Nausea Medication

I have an OB appointment today in a little bit, and I am thinking I am going to ask for nausea medication.  Anyone else taking it?  Is there a specific prescription you feel is better than others?

My nausea is really being triggered by a lot of different smells right now and I just can't take it anymore!

Re: Nausea Medication

  • A lot of people take Zofran. The only side effect I've noticed is constipation, which can be fixed by taking Colace along with it.

  • Zofran was a life saver last time. I have also heard good things about Diclegis but haven't tried it personally.

I am taking diclegis. I have taken zofran in all my prior pregnancies. Diclegis is working for me for now though and is a category A.

  • My doc office won't prescribe zofran anymore due to lawyers claiming it causes birth defects. The docs don't buy it, but can't afford the lawsuit so I got Phenergan. I don't like it cause it makes you super tired.

  • Try Preggo Pops! They are all natural and work miracles! I had to order mine online but several stores carry them. The moment I feel sick I have one and am able to eat! Plus they are yummy!
  • I take Reglan. I can have Zofran if I need it. I don't buy the lawsuits against Zofran. I took it every day while pregnant with my daughter and she has zero issues. Zofran doesn't seem to help with this pregnancy.

I'm definitely going to check those out!! Everything sets my stomach off right now and I can't take it anymore. I've tried ginger ale, ginger melts and crackers. Nothing helps. My doctor gave me a sample of Diclegis but I haven't tried it yet. Might start it tonight and see how it does. I've been waiting for this topic to come up. Thanks ladies!

Do you know which stores carry them? I've heard about them but never tried them. I've tried everything else with this pregnancy and nothing helps! I'd really prefer not to take medication!

Regular lollipops can work too. The only thing that kept me sane at about 10 weeks. I always had one in my mouth.

Seems like any kind of sugar helps me - I've been popping starburst constantly.

  • Zofran and colace twice daily with dd or I wouldn't have ever left my bathroom or my bed!
I waited far too long to ask for something so I say go for it right away Don't torture yourself
  • I got a sample and a prescription for diclegis. She said a lot of her patients really seem to like it. It is almost like taking the unisom/B6 vitamins together. It is also a Category A drug.

I got a prescription and sample of diclegis yesterday and so far this morning it's working!  I keep waiting for the nausea to start up and all I can think is why the hell was I so stubborn and didn't ask for this sooner!

I've seen them in maternity stores before like Pea in a Pod-not sure if all of them carry them or not or still do, but may be good place to start.

  • I used to take buccastem when I had severe migrane or IBS issues... but it has a major contraindication for pregnancy so just be careful and talk to doctors

  • I bought the Preggo Pops at Babys R Us, definitely helped me out a lot with the nausea!
  • I got Preggie Pops on Amazon:

Peppermint gum and popsicles have been helping keep some of my nausea at bay. I also bought Seaband bracelets yesterday and am taking Vitamin B6. It's not 100% gone but those things seem to help a little.

  • I took Zofran when I was pregnant with my daughter because from 7-12 weeks I could not stop throwing up.

With my son, however, I lost 15 pounds in 10 days because the vomiting was so bad so they put my on 2 different medications and I wish I could remember what they were. I still felt sick and still vomited a lot but more like once or twice a day instead of every time I even thought about putting something in my mouth or breathed through my nose, or coughed, or anything really.
