Opinions on changing pad covers??

I just put a plushy sheet saver down the middle of our changing pad. I figured I get multiple uses out of one product that way. I think that's what I did the first time around too. What are your guy's thoughts on the covers made specifically for changing pads? Is there any specific benefit you like, or just something extra to spend money on?

  • I bought one just because it was there and I thought "why not?". My sister (who has 2 kids) makes fun of me in jest all the time for it. It's probably the most frivolous baby item I have. I think it's cute and a minky material that's soft but it isn't an essential.

  • I just put a changing liner on it because DS screams if you put him directly on the changing pad. I think he gets cold. A whole cover is a waste IMO.
  • I have one only because someone got it for me as a shower gift. I haven't had the chance to use it yet, but I'm sure taking it of to clean will be more of a hassle than just wiping off the pad itself. But we'll see in a few weeks!
  • I wasn't able to find one that fit my changing pad correctly so I just put one of my hundred receiving blankets around it and then bought cheap washable liners.
  • We lay a receiving blanket down on our changing pad so DS doesn't scream when we lay him down. My husband has been peed on every day this week, he hasn't mastered the diaper changing yet. The receiving blankets work well for us and are cheap.
  • I bought a package of the waterproof liners that fit directly under him when I change him, this way if he makes a mess, it goes on that and not the actual cover(which goes with his whale theme room). They aren't expensive at all, machine washable, and they come in a 3 pack at babies r us. I love them.
Always hold on to hope ❤
  • I love mine! We have two so if one is dirty we just throw it in the wash.

  • Yeah my vote is they are frivolous, but to each their own, for me it really helped pull the nursery together! I'm hoping the soft material soothes little man as well.
  • Giant waste of money. the pad itself is waterproof and u can wipe it down. Silly. Imo
  • We have two so if one gets dirty we have a back up. We put a liner over it too. I just liked the idea of having extra padding and warmth for LO. We were really practical on almost all of our baby purchased so we didn't feel bad for this "frivolous" one ;-)

We do the same and the system worked out well for DD. The covers add to the decor of her room and the liners save time and are easy to launder and swap out with a fresh one as needed.
  • I had one with DS. If he peed or pooped on it i had to take it off and wash it and then it seemed like every single time I put it back on the next diaper change it would happen again. I got tired of having to wash it pretty fast and just quit using it. I didn't bother getting one this time.

I been needed to get changing pad liners because my LO has peed or pooped on the blanket I have down on top of his changing thing and it's a hassle to have to always wash it more than I should . I don't have a changing table I have one of these and you can take it off and wash . I rather have the pad liners that are waterproof to put down on top so I can just wipe it off . They have some good ones at target and aren't really too cold to put baby on .
  • I have them and use them. Especially in winter, it would get cold and I hated that other things slid around, especially in the middle of the night when I tried to change LO with as little light as possible.

  • I use the cover as well as a temporary over! Babies are messy!
  • I think they are so stupid. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't get it.

The changing pad is made of a water proof material. If the baby pees or poops on it, take a wipe and wipe it off. It wipes off super easy. Why put something on top of it that you will later have to wash??

    This exactly!

  • My liner is plush on the sides and smooth down the center for easy clean up. So far it's worked great and it's really cute. :)
