Where does your baby nap?

LO is 6 weeks old and I'm wondering where he should be taking his naps. He sleeps best in my arms but I need to get stuff done! I usually put him on the floor in the living room on a soft blanket but he always wakes up in a short amount of time. He sleeps best on me. I put him in the wrap most of the time so I can get stuff done but I was just wondering when to transition him to his crib for nap time.

Re: Where does your baby nap?

  • I try to put him in his cribs for naps. If he falls asleep in his swing, I'll keep him there.

  • I started putting my LO in her crib for some naps on and off around 6 weeks. She's now almost 9 weeks. The longest stretch has been about an hour. She mainly naps in her swing. Yesterday she had two 4 hour naps in that thing. You can imagine how my night went .... :((
  • At 10 weeks, I'm working at getting LO used to her crib, so we're mostly doing naps in there now. We didn't really start that until 9 weeks, but that's because we went on vacation at 8 weeks and I wanted to wait until after we got back to start working on the crib. At six weeks we were mostly doing naps in the bouncer or the swing. Anytime we would try having her sleep in my arms, I'd fall asleep too, haha - so that wasn't an option for us!

  • My baby naps in his swing mostly. Sometimes I get him to nap in the Rock n Play, but those naps seem short (30min). He also likes to nap on me.

My first baby was a great napper, but this one fights naps like crazy! So, honestly, I just let him nap wherever right now. He's 8 weeks. I'm think in a week or so I'm going to start transitioning him to his crib.
  • Getting mine to nap on the crib is nearly impossible. Wakes up within 5 minutes every time and won't settle back down. Drives me crazy
  • So far he only naps in rock n play. I think I will start trying to get him to nap in play n play or crib in a few weeks. Right now just trying to work on getting a routine established before I make any changes...
  • She naps best in my arms, the car seat, or in the ergo. I've been working on naps in the crib. They usually last about 30-40 min. I've been working on putting her down in the drowsy state instead of her being fast asleep in my arms. She naps much better when I do that instead of trying on transition her when she's fast asleep. I usually have to stand over her with my hand on her belly for a few minutes until she settles.
  • ^youre lucky to get that long in the crib! Mine only lasts 5!
  • Naps usually in the vibrating bouncy seat, but I plan to work on crib naps soon
  • I pretty much just put her anywhere. Sometimes in the pack n play and sometimes I just stick her in the middle of the bed (with all the bedding turned down to the foot of the bed so she is just laying on the mattress and fitted sheet. Sometimes I just put her on the couch, but I turn her to where there is no way she could roll off. Hahaha and sometimes she naps during her bath...she has started falling asleep a lot during her bath (takes after daddy).
  • Swing, crib, my arms, in a hospital style cocoon on my bed (never without me present, and always on the side that butts up to a wall...I do this when I have to pump and get calls or computer work done - I cannot get up to tend to him if I am on the pump so it is easier to have him next to me). Wherever he is happiest at the time.
  • Wrapped while I go about my day or in bed if I nurse him to sleep and snuggle for a long time (we practice planned, safe bedsharing), sometimes in a baby hammock. He's napped "with"  me since conception, so it's no surprise that he still likes motion, my warmth and heartbeat, etc.
  • I'm having this problem with the crib too...she's sleeps in the crib at night but during the day it's a no go so she mainly naps in my arms during the day so that I can sleep too bc she will only last like 15 to 30 min in the rock and play its so frustrating bc I can't get anything done!!

I'm having the same problem! He's currently napping in my arms...I got him to sleep, put him in the rock n play, washed bottles, and then he was awake! It's so frustrating because I can't get anything done around the house. I also feel like I'm not giving enough attention to my 4 year old because I always have a sleeping baby in my arms.

  • I swear this child refuses the crib every.single.time.
