I'm not a big coffee person. If I order a drink it will more than likely be a Sprite so I'm not really worried drink wise. And when I get my coke and root beer cravings I'll just make sure to get a small.
@St0v3s there are caffeine free root beers! Barq's is NOT, but I think Mugs and A&W are caffeine free, same with Sprecher Root Beer (actually all of the Sprecher sodas are caffeine free). Also, if you have a Culver's (restaurant) near you, their root beer is also caffeine free.
I was drinking 2 servings of cold brew coffee, which I found out has 270mg of caffeine in one serving! yikes! I cut down to 1/2 of one serving , plus a cup of green tea. That puts me just below where I should be. I never gave up caffeine with my other pregnancies, but I'm being extra cautious with this little guy. I don't want something to happen, and then have to wonder if I caused it.
I'm a 4-5 cups a day person/ espresso in the morning. This is the hardest part so far for me. So, I'm down to one cup of whole foods half caffeinated coffee with coconut milk per day. I often feel so guilty even finishing the cup. Occasionally if I walk to work, I'll grab a small iced dunkin coffee with half decaf half regular and skim milk. I can't completely quit coffee, and I keep it under the 200 mg recommended.
I was a coffee addict but gave it up cold turkey while TTC (3 days of headaches and one migraine that had me throwing up) but now I don't really miss it. I tend to worry and Google a lot so I'd be afraid to have any at this point. But that being said, my friend never gave it up at all and is 4 weeks from giving birth now and everything seems fine.
@loveymay I'm in the same boat as you! I'm a energy drink girl, and it would usually be one or two a week just depending on how tired. I hate coffee, and j feel like soda is worse than an energy drink, and it doesn't do much for me. I haven't had any and I am waiting to talk to my doctor, but my energy level is so low I make some toast and I'm huffing and puffing back to the sofa to lay down.
Coffee has already made me sick this time around but need something to help me chase the toddler. I love Advocare Spark, I usually am good with one packet around an hour before lunch.
2 cups of decaf a week and water the rest of the time for me sometimes I fit in some almond milk ( paleo )
I only drink 1 cup of home-brewed coffee a day anyway so I'm sticking to that!
@jonesl12 are you eating a paleo diet? Me too! Love to share and chat as these pregnancies progress. I just started eating/living this way about 6 months ago.
I'm just having one cup of coffee every morning. That is cutting back a little for me. With my first pregnancy I cut it out completely. This time around there is no way I can survive without it. My ob has said its ok in moderation, so I'm going with that!

I've been doing paleo for about 7 months and so far I love it
