Re: Favorite baby product?

  • I love Tommee Tippee bibs with the padding around the neck - they catch all the milk from dribbling down the front of his outfit when drinking from a bottle. Never would have bought them myself but got them as a gift and now I'm thinking of buying more.

Overrated: Boppy pillow. Rarely use it for nursing, I think it's awkward, I wedge a blanket under him instead to get him to the right boob height. Maybe I'll use it more when he's older, for propping and sitting etc.

  • So funny, my favorite item is our Boppy but we FF so it's more of an arm support for feeding. More than that I also use it to sit on post partum and for back support when my back hurts after labor. I've laid my babies in it for reading time so they can sit up a tad and for extra support when they were learning to sit on their own. My DS even likes to sit on it when he reads lol. We've had this Boppy for 4 years through 3 births and it's definitely my favorite baby item.

We had a Moses basket with my first which did not work for us at all. It was so tiny and my DS could move around it and kept shoving his face in the wicker - stopped using it after like 2 days.

  • Favorite by far is the ergo carrier. I put my son in it well past a year. And honestly if I weren't 40.5 weeks pregnant right now, I'm sure he'd still be in it for various outings at almost 2! Planning on using it a lot for #2 as well.

Least favorite would be the swing. But that is only because it was just one of those things that our son didn't like, so we didn't like it because it just became a waste of space. I may feel totally different about it with the new baby though.
  • I use my boppy as well :) and love it haha same thing here, formula feed and we use it as support :D I must say, receiving blankets and blankets in general...LOVE you can never have too much haha things that I don't use??? Those small burp cloths. Not the ones that are big and rectangle but the ones that are small, long oval shaped...they are POINTLESS and good for nothing haha it is too small. Also all of my breastfeeding things. My milk production pretty much stopped after 3 weeks so all of my nursing pads (washable, disposable), nursing tops, nipple cream, nursing cover, extra pumping accesories are useless and now just taking up space. There are so many things that I like and don't like haha hard to pick.
  • I love my Boppy! It took me a few turns to figure out how best to utilize it for each hold but now it's amazing.

Favorite thing is pampers they notify when he's dirty lol and the useless product I hardly use it the crib! lol
  • Love the pampers that tell you when baby is wet. Love the washcloths I bought last minute that I'm using as burp cloths. The bassinet was a waste as she refuses to sleep in it!
  • Best: ergo carrier and California baby shampoo. I could sniff it for days.

Worst: baby monitor- no need to monitor a baby attached to my boob all the time. We never used it with the first either because we co slept.
  • I also love the Boppy pillow! I actually have two… The pampers that indicate wetness are great as well, we also love our sleep sheep sound soother! We also love our swing and are vibrating bouncer seat! He's only six days old so we're just kind of getting into trying everything out… I don't really have a product that I can say I'm not using yet.
  • Favorite has been the rock and play! After we bought the pack and play with newborn napper and he HATED it. Would not sleep lol
  • Sleep sheep! It helps me fall back asleep too after middle of the night feedings. Muslin swaddle blankets are great too, they work so well compared to the flannel hospital ones.

My bobby doesn't put LO at the right height for nursing, but hopefully it will work for tummy time & when he is learning to sit
  • Rock and play, boba wrap are my favorite that I didn't have with my first! I don't really have any dislikes because I swayed away from what I didn't like the first go round.
    BabyFetus Ticker
  • 3rd time mom. Some things I don't mind using off brands. Some things I find are worth the extra couple dollars.
Baby magic. I refuse anything else because I love the smell! (Anything else would work just fine and if I had to use something else no big deal..)
Huggies.. Diapers and wet wipes. They prevent leaks and uh ohs better then any other diaper. And the wet wipes are soft and work so much better.
    Butt paste. Works wonders!
Purex. The smell is amazing. The stain fighting and removing ability is amazing.
  • @zmombie what is baby magic? Do you mean the Boudreaux butt paste? I got some at my shower but haven't used it yet… As my son is only six days old
  • My two favorite items are my rock n play and my nesting days carrier. Rock n play because he'll actually sleep in it (unlike his crib, pack n play or anything else we've tried) and the carrier because it is so easy to use and soothes LO almost immediately. Perfect for newborns!

My pack n play so far has been totally useless since baby hates it. It also takes up so much room! Hopefully he will use it when he's older!

