Smelly vagina.

This is gross, I know! Does anyone else have a different smell coming from down there? I mean, it's not exactly stinky, just an odor. Obviously I'm having some discharge, is that what's causing it??? Is this normal?

  • Yes, it's normal. I've heard this from lots of friends who've been pregnant. Lovely hormones. Summers eve shower gel and feminine sprays work really well
  • @komorebi That made me laugh because I used to work in a bar and always smelled like fried foods when I came home. It always grossed me out and I still have nightmares about it. haha

  • Yep, I've noticed it practically from the beginning! Pantiliners help a ton for me.
  • You're not alone! It's not AWFUL but it's definitely noticeable to me at least. You could always take a half shower to clean up if you're feeling particularly stinky, or unclean. Also, you could try using the bathroom fresh wipes. Works a little better than TP and is gentler when using the bathroom so much. :)
  • Yep, it's different.
  • Had this first pregnancy, but not so much this time around.  I would say it is normal though because I never had an infection or anything!

Yep. Had it with my first pregnancy and it was more apparent in the third trimester. Went away thankfully after I was all healed down there;) It's happening again this time around too. Unless it's fishy smelling or more putrid, I think you're fine. Always want to rule out any infection w your OB, but in my experience, this is a normal fun part of pregnancy.
  • Phew! Thanks ladies! Good to know I'm not alone. I did get some feminine wipes to use, which helps! Been using panty liners too, but notice that's when the smell is more noticeable. Catch 22 I suppose!
And I compare mine to dog food... Lol. What the?!?

    Thanks again!!!!!

Weird! I notice that my liners smell obviously, but I don't smell it on myself or my clothes like I was before.

  • Yeah.  It's normal, but I can smell it if I'm going to the bathroom or sitting indian-style in a chair.  I don't think anyone else can smell it, but it grosses me out.  I wash more vigilantly than ever! lol  Wait until the locchia post partum.  That stuff stinks, too. :(

  • Thank you so much for posting this!!
I've been so worried that it's just me. I've been feeling really insecure about my smell. Never had any vaginal odors before, was getting really worried about it. No matter how much I clean myself, been feeling 'dirty & stinky'.

Again, thanks for posting. I feel so much better now.
    Thanks :) >:D<
  • OMG it is times like these that I am sort if glad I lost my sense of smell 20 years ago! I can't stop laughing though! These posts are amazing! KFC biscuits and dog food? Really? I'm dying here
  • I've been insecure about this all week! We were camping and I swore I stunk to high hell but when I asked my sister she said she couldn't smell anything. I took a shower in the morning and one at night and a couple 'ho baths' in between on top of using wipes instead of TP! The other issue I'm having is my hormones overriding my deodorant. My midwife said its normal for some but I didn't have this problem with DD! Now I've switched to Mitchum deodorant and its holding up. DH says everything smells like normal to him and that makes me feel a little better but not much.
  • I can't tell if it's my vag or my feet!!
  • Smells are normal. And as long as your discharge isn't green or yellow you are fine. All my panties are ruined. Waiting to buy more until after delivery bc panty liners just aren't sticky enough to not flip over on me during my daily tasks
