Mom vs dad putting LO to sleep

Anyone else have the challenge of LO only wanting mom to be the one to put them down for the night?

A few times DH has had to put DS to sleep as I'm working (yoga teacher teaching evening classes sometimes). He has a super hard time getting DS to sleep or when he does finally get him to sleep DS wakes up shortly after I get home screaming and only soothed by nursing followed by snuggles with momma. We have been working really hard with not nursing him to sleep but doing a routine of nursing, singing, reading a book or two and snuggles. When I put him down he'll sleep a solid 4-5 hour stretch vs 1-2 hours when DH does until I get home. I realize that part of it may be my husband being gone a lot (he's in the army) so for these 3 months of life I have been the only real constant for him, but would love the freedom of others being able to put him to sleep. Thoughts?

    I was fearful of this happening as we have so many friends that struggled with this. We make a point of doing the bedtime routine together. I nurse DS, then DH changes him and puts him in his pjs and swaddles. DH rocks him while I read a story. We sing 2 songs together and then each pray. I kiss him goodnight and leave and DH does the final sleep part. If DH isn't home then I do it alone and vice versa. DS usually responds better when DH puts him down now. I think he's used to me doing naps so he often wakes up after an hour.

    I would suggest doing bedtime together whenever you are both home. Get LO in the routine of seeing you both. Then try again with just one of you.

    Same exact thing here except my husband is in med school. I try to have him involved when he can but it's rarely. I teach dance sporadically and it's always awful if I leave at night. You aren't alone.

    Thanks ladies! Glad to know I'm not the only one and will try the putting him to sleep together thing to see how he does with that.

    It is happening to me too she will scream until I give in and take her then she will fall straight to sleep it's driving me crazy but on the other hand it's nice to feel so wanted :)
