You guys are really inspiring me to get crafty. I've been told not to buy or do anything by my family so this seems like the logical next step to keep me busy. Pinterest here I come!
Working on a quilt now, but will also be refinishing the changing table/dresser that my parents bought when I was a baby to use. Also on my list: a mobile, wall art (with Photoshop), pillows, crib sheets, burp cloths, bibs, a diaper bag.....the list goes on.
I have spent the last 4 years supplementing my regular paycheck with two etsy stores. Finally I get to make all this stuff for myself rather than other people!
I just made some loveys (sensory blankets) for an Alzheimer's patient, and will definitely be working on a few for Bubbles. Next up- I'm hacking aden+anais blankets. Double layered for winter.
Can't wait to find out the sex...then the crafting will begin!!! Lots of DIY decor for the nursery. For a boy I'm thinking nautical theme. For a girl I'm thinking coral and navy with pops of gold. My mom will do the sewing though.
@adecembermom2015 those were my ideas too! Are you still planning on a nautical theme?
I made a fleece tie blanket for baby girl, but the last few days I've been working on this for her nursery, I love it! I'm so happy with how it turned out! And the dog seems to like it to lol.
Once we finally decide on a name (we don't know the sex yet, we try again tomorrow) I am going to get some wooden letters and decorate them some how, maybe hodge pog maybe fabric maybe just paint, not sure yet! I also an going to tie dye all of the of the plain white onesies I got! Just for fun!
I made this for over the crib, and will be working on a quilt soon! Also refinished a small dresser/end table and a changing table!
I bought a rocking chair I want to refinish as well as s dresser I want to plaint and convert into a changing table. The only thing is I've never done anything to this extent before. Can u tell me how u refinished tiur furniture? It looks amazing!!
Here is an updated photo of the quilt I'm embroidering. I have been working on it for a little bit just about every night. I have at least 2 other projects to do before baby arrives (curtains and paint a few canvases for the nursery). Any one else have an update for their project?
We are moving in November, so I'll wait til then to paint the room, but I'm planning on painting some canvases (all the artwork in our home is mine, so baby won't be any different. Haha) I found a cute poem on Pinterest that's a cross stitch, but I'm going to translate it into a painting. Everything will be gray and white and turquoise-y blue, with dragon themed decor. I'm going to make him a Jedi tunic too, to match his daddy's that I made for him to wear to the Star Wars premier. Baby is due the same week, but he won't go to the movie. Hehe. We will just take pictures before Daddy sees it with his friends (who are also going in costumes that I made). I'll have to see it another day. I probably will try to crochet or knit a Yoda ear hat too.
I want to decorate some white onesies. I really want to try stamping or stenciling them but I haven't quite figured out the most effective method for the vision in my head yet.
I also want to DIY mobile. I plan on doing a global nursery and so I want to do felt representations of ethnic toys (dahla horses and/or russian nesting dolls etc.). I may try to free-hand them if not I will buy a PDF pattern from etsy.
Does it count if you're buying the materials but having someone else DIY for you? My mom LOVES to sew and was begging for a baby project so I'm going to go out and buy her a bunch of random fabrics and she's going to make about a dozen bandana bibs for the baby. I'm stoked. Those things are pricey.
Once we found out we were having a girl I began my crochet projects. I've started with some little winter hats, and they go so quickly since they're tiny. She going to have so. many. hats.
I have crochet like 4 sweaters and a bunch of hats and I just sewed my first diaper cover (for cloth diapering). It wasn't easy, but it should get a little easier as I try more covers.
Hopefully this shows up, I've never tried to post a pic on here before. This is a banner I made for my nautical themed baby shower and will probably hang in his room as well. (please ignore my clockwork orange poster and stuff "> haha)

I made yarn art for my living room that I decorate for the seasons and it's also a place to put photos/cards. I'm going to make a smaller one in nursery colors for Popcorn for keepsakes
I free handed these on canvas with pencil and then painted them with acrylics to put on a long empty wall. I can't wait to get them up and see how they look!
Anyone have a good experience painting laminated furniture? We have this IKEA Malm dresser that we want to use in the baby's room but it's too dark! I was thinking a gray color.
Finished new little guys letters for nursery. Working on my toddlers name in sticks for his new big boy outdoor themed room. The stick letters take forever so they are slow going!

I haven't actually tried anything like that but maybe if you sand it down enough to help the paint stick. Sometimes places like Lowe's and Home Depot will have suggestions for projects like that.

I have painted TONS of laminate furniture without sanding @rmarie13 ! It's pretty much a hobby of mine. The trick is to use a spray paint with primer in it; it will stick to the laminate and prevent the need to sand. Rustoleum makes a terrific one, but there are a few brands out there. I learned everything I know from this blog:
It didn't include the link! Sorry about that, I just saw. The blog is livelovediy . com - just search Paint Laminate Furniture and you'll see the post.
I finished painting these canvases to hang on the walls. Hubby & I are very happy with how they turned out. I have a 4th canvas that I haven't started yet. Once we figure out his name, I'm going to paint that one with his first initial.
