  • I feel like I am constantly eating to make my MS go away. If I'm not eating I have MS, its awful!   :-&

Hear hear! If I don't keep up the eating I just feel terrible- and if I eat too much at one meal I feel terrible. Feel like it's a delicate dance.

Can't wait for the flu-fatigue that hits me all morning to go away... it usually lingers until around 12 or so.

  • Also, wanted to agree with the whole "exhausted but not sleepy" thing. Once I am up in the mornings I am not sleepy, but I have the severe physical fatigue. I -wish- I could sleep through it. But instead I just lie around and feel like crap.

YES! The eating dance! I get up at 8 and immediately start slowly sipping my chocolate breakfast milk drink...which is the only thing I can "eat" in the mornings. Then at 10, 12, 2, 4, 6, 8, & 10, my phone reminds me to eat. I groan...again...and go search for something to choke down.
What's worse is it takes me 30+ minutes to choke down a light snack. So literally an hour and a half later, I'm reminded to eat again!! UGH!!

  • Symptoms come and go, I know this....but my close friend keeps telling me she knows the day she began miscarrying because all her symptoms were instantly gone that morning. We've both experienced a loss and I don't have the heart to correct her because I know she still sad about miscarrying, but now my pgal brain is freaking out because I haven't been as nauseous today and I'm not as tired.

I know this is crazy, but I can't help it! There, now I feel a little better venting.

  • Anyone dealing with slightly swollen feet?
Is this something to be concerned about?!
I never experienced swollen feet when pregnant with my son!!

I had some pink discharge yesterday and it really rattled my happy little mindset. It hasn't shown back up and I'm guessing it is just because I overdid it yesterday morning, but in the back of my mind I worry. I took the day off today so I can relax. I've been going nonstop and need to give myself a chance to slow down.

ETA: I'm debating whether or not to call the doctor about this. The logical side of me says not to bother. It hasn't shown back up. What would you ladies do?

I had swelling with my son but it wasn't until the very end of my pregnancy. I am not sure if its common in the first trimister but it couldn't hurt to check with your doctor.

In all honesty your doctor is probably just going to tell you to take it easy and not to worry unless it is bright red or you are having severe cramping but I would probably still check with my doctor just because I know it would make me feel better.

I just called the dr and she said it's actually a side effect of the progesterone medicine I'm on... I didn't even think of that!!

I have a little bit this time if I've been on my feet out in the heat a lot.  I had major Shrek feet with my second at the end - he was born July 4.  Just keep drinking water and put them up if it happens.

  • Anyone else having horrible horrible itching?  All of my pregnancies have been itchy but this one seems the worst early on.  I might have to talk to my midwife to see if the amount of itching is normal.

Yep I got those Shrek feet in the third trimester and was only able to wear flip flops.  It started mid first trimester actually and I just kept drinking water and I was told to sleep on my left side at night.  I also had joint pain but OB said it's all normal.  It doesn't hurt to give them a call if you are worried though. They understand how these random symptoms can sometimes be scary.
  • I'm getting the 3:30am insomnia. I slept amazingly with my first til later. This blows.
  • Me too! I wake up between 3-4 every morning and can't fall back asleep
  • Me three! I hate 3:30am!
  • My insomnia has been awful lately too!!! I woke up at 4:30 this morning thrilled that I slept an hour more than I usually do. Sigh
  • So here's a new to me symptom: heartburn. I have never felt anything like this.

Last night, I had quiche for dinner (eggs, cheese, milk, ham, black pepper, red bell pepper). The only other thing I ate all night was a 3 Musketeers Bar. That was at like 8:30. I felt fine all night, went to bed at midnight, and as soon as I laid down, fire spewed up my chest.

It was horrible! I was up 'til 2:30 am googling heartburn remedies. I tried Tums, a banana, even water with baking soda in it (groooosss!!). It finally subsided enough that I could sleep, but here's my question:

This isn't a habitual thing for me yet, so I don't want preventative medicine, but I'm wondering if I could buy something to have on hand that will help if it crops up again. Do you take Zantac after the heartburn starts? I just want to have something in my medicine cabinet that will help immediately if I'm stricken by this horrible malady again! (Is there such a thing?)

