sensitive skin). We bought plain white onesies on a few different sizes if they were on sale. Breast pads if you plan on breastfeeding. It's hard to stock up on too much beforehand because you never know what baby will like/dislike.
We got soooo many clothes for our baby shower for DD which I was very grateful for but she was born in June so people bought summer clothes in sizes 0-6 months and DD was in premie clothes until late July so she didn't even get the chance to wear even half of the clothes.
Crib sheets like 4 or 5 lol, we've been through all of them in one night! We had 2 diaper bags but mostly bc DH wouldn't carry my girly one, a few NB outfits - we had maybe 5 and that was perfect, you don't need multiples of these but I'd really look into a sound machine if you haven't already it was a huge help with getting LO to sleep.
@ohbaby714 I see that a lot. Everyone wants to buy these cutesie NB clothes and nothing for later. Which I know it's not people's responsibility to prepare for baby growth. I've always been the "six months ahead" baby shower shopper. Find the corresponding season with age and buy a couple outfits for that. I'm already checking out clearance summer stuff for next year! Buying for Boy and girl cuz CHEAP!
@dragonfly321 yep! I've always had such a hard time with DD because she grows in such weird spurts. She is 14 months and still wears 6-9 month clothes and some 9-12. I love it when I find jammies on sale because she can pretty much wear those any season.
I always had Carters white onesies in Long sleeved, short sleeved, and sleeveless. They're great for layering and super easy to clean. Plus they always go on sale. Yes to wipes I have them on autoship thru Amazon. Also I feel like you can never have enough socks and they're expensive so if they're onsale stock up

Diapers, wipes (just know your store return policy just in case). Plain white onsies, lotions and soaps.
Ill be honest, I am just going to answer the question… I have only skimmed through the majority of these replies. We have been using LUVS this time around… they fit well and we have not had one blow out and DS is 22 months. With DS1, he could only wear Pampers. I absolutely love getting diapers at my baby showers because then you had at least one package of each to go through and find out which best suited that little babe. Since we won't be having a shower this time maybe Ill just buy a pack of each from here on out……
We're on the Honest Company boat as well. They are a little pricier than using coupons and sales to stick up on the standard brands but to me reducing my carbon footprint when it comes to diapers is worth it. SO MANY DIAPERS!! Plus the diapers are super cute!! I don't have a need to stock up because whenever I'm ready I have a shipment sent with enough diapers and wipes for a month. It's 79.99/ month. I will say when ds was a NB the NB size was too big so we used pampers swaddlers for a bit. If he ever does leak out of them I just know it's time to size up!

I thought the same thing when I bought stuff for my SIL's baby shower, so I bought a bunch of 3-6 month clothes, especially since we were thinking my nephew could be pretty big. Apparently we all had the same idea and SIL got no newborn clothes! She had to go out and buy all of that because she was expecting to get it at the shower lol
We love up and ups. My babies have been average to chunky sized, never had leaks.
My theory is - why not at least try a cheaper brand first?? I don't understand the logic in stocking up on the most expensive brands when you might like the cheapest just as well!
ETA regarding above. It could just be me, but I didn't receive a SINGLE newborn outfit at any of my three showers - there are a lot of ladies out there who do the six month-12 month ahead thing. Which is fine, but any NB clothes we have for either of my two boys I purchased myself.
I'd stock up on wipes, baby soap, washcloths, pacifiers if you're going to use them, onesies, burp cloths, & pjs (I like the zip kind because buttons are a pain).
We used Pampers swaddlers when DD was a newborn. She was born at 6 lbs 2 oz--super small and those seemed to fit her well. Then we went to cloth diapers when she was around 3months. Though, she kept getting diaper rash and you can't use diaper cream if using cloth diapers. So we moved to Huggies. I like Huggies because there are two types that worked well at different times. They have Snug & Fit and Little Movers. You just have to figure out which ones cover the areas best! Good Luck!
We use target brand for diapers and wipes mostly. Do use huggies overnights though bc they seem to work the best for the long night stretch. Will use target again for new baby.
Cloth diapers! They make kinds now that are just as easy to use as disposables, all in one styles with Velcro. Thirsties all in ones are the closest to disposables. When we vacation, we buy the touch of cloth disposables that are sold at target.
We used pampers the most for our DS. They fit really well and we liked the softness of them. We hated huggies as they did not fit him well and he constantly leaked. Luv's worked well, but they seemed a bit tougher on his skin as they weren't as soft as the pampers. Our target is a 1/2 hour drive, where as Walmart is only 5 min, but with all the good reviews about target brand maybe we will try those this time and just buy in bulk when we make a trip that way!
