I have a few questions about the drug Phenergan first, how safe is it (for the baby?) Second, is it normal to feel terrible on it?

Re: Phenergan?

  • Call the prescribing DR. It's pregnancy category C which means it cannot be ruled out as far as complications can go.

It's been discussed before. Generally as a rule of thumb doctors don't prescribe meds that harm the growing baby. Everyone is different, and we all react differently to meds.If it's not making you feel better maybe ask for something else? It can take awhile before anti nausea meds start working.

    ETA: additional link.
  • You need to either call your doctor or check with the pharmacist and he/she can also give you some details about the medication. Not trying to be rude but I would not rely on people from the Internet forum to tell you if a medication is safe. It's always best to check with your trusted OB/Midwife.

    Qfp
(Because it's been that kind of weekend)
  • I am taking it. It makes me really sleepy after about an hour and if I don't take a nap I feel like crap but better than nausea or vomiting. I usually only take one or two a day.
  • I'm currently taking it orally but I don't feel like it does much good to be honest. The only time I felt it work really good was through my IV.

PS: Hurts like ***** when given by injection I still got the bruise!
