  • I heard it while we were out at the zoo a dad has a daughter named Jetta and I loved it.
  • I'm not a fan of car/brand names. Just my opinion.
  • It's ok but I tend to think about names as the kids get older and are in professional settings. Jetta just doesn't do it for me but it's your kid so you should name it what you like.

  • I think it's a nice, unique name....had it not been famously associated with the car model already. I can only think of Jetta John-Hartley, the singer, awesome name for her as a musician but I'd be on the fence about naming my own daughter that name.

  • I have a friend named Jettie and I like her name- its unique but still spellable. Very similar, but no car reference.
  • My husband drives a Jetta.

Maybe a better nickname than formal name?
  • I know a little boy named Jett ... But Jetta is a car to me !
  • It's "okay". But I think you should name her whatever you want to, she's your daughter! As for all the people always saying "when they are older it'll be hard to get a job" I disagree. I think as new names are coming in and more and more children are receiving unique names, by the time they are older, a lot of people will have different names than we do now. That's how it works. Names come and go. And names don't trump credentials on applications. If you like Jetta, go for it.
  • A name like that might even make them stand out and be rememberable when applying for a job!;) I know someone named Chevy and someone names Tanna, both successful gals. Their names don't define them.
  • My sister named her daughter Chevelle after the car. So, I guess I'm biased. But I like it. Any ideas for a middle name?
  • I disagree. I've seen recent studies about unique names and job placement. There was a woman with a far out name and applied for a position with a large corporation. When the HR Manager looked at her resume, all he saw was her unconventional name and he tossed it in the trash. Later, come to find out she was more than qualified for the position -- she had a Master's and tons of experience in her field -- but her name "turned" him off.

I to agree with this. I manage a subway and even though its a fast food place technically it can be incredibly difficult to look past someones name, especially when its a name customers are going to see on a name tag or hear being said. I've put some odd names in for interviews but they definitely didn't have the same thoughts going in as someone without a far out name
  • Jetta is not a name that would hurt anyone on a job application. It's not that far fetched or unique!

I say if you really like it then go for it. Strangers opinions do not matter. You have to call your child this for the rest of their lives. You might as well love it!
  • I wish everyone could find a nice way to disagree. Like geez. Even if you don't like her choice you could say it in a nicer way than just saying no or awful. It's not your child. So chill.

  • There is a prejudice in the form of discriminating against names now! Yes generations evolve but traditions pass down. Also be conscience of names that bullies can easily run with lol. Jetta the Jedi if they ever see Star Wars one day could be an insult or if she's tough she'll take it as a compliment (sarcastically). If you like it and come up with a neat middle name I actually think it could work. People sometimes forget cars are named after to people too!!
  • No, it's not cute. At all.
  • Jetta is a legitimate Dutch name. Pronounced "yet-uh". It's definitely different and would most likely be associated with the car model in the US, but I think it's fine. My best friend gave her daughter Jetta as a middle name.

  • I know it's a car but Mercedes is a very popular name in some places and it's a car too. Also Nissan is a name for some boys. Just cuz it's a car isn't a determining factor IMO.

  • Are you giving birth to a Volkswagen? In that case it's a totally acceptable name otherwise nope nope nope.
  • It is not a name I would personally choose but there are a lot of names I dont like. If you like it and it you feel like its the right fit for your daughter then go for it.
