@cattlebride what a great GTKY question! I love hearing about everyone's weddings!
1. How old were you and dh/so when you got married.
I was 25 and dh 28, we had been dating almost 2 years when we got married.
2. What was something special or unique about your wedding day.
My dh and I got married in the same catholic church my parents did, and also had our reception at the same location that theirs was held.
3. Any screwups or funny anecdotes?
The day was pretty perfect for the most part! We ended up with not the right amount of boutonnieres and corsages for our parents, so some of our other greeters and wedding readers had to sacrifice theirs to give to our parents. The only other thing was that the microphone system didn't work at our reception location, so everyone had to yell to give their speeches! One funny thing that happened during the garter auction was one of our friends that was doing the auctioning was standing on the tables and jumping from table to table to get the peoples bids! But in the end no tables were harmed and everyone had a great time!
4. Describe your venue?
Our ceremony was at the Catholic church I grew up attending and also the same church my parents were married in. Our reception was at the gun club, which sounds odd, but it was a great space to hold 300 people, as our town is fairly small and we are limited to locations that can hold that many people. It also had a great outdoor space that we used for outdoor games, like xl- sized jenga, and bean bag boards.
5. Pictures please! (If you are OK with sharing) .
Forgive me for all the pictures, I just couldn't decide which ones to share! I loved how our photographer captured our special day!
1. How old were you and dh/so when you got married. We were both 32
2. What was something special or unique about your wedding day- My niece sang "Faithfully" during the sand ceremony and it was amazing! My 13 year old son and my dad walked me down the isle together.
3. Any screwups or funny anecdotes? - Our DJ was awful! He kept losing his internet connection during the reception.
4. Describe your venue? We got married at the Gaylord Texan. It's a large resort hotel.
5. Pictures please! (If you are OK with sharing) . These are the only ones I have here....there were so many great ones!
I just have to say, as a wedding photographer, I'm loving seeing everyone's photos! This combines my two favorite things..weddings and babies! So...thanks to the OP for starting
1. How old were you and dh/so when you got married.
I was 22 and DH was 23
2. What was something special or unique about your wedding day.
My great grandfather is who married us Also, not ON our wedding day, but the day after our wedding at the airport on the way to Hawaii, DH got the call from his Commanding Officer about his 12 month deployment to Afghanistan and would be leaving for training exactly 30 days later.
3. Any screwups or funny anecdotes? I was 45 minutes late lol
4. Describe your venue? Very traditional, lots of windows, in the middle of the woods, so lots of trees
1. How old were you and dh/so when you got married? I was 20 DH was 23
2. What was something special or unique about your wedding day? Hmmm. Well he was home during block leave (Army AIT home for the Holidays) and his whole family and my whole family squeezed into a tiny conference room at the court house.
3. Any screwups or funny anecdotes? All the screwups. Anything that could go wrong did. We were late, my dress ripped, my heal broke, my brothers flight was late (but he did fly in from Germany), the judge refused to marry us and had to find another judge to do it ( he refused to give a reason so im not going to make assumptions as to why). It was just a hot mess. Haha.
4. Describe your venue? Bibb County Courthouse Macon Ga. Haha. Half way between our two families.
5. Pictures please! (If you are OK with sharing) . My mobile app wont let me attach a picture. Merp-.- but i did wear a white dress and he wore his dress uniform.:)
1. How old were you and dh/so when you got married.
I was 22, he was 24. Looking at 12 years this fall.
2. What was something special or unique about your wedding day.
It was a year to the day from when we started dating. He had to wait until I graduated his Marine Corps Instructor of Water Survival course to ask me to the USMC Birthday Ball, otherwise it would've been fraternization.
3. Any screwups or funny anecdotes?
We just grabbed two drunk LCpl barracks rats to be our witnesses.
4. Describe your venue?
Jacksonville County Courthouse a few miles off base.
5. Pictures please! (If you are OK with sharing)
We're pretty low-key people. Didn't take any wedding day pics. Here's a bunch from over the years instead.
1. How old were you and dh/so when you got married. Me: 28 DH: 27 (Just last month!!)
2. What was something special or unique about your wedding day. We were married on the beach of the Outer Banks. It rained right beforehand, but stopped for literally only 20 minutes... just enough time to get out to the beach, say our "I Do's" and run back inside!
3. Any screwups or funny anecdotes? Not necessarily funny, but I began having a MC just four days prior to the wedding. It put SUCH a damper on our day, but saying our vows? So powerful. Talking about being there in the good times and the bad, had meaning. Deep, deep meaning when we said those words. It was powerful.
4. Describe your venue? Toes in the sand! OBX!
5. Pictures please! (If you are OK with sharing) .
1. How old were you and dh/so when you got married. I was 19, but only two days away from turning 20 and DH was 20. We have been together since we were fourteen! Going on 7 years now. 2. What was something special or unique about your wedding day. Hmm, my mom passed away a month and a half before my wedding so it was a very emotional time. I also had tons of drama with my bridesmaids 3. Any screwups or funny anecdotes? So many screwups made by me hahaha I was so nervous and I messed up the words our pastor was telling me to say and said words at the wrong time. We also started walking off stage before he said you may kiss the bride haha (because we didn't rehearse that) 4. Describe your venue? It was beautiful, in the country on top of a hill. On the most beautiful day in May 5. Pictures please! (If you are OK with sharing)
I'm side eyeing the people who love titted the chick who withholds sex from her husband to get him on the same page to have a kid.
I didn't realise liking a wedding story was condoning behaviour that frankly is none of my darn business.
None of your business except she over shared it with us. That chick's on my post it (and I'm sure several others), so feels side eye worthy. That is all.