Yes that's the one. It's amazing stuff!
And baby magic is baby wash. Like johnson and Johnson, but smells so good.
  • Favorites: rock and play sleeper, our Chicco key fit 30 car seat and stroller caddy, and Bebe au lait swaddle blankets- the softest ones out there...better than Aden and anais in my opinion

Haven't used: swing or bouncy seat- might just be our babe's preferences though :)

I also have the key fit 30 and absolutely love it! I had chosen a different one but when we got to the store this one had a huge discount and decided to buy it instead and I think is a lot safer than the evenflo one.

Anyway, my favourite baby items. Ergobaby and my Dr. Seuss diaper bag!
  • So after reading all you ladies favs I went out and got a rock and play....it is amazing! I would have to say the rock and play and my boba carrier are my two things I can't live without. I don't anywhere without my boba! Oh I also have a diaper caddy that I LOVE it is so nice having everything in one place and can carry it into whatever room I need. Something I could live without is bouncy seat LO hates it, but maybe he will like it eventually.
  • Loving the Halo swaddle sack! She can't kick it off and seems to sleep better with it (so we have made it night time only....want to encourage the longer sleeps at night, lol).
She currently hated the swing...but maybe she'll like it as she gets older. :-)

Favorite thing EVER - the Windi!! This is our third baby and the poor girl just has such a hard time getting the gas out. I spend so much time burping her and it's just not enough; this thing gets all the gas out in like 30 seconds and we no longer have a cranky baby. If your baby seems "colicky" in the evenings you have to give them a shot.
  • My favorite thing so far is my muslin swaddle blankets. They aren't too thick with it being so hot. I also have some diaper rash ointment that cleared him up within the next diaper change. He only had one little spot that was red. My sister got it from a local pharmacy in her town who makes it. That's stuff works wonders!
  • Favorite things- rock n play (that's all she sleeps in) draft laundry detergent I love the way it smells! And buttpaste my BF fav thing is his man pack diaper bag he loves it and when we all go out I don't have to carry my bag which makes things easier for me!!
Things I haven't used- pack n play and my LO also isn't a really big fan of her swing she goes in it for 20 mins then gets sick of it and wants out! I can't wait to use my Tula though

Oo I need to look into this. My baby girl doesn't usually have a hard time burping.. But some times she won't burp. Then she gets fussy. It's not all the time but it would def be great to have something to eliminate this.
  • @crf4 I've never heard of that!! My baby is super hard go burp and we wind up using gripe water a lot for her gas, I'm looking it up!

My lactation consultant told me that if latch is good & suckle is effective on the breast They may not always have much to burp because they are not taking in air. She said its most important after bottle feeding. My one week old son is a little fart machine too!! X_X
  • Oh yeah...BTW if you use Pandora for music & haven't discovered Their various lullabye stations you should check it out!
  • I also have a rock and play that I love. However, my motor went out on it 3 days ago. I contacted the manufacturer and they are replacing the part, hopefully it gets here soon!

I'm also breastfeeding and was really struggling with cracked and scabbed nipples and a lot of pain. I was ready to give up, but my sister in law told me about this cream that her doctor prescribes for her. We now call it "nipple crack".....this stuff is amazing! (I attached a picture with the cream ingredients-- the nurse at my OBGYN's office prescribed it for me!)

One thing I don't use and probably never will-- the bottle warmer! image
  • Any one have, love & use a wipe warmer? My son hates the cold wipes… I try to kind of take the chill off of them by rubbing them in my hands

Good question! I have the same experience...
  • @ecloho @hankhunter with our first, my sil gave us hers that she never used, who I'm pretty sure got it from someone who never used it also. And then we ended up donating it lol! It was never practical for us and baby gets used to the cold wipes. That's my experience anyway
  • @ecloho we NEVER used our wipe warmer it just wasn't practical for us to take it with us. I'm not going to whip out my wipe warmer at the mall. I will lay out 3 or 4 wipes on my legs while I'm changing our little boy it takes the chill out.
  • Don't give up on your swings and bouncy chairs - for the first 5 or so weeks, lo screamed like she was being stabbed in both.  Now she'll usually sit on the floor beside us at the dinner table for 30 + minutes in the chair, and the swing is good for 20 minutes of mommy getting something done around the house, even though she won't let herself sleep in it.
  • Love the Rock and Play, Boba wrap, Muslin swaddle blankets, and Triple Paste diaper rash cream!
  • I agree with @CanadaMom17 my one week old baby Reign loves his swing and bouncers! He has 2 bouncers both vibrate, one makes music & nature sounds too. We thought of taking one back when we ended up with two… But I like having one out in the living room or dining room and then one in the nursery to put him in while I am pumping
  • Oh. And the swaddle me. It's saved me big time lol
