Baby shower dress

Hey, ladies. Anyone have a suggestion for where to look for a dress for my baby shower? Target has a couple more basic ones, but I'd like to get something a little cuter without breaking the bank.
A friend mentioned going to Nordstrom, but I'd rather save that money unless I need to spend it.

Re: Baby shower dress

  • A Pea In The Pod is where I got mine. They have some great sales. :)

  • Old navy is where I got mine :)

  • Motherhood Maternity is the place to go, not really cheap, but they last, they're cute and usually you can catch a good sale!
  • I second Asos! I had to buy a couple nice dresses for events this summer and got them from there. Decent prices and cute styles.
  • I bought a plus size skirt from JCPenney for like $20 and a tunic from Old Navy. You can also go to Walmart and get a decent plus size maxi dress. They're only like$15-$20. No need to spend an arm and a leg for something you're going to wear once or twice.

  • If you have a Sam's club, they have cute maxi dresses for $16.
  • There's also zulily!
  • Amazon has some good ones for not too expensive. Plus if you have prime shipping is free
  • I also bought mine from Zulily!

I got mine from Target for $30. It's peachy orange with thin diagonal stripes. Target has some cute options online, too. Motherhood had some options, but I felt like most of the dresses therr had huge patterns all over (not flattering if you are not tiny) or didn't fit my E size boobs. Old Navy and Target had a lot more stretchy, colorful options. I discovered Torrid has some cute empire-waist dresses with room for a bump that will fit big boobs really well.
  • Pinkblush maternity has their dresses for $25 right now!
  • I got a super cute one at Walmart for $13 and zulily has had some super cute ones lately..

I second that- pinkblushmaternity.com has such cute stuff, and it's (mostly) reasonably priced!

*Sidenote: I've had this dress in my cart for a couple of days now but can't make up my mind. We're having an outdoor, casual shower in late September in the Chicago area. Thoughts?

Well it's cute from the front, but I can't help but think that from the side, it looks like the bottom part is the full dress and the white part is a shirt you tried to put over the dress and it just doesn't fit anymore. But personally I'm not a fan of this style of dress so I wouldn't be the one to ask lol.

My mother just bought me that same dress!  It's super cute.
If there's something strange underneath the hood.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  If there's something weird and it don't look good.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  Immediately.  If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor.  It's for your health and your child's.

Make sure you order it about a month or so ahead of time if you get it from zulily though.  I love them, but the times I've bought from there shipping has taken forever and a day.

It's true. I only ever shop there when I'm willing to wait. We have a wedding (actually 3 in the next month and a half) and I only have 1 maternity dress so I went ahead and bought one off zulily for one of the later weddings and I'll likely use it for my shower as well. I also bought a pair of leggings so some of my shorter dresses will still work (that's why I currently only have 1 dress lol - my belly takes too much of the dress otherwise and my dresses have become shirts!)

Thanks for the honest input. That thought had crossed my mind, but it doesn't really bother me. I feel like it'll flatter the smallest part of me (the top), while still proudly displaying the bump :) I think I'll order it and try it on- they're supposed to be pretty good about returns, just in case. Thanks again!

  • I second Hatch if you decide to splurge, love their stuff.  For cheaper, I have received so many compliments of maternity outfits (including cute dresses) I have put together from Forever21 things.  I just buy everything in large and stretchy material.  As long as you don't mind being a pregnant lady shopping along side 19 y.o's, you can find really cute stuff.

STM so no shower this time around but FWIW- be careful with ASOS and Pink blush. Some of their items are super cheap quality. You may not care if it's only for one day but just beware. If the price is too good to be true, it probably is because the quality sucks. I got down really cute things from ASOS when I was pregnant with DS but the quality was eh. I haven't been able to wear them this time around.

That's the link. They are super cute. But for me they are super expensive for a dress that I will only wear a hand full of times.

I just ordered a dress from Asos for a black tie wedding we are attending when I will be 8 months along. I would highly recommend them! It is great quality and fit true to size..just make sure you are ordering from the U.S. site because the sizes are different in the UK. They have casual day time dresses and evening wear and a big selection. This is the dress I got:
