First time away from baby?

My husband wants to go on an 8 day vacation, but doesn't want to bring along the LO, and instead wants to leave him with family.  This upsets me as he has not slept away from us yet, AND I feel incredibly guilty taking a vacation with a 5 month old at home.  Has anyone else been away from their babies for an extended period of time?  How did you cope?

    When my DD was 5 months we went away for 5 days.  It was tough but also kind of nice to reconnect with my husband and have sometime as a couple.  I also left her with my mom so I was comfortable knowing that she was being well taken care of.
