Nursey Inspiration

Thought this would be a positive and fun way to liven up the board a little :)

Post pictures of your nursery inspiration!

I won't know if I'm having a girl or boy until September, but I'll post both for now.

I love the paint in the first photo (the darker pink and light pink striped.. and the flowers on the wall)- hate the blue chair
Love the branch over the crib in the 2nd but I'd be a little worried it would fall lol... also  I love clouds but they seem a little sad, right? Not sure... I love the look but worry it's not good for a baby
i like the paint of the 4th one for a boy, accept instead of stripes, I may try chevron like in the 5th picture

Re: Nursey Inspiration

  • Not sure why the first picture is so dark on here but this is the room. Baby gets to share with the twins :)

The middle picture are things on etsy I just need to buy to complete it and we need to set up the crib (that we just took down 5 months ago)

  • This is the only pictures I've found so far to actually peak my interest, I would have brighter contrasting colors though.

  • These are a couple of my faves that I marked on Pinterest. I really like the polka dot theme but maybe with the wall color of the second pic. I'm so indecisive though. Who knows when I'll figure this out.

  • oh, I also have this cabinet in my sewing room that I repainted and plan on incorporating into the nursery somehow. Here are the before and afters.

That cabinet would be awesome with the doors taken off and used as a changing table with little storage cubby bins placed below.

I'm not sure if I am having a baby boy or girl yet so I have found a few things I like. For a boy I like a vintage woodland theme. And for a girl I starting to love the older wooden or metal cribs painted a bright color. Suddle walls. I have a small nursery so it's going to be tight.

    Edit for typos

Your Pinterest and my Pinterest match, LOL! We're having a boy, so I'm going with the vintage woodland theme!
  • @twindling I was thinking that, but if I take apart the top and bottom it'll be too short and i'd be afraid the kid would hit it's head if I had the changing pad thing on one of the actual shelves. I don't think it's wide enough either..my mom I think is going to force me to have a dresser/changing table as well so I figure I'll just use the cabinet for some sort of storage.

I am not sure if we will have a nursery yet. We are house searching now and most the houses in our budget are two bedrooms. Going to look at a promising three bedroom tomorrow :) I did like the white nursery pic OP posted. If we have one I'd like to do something like that.

  • We are having a girl and the first picture is what kicked off our theme and I just bought all the things to make the mobile from the second picture. Colors overall will be pink, grey, white and aqua.

I actually live in a 1 bedroom so I feel ya!
I'm going to change my bedroom over to a nursery since I want one so bad. I'm trying to save money for a house so we don't want to move just yet. We are just going to go with a nursery theme, do it up and keep our bed in there.

  • @robinj716 I just love the woodland characters. In theory I plan on doing a lot of the decorations myself for either nursery theme. We won't find out what the sex is for another few weeks. But I agree that a room/nursery that's easy to grow into works best. I don't want anything babyish.

  • I couldn't find any good pics but I love yellow grey and white with elephants for a girls nursery. My husband really wants whales/ocean theme for a boy. Or we may make the twins big kid room kind of oceany themed!

  • Idk what I'm having yet, but I don't want to do the typical jungle or baby animals nursery. Love these as ideas :)
  • Love all of these! So many of them look familiar from my own Pinterest board. Great minds, ladies ;)

  • If we have another boy we will just be keeping the same nautical/viking theme that the nursery currently has. If its a girl I am thinking floral and dream catchers....

I can't handle this. Way too cute. If only mine were a girl this time I'd totally steal this idea. But finally we got a boy. So what does a baseball obsessed mama do? Make a baseball themed room. Of course it's gonna be basic though. After spending wayyyy too much on the second ones room I realized it's just not worth the money this time around.

Disney nerd here.. most of my big items for the nursery are hand me downs so i don't have much choice in those colors and themes.. however i am definitely debating a big wall mural for one side of the nursery. my first choices are this Tangled scene for a girl and the Lion King for a boy!
ETA.. now, to find an artist on the cheap lol

I told H I want to do a whales/ocean theme for a boy or girl. I love whales and wanted to be a marine biologist when I was younger. In reality, though, I know myself and I'm not a "theme" person. We will just get stuff that is cute and that we need, and I'm sure it will fit together just fine.
  • Love all these nurseries!!! Not sure what I want yet.. The room we are going to redo has green carpet and my dad is building my crib/changing table which will be white.. I'm thinking paint the walls tan and incorporate green/navy decor for a boy and green/coral decor for a girl? I'm sure I'll change my mind 20 times before we actually paint and decorate!
  • If I have a another baby girl I already have these items in cart ready to purchase. I am looking at an all white nursery set. If it's a boy I'm back to the drawing board as I have no idea what we will do!
  • I know it's not feasible because a cot is way more practical. But I still love this idea!

Cute. But I'd be so paranoid it'd fall lol

Same here!! If my cat was still alive, she'd make it hers.

Aw my kitty passed away in feb too :(
I have two new kittens now but I'm a little scared that they'll jump in the crib onto the baby. They are pretty rough and tumble and babies themselves so I hope they understand.

  • We went with lion king for ds. This is going to be the nursery for the new baby as well. I love the lion king and its gender neutral so works no matter whether this is a boy or girl this time around.
Sorry it's so messy right now. I've been pulling old baby stuff out of the attic to see what we kept versus what we donated when we moved last year.
@g0lightly8706 check out fat heads. That is where we got our lion king decals, and I'm pretty sure they had a wall sized one. Much cheaper than paying an artist, and you won't later regret all the layers of paint on the wall :)

Other than the flowers this looks pretty gender neutral to me?
  • The mobile are butterfly's. And the yellow crib sheet is a very floral dainty pattern hard to see.
  • Mine won't get done until we buy a house or find a 3 bedroom to rent- even then I can't paint so my nursery is living true on Pinterest until then

But it's decided to a bedroom theme and I love it
The colors will depend on if I'm having a boy or girl, more pastels girl and more of the darker rainbow colors for boy
  • I love all the ideas and themes!

We moved in to a new home last summer and all the rooms are a nice neutral gray. Ours will be very neutral as we are team green unless it slips at the next ultrasound ;)

My husband says it doesn't matter if we find out because he's not painting the room anyway.

I'm looking at a white crib and will looks for safari animals for the bedding and mobiles. At this point not planning g on going too overboard...but only time will tell!

We didnt do a huge 'theme' with my twins either. Basically just got the bed set and kind of matched things to it. Im not sure how 'theme-y' ill get this time either! I just love those colors!

  • I don't really do themes I just pick colors I like. I don't like things that look baby. With DD is was pink and gray. If it's a girl again I was purple or coral. If it's a boy I like navy and lime green. DH would really like a woodland/hunting theme with a boy
  • That was for my first, I also have paper lanterns, fans and kanzashi hanging up etc e other decorations.
This one I haven't found out sex yet but I'm leaning towards globes or puzzles. I have a ton of each and can easily see incorporating them in the room either hanging on the wall or decorating shelves. I have most fun making the mobile!
  • I love navy & red for a boy or aqua & red for a girl.