  • More than likely the red pepper gave you heart burn later on in pregnancy I have to avoid all peppers because they give me the worst heartburn. I only know of tums never thought to ask to take anything else. I just avoid foods that make me hurt.
  • Ooh I had that my second pregnancy.  I was living on Tums.  Ice cream can help with heartburn.

  • Omg with the peeing already?! Like I have to owe so soon after I just went, and if I don't get to go *right* then, it makes the nausea worse.

And guys, my entire abdomen is filled with air. It's making it look huge, it's hard - like you can FEEL these hard giant places all over my belly when I am standing/lying down, and it just hurts so badly. I can barely eat bc it hurts. But then I get more nauseated from not being able to eat either. Anyone else? Any advice? Lying on my side is the only way I'm semi-comfortable, but absolutely can't do that all day. I'm getting desperate for some relief.

Oh yes! I have MS combined with heartburn, and sometimes I don't even know which is which.  I just want to gag and can't get anything down my throat. With my last pregnancy, I did take a lot of gas-X. I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier but I'm going to be stocking up on gas-X today!!!!!
  • made my husband feel it last night too - he was shocked LOL
thanks for the tip! i will double-check with my OB that he's comfy with Gas-X and pick some up!

  • My friend had horrible itching in third tri and we told her to go to the doctor immediately. It CAN be very very bad.

  • I also wanted to say that I had terrible heartburn all of last pregnancy. I have never even felt heartburn before that. The only thing that helped me was Perrier water (san pellegrino as well). We bought that stuff by cases.

  • I'm feeling yucky enough I might forgo the warnings on the zofran today.  I'm praying this pregnancy is like DS1's - peaked at 10 weeks and gone by 11.  I was 10 weeks yesterday.

  • I don't know if this was suggested, but I made an amazing discovery! The outshine lemon bars completely eliminated my --curled up in a fetal position-- MS. It was amazing. The only downside is that my son wants one when I have one and he is a mess even with the muffin cup trick.

  • Glad to see I'm not the only one randomly waking up early as heck in the morning, unable to fall back to sleep.
  • Anyone else burping all the time? This didn't happen with my first and it is getting kind of gross.

  • Insomnia, peeing at least once a night but the gas has subsided enough that I'm not in pain!! So so many symptoms you can have!! Due date question (maybe wrong thread) I'm almost 11 weeks by LMP but ultra sounds says 9, which seems like that makes sense as you generally ovulate at about 14 days. Do I still consider myself 11 weeks because that is gestational age or 9 weeks because that's fetal age?? Obviously 11 is more comforting and would mean I'm almost out of my first trimester. Had I not had the ultrasound I would be considered 11.....

I know symptoms come and go but how do you go from throwing up all day every day for weeks to waking up one morning and feeling perfectly fine for the next 3 days? It's like it just stopped. I am only 9 weeks. I'm feeling a little nervous. It's crazy... when you are sick you just want to feel better and when you feel better you freak out.

Wow. So yesterday I was nauseated. Today? I CANT STOP EATING!!! I've had a bowl of cereal for breakfast, and I took my bag of mandarin oranges to work. I ate ALL NINE of them, and a granola bar I found in the bottom of my purse! I ate a double cheeseburger and small fry from mc donalds for lunch. Dinner I had steak, masked potatoes, and sweet corn. I was just so hungry I cooked myself a banquet pot pie!!! I don't get it!? Btw I'm 11 weeks today!
Sounds like baby might be having a big growth day and you need the fuel :) funny how it can come in waves :) .  I find when that happens I'm absolutely exhausted the next day - my body is definitely using up tons of energy to grow that baby.

  • Jumping on the B6/Unisom band wagon tonight. I was prescribed Reglan last friday and its not working. I'm concerned that taking the half a unisom is going to completely knock me out since i'm already exhausted. If the unisom/b6 don't work Zofran starts monday

I take a full one at bedtime it's that bad.  And I'm up to 100mg of B6 (full recommended dose).  The good news is if you have any insomnia issues yet, this should help :) For me zofran is for the really bad days.

The nurse said to take 50mg of B6 but after stopping at a Rite Aid and a wal-mart i couldn't find 50mg so i ended up buying the 100mg and was going to cut it in half. I would love to not have to cut it in half. I sleep soundly for about 5.5- 6 hours a night, so maybe taking it at night won't be an issue and it will wear off enough .
