Random GTKY

Because I've heard so much grumbling about how unhappy everyone is because there isn't any action on here I figured I'd start a Get To Know You thread to do something about it

1.  What is your favorite movie?
2. Where did you go on your honeymoon (or where do you want to go if you aren't yet married?)
3. Mac or PC?
4. Do you eat macaroni and cheese with a fork or a spoon?

  • Here are my answers:

    1. Return to Me.  I could watch it over and over again.
    2. Newport, OR. We had to keep it local because we only had a short window before going back to school but I wish we had done a big vacation because now that we have a house full of kids a trip to Hawaii isn't exactly in the budget anymore.
    3. It's currently in debate because I've always had PCs but we are on the market for a new desktop.
    4. Fork!

@oregontrailmom Return to Me is one of THE most underrated movies. It is so, so good. I cry every time. And I love Minnie Driver and Bonnie Hunt. I love when they're getting ready for dinner with the priest! "For Christ sake, he's just a man!!" "Do you hate priests Auntie Grace? Cause if you do you'll go straight to hell." "I did not teach him hell you son of a bitch."

Man, I'm cracking myself up over here.

I know! It's a really sweet movie AND it's hilarious. I feel like so many people have never heard of it though. It's really so well done.
I think maybe it didn't get a ton of attention because it doesn't have nudity or anything inappropriate but that's another reason I love it because you can watch the movie with anyone, even your MIL when you first met her, and it won't be awkward.
Now I want to watch it again.
  • 1. So hard to say. I'm going to go with....... The Nightmare on Elm Street (the remake) best horror film that actually terrifies me!

  • @Bfavors Rome?! Ahhhhh, sounds absolutely beautiful. I'd love to see pics! Fave Movie: A Christmas Story, Alice in Wonderland, Wreck It Ralph, Fried Green Tomatoes Honeymoon: We were gifted a few days in a cabin in Pigeon Forge TN for our honeymoon and it was so much fun. Sometimes I get jealous of all the beach places that one could go but we really had a memorable time in our cabin in the mountains. MacBook Pro! (fist bump @AdventureMama ) We love the Velvetta cheesy Mac n cheese with a FORK. I also use a fork for cake N Ice cream. (Thanks for posting. I think everyone is saying the board is boring bc no one feels they can truly express their opinion without being reported, warning'd by the BG and banned)
Oh man, I had a love/hate relationship with Rome! I loved almost everything except they don't do breakfast and that just broke my breakfast-loving heart. I was so grumpy because our hotel put on a continental breakfast where everything that should have been cold (i.e. milk, yogurt, etc) were warm, and everything that should have been hot were cold. It was awful, so we found a restaurant that served belgian waffles and I was SO excited about it, but never was able to get one. Day 1: the waffle guy "wasn't there". Day 2: the waffle iron  was broken. Day 3: had a different server and when asked if there were waffles that day, just got a "No!" and that was the last day we were there :(

I was just looking through the photos on my computer of our honeymoon and I realized I was obsessed with architecture and churches..that's all the pictures we have. But I'll share one from one of mine favorite things we did - night tour of the Coliseum. But it was a great time - wine was cheaper than water, I got to feel like Audrey Hepburn sticking my hand in Bocca della Verita, throw change in the Trevi Fountain, stay up super late to watch an American football game at an Irish Pub (the only place in the city that was showing our team), Vatican, and mostly just walked around everywhere. We found a lot of hidden treasures just by walking everywhere and so I'm sure I got to experience more than the average tourist stuff. I also tried out Italian espresso about halfway through our trip and was obsessed. Coming back to the States and Starbucks was absolutely awful coffeewise.

    2. Paris & Copenhagen (plus Iowa and DC--ha. Oh, the cornfields!)
    3. Mac. (Turned my life around when I made the switch, I tell ya.)
    4. Haven't gone for mac & cheese since I was an adolescent, but holy cow have I been hankering for it lately... I would definitely go with a fork. I like to have strong manual control over my bites. Spoons make bites too willy-nilly.

Wow, that sounds like so much fun though, except for the no breakfast. DH and I joke about our love for Hampton Inn breakfast, its divine. I would have taken a ton of pictures of the scenery as well, I bet the pictures don't do it justice! I would have to have the full run down of the history before I ever went just so I could make sure I appreciated it to its fullest (because I know I have forgotten a ton since school)
