FFFQ - flame free Friday questions 8-7

We didn't have this last week and I love this thread so I'm starting it up today. Ask your judgement free questions now!

Ok so baby can taste some of the foods mama eats in the breast milk right? So if I combine some of my pumps does it taste funky? I've never tasted my own breast milk, is that weird?

    I went on a crazy coke binge yesterday. Coca cola ;) I never drink soda but I was craving it. Anyway, I had 3. Then, LO had the worst night ever! He would not go to sleep. He was just happy and awake... Until midnight. Could this have to do with all the soda I drank?

    Ahhhh well if that's true it really effected it yesterday!! LO was on crack! At least he was happy... It would've been miserable if he was screaming.

    I have tried a few drops ever once in a while. And yes it can taste different based on what you eat. If its coke and ice cream it is super sweet. Sometimes I feel like its bland.

    How long does it take for your boobs to replenish after a feed? I'm sure it probably varies by person, and I can tell when mine are REALLY full, I'm wondering about the avg. Sometimes when LO cluster feeds I'm like, "no way is there anything left in there!" She still goes back for more.

    I always wonder this too. During the day I alternate which breast I feed LO from and they never seems like they are full. But if and when (rare occasion) LO naps for a long time in between when the alternating boob gets uses, say 5-6 hours is the only time I feel "full". Overnight LO has been sleeping in pretty good spurts and I am engorged after about 5 hours of not feeding, so I always need to get up and pump. Need to build up my stash for when I go back to work.

    @lovethatcolosun I can pump after 2 hrs and still get something out. Its about half of what I normally get but I shoot for pumping every 4 hrs.
    I read somewhere, it was a bf article on fb, that you can get milk out after about an hr and a half of them being full.

    The LC told me it takes 2hrs for your breasts to replenish. I don't always have a lot in them though at that time though.

    I've heard to try to wait 45 minutes after pumping to feed, but that our breasts are constantly producing some milk, so baby will get some even if we feel empty.

    Do babies farts and poops start smelling more after 2 months? I didn't think that happened until they started solids. My LO gets breast milk and formula and as of late it's been baaaaad. He can stink up the house in one poop.

    Lol my LO has just started having some pretty rank gas as well. He will be 2 months on Saturday. He gets breastmilk usually but did have some formula 5 days ago.

    DH and I are losing our minds. We are forgetting things, losing things, arguing constantly over dumb stuff... I keep trying to be more mindful, but things keep getting seriously messed up. I'm sure it's stress and sleep deprivation, but I just don't know how to be more mindful. Fortunately, knock on wood, no big errors in taking care of LO (yet?).

    Do any of you have systems to keep yourself responsible? We are losing keys, jewelry, forgetting to close the wipes, driving distracted, etc etc. I suppose the answer is do less, sleep more... But I'm actually scared. We used to be responsible people.

    If it makes you feel better I never close the wipes and they have never dried up. I forgot how to get to the pediatrician the other day and had a meltdown on the phone. That was after I lost my keys in the house for the car. Was only 20 minutes late to the appointment...

    I've been told that formula can make for brutal smelling gas and poops

    My nursing bras have underwire...I tried one without and it was so uncomfortable. I've had no problems personally but the consultant did say that some women find the underwire restricts the flow. I haven't found this though.

    The nursing bra is for your convenience. You can stop wearing it whenever- I think I have later on when nursing is more of a morning/nighttime thing. I also will probably go back to underwires when I stop leaking. I'd wear them now but I get so sick of having a bra on that I choose the least bra-feeling option. Again, your convenience/comfort. It's not definitely going to cause blocked ducts, it never has for me.

    Oh, and my question: never in my life have I had chafing until this last postpartum time. The pads were making me raw and uncomfortable and I was so relieved to stop wearing them... and then I got the mirena. I'm spotting now and the chafing has started again from the pantiliners. Any tips besides monistat anti-chafing gel? I may be spotting for like 3 months so I want to get it under control.

    @virginiaunicorn11 don't feel bad, DH and I do the same thing. It's gotta be the sleep deprivation. Hang in there, mama! Ya'll just had a baby, moved back to the states, and had some major losses in your family. You're allowed to be stressed and forgetful. Hugs!

    @virginiaunicorn11 it sounds like you just have a case of baby brain. I had a hard time with this with DS. It happens. Sleep deprivation is totally the cause. My best advice is to get naps when you can, always put your keys (wallet, diaper bag, monitor etc) in the same spot at home, make lists of things that need to get done, set reminders on your phone, have a family calendar, and most of all give each other grace. Parenthood is challenging. Each partner will have their own way of handling baby, chores, and communication. Forgive each other for the small stuff and talk out the bigger issues before they become full on fights. It's a roller coaster ride...but it does get easier in many aspects...until they turn three. ;)

    I feel like LO can change overnight and look slightly different in appearance- taller, chunkier, hair lighter. So yes I'm with you on this!

    My kid literally grew out of a size of diaper in the 3 hours between feedings...it was so weird! Lol

    I was just having this same freak out yesterday! My mom is retired and recently a widow as of last August so our baby will be being taken care of by her when I go back to school in a few weeks.
    I'm so worried about missing milestones and that maybe she will start having a bigger bond with my mom then me since I won't be with her so much anymore. It kills me!

    My LO is 2 months old and has been rolling over since she was 6 weeks old. The doctor says she needs more tummy time to help round out her head but every time I put her on her tummy she rolls over. Any advice?

    Would it help if you put her on her tummy on you? My LO likes this because he looks up and we "talk." You could also kind of hold her in place. Mine also likes to be propped on the boppy during tummy time. Not sure if that would work but maybe the sides would keep her from rolling?

    Edited because of auto correct. Boppy was changed to nippy.

    Can babies get hemorrhoids? With the amount of effort and pushing she does to poop I always get worried.

    Do any of you have a full pregnancy looking belly past the 6 weeks in which uterus was supposed to shrink. I still look like 6 months pregnant. It's all round, not flabby. I'm 10 weeks pp and due to a vacation midwife appt f/up wasn't scheduled to this Friday. Now I'm freaking I've got a medical issue in my belly. Everyone I've seen so far in person is flabby, not like this. I stopped bleeding at 6 weeks

    Ha! LO turns 2 mos tomorrow and her farts and poops have been seriously potent recently. Like worse than DH. And that's baaad.

    She turned 8 weeks yesterday - and for the last week her farts have been pretty gross. They never had a smell before! DH keeps blaming me but it's all her! So weird.
