Washing Baby Clothes

Should you wash your welcome home outfit for the newborn ? Also, is dreft-stage 1:newborns, laundry detergent safe to use to wash the baby gear..?

Re: Washing Baby Clothes

  • You should wash clothes and dreft is safe
  • Loading the player...
  • Definitely wash all baby clothes, blankets, bibs, etc. before putting them on baby. You don't know what kid of things these things come in contact with before they make it home with you.

As far as detergent goes, I've never used any "baby" detergents like deft. I just washed things in the same stuff I wash all out other stuff in. So I think it depends on your preference and whether or not you LO will have sensitive skin, which you obviously won't know til they're here.
  • I used the Tide free and clear pods to wash all of LO things.. Blankets, clothes, hats, bibs etc.

Yes, wash the bedding and home outfit.

Never used baby detergent. My DD had very sensitive skin and had issues with fragrances in detergents, diapers, and wipes. The only detergent that worked for her was Arm and Hammer Sensitive, which is perfume and dye free. They also have a sensitive one with a light fragrance. My DD eventually had no issues with that one as well.
  • Dreft smells sooo gooood. We plan on washing a couple outfits, but not everything since we don't know how big she'll be/what is going to fit her.