Yep she shared it and now we all know. I can disagree with her choices and still treat her like anyone else on the board.

I'm pretty sure the admin stated that if anyone tried to dig up the stuff from the other thread they would be warned, if not removed.
Stalking me to any other threads I try to participate in just to bring up the bad advice I gave and make presumptions about the status of my marriage now is just unnecessary. I've already apologized. It was my misguided and poorly worded projection from an isolated period in my marriage which counseling remedied... 6 years ago. What you're doing is trying to facilitate a hijack in any thread I try to participate in. Side eye all you want, but guess what? You don't need to type it out. Keep your vitriol for me to yourself.
I'd much rather get back to the happy/funny wedding stories. Can we please just do that?
2. When DH and I first met, I reaaalllly disliked him(I though he was a typical good looking jerk, but decided he would be a fun "college fling" after he kept asking me out. After that first date we were never apart). That cracked everyone up when he brought it up in his vows. It was adorable.
3. Our DJ cut off our college fight song before we got to best part. If we had gotten married in Texas, that NEVER would have happened.
4. Old white manor house in Georgia. It has a gorgeous terrace on in the back where the ceremony was and a new fancy ballroom for the reception. It was gorgeous and perfect.
I have to ask.. Are y'all Aggies? My hubby and I are and we missed the Aggie War Hymn completely because our photographer had us outside taking pics

I don't think anyone is stalking you, dear. We are participants on the same board. Like it or not regulars usually remember the history of other regulars.
Some of the things you said to us were not very nice. I don't remember any apology from you either. Just because the posts got erased and the other thread is closed does not mean you can tip-toe through the tulips like it never happened. Know what I mean?
Usually, an apology & attempts to move on (basically ignore posts that bother you if you have to) go pretty far.
Trust me, I've made my share of fuck-ups around the boards. I have experience owning my stuff & doing my best to keep moving forward.
She did actually apologize. In this thread@Lizzie5831 said "I apologize for the bad advice; I was projecting from one of the lower points in my marriage from 6 years ago and did a piss poor job explaining my reasoning."
Nothing wrong with putting someone on a post it, but I don't think it helps to derail threads with this any longer...
2. I wore the same bracelet that my grandmother wore on her wedding day. She gave it to me when I was about 15. She passed away the same month that my DH and I got engaged.
3. Although I am not catholic, we got married in the church because that was important to my DH. When it was time for me to make the sign of the cross I felt all the eyes on me and of course got it completely backwards. Thankfully everyone just laughed, including the priest.
4. Describe your venue? Our church had beautiful stain glass windows and a wonderful courtyard area. The hotel was right next to the river walk in town with a beautiful view of the autumn leaves.

I was think more along the lines of apologizing for thinking we wished bad things on her or enjoyed her pain. We aren't bad people. We aren't into wishing miscarriage on anyone or saying anyone deserves to lose their children. My heart still hurts that she said that.
I am still upset someone would say that about this group of women that are very sweet, sincere people. Especially a newbie that hasn't given much support to anyone else.
I would say Lizzy is as responsible for the derailment of any thread. /shrug An example is her stalking allegations in this one. Holy hyperbole!
I like a wedding thread as much as anyone else but to say she has apologized is really missing the mark. Apologizing for giving bad advice is not the same as apologizing for bringing such ugliness to this community.
My wedding was in 2009 & instead of flowers I used feathers!
1. How old were you and dh/so when you got married. I was 22 and DH was 27.
2. What was something special or unique about your wedding day. We got married at DH grandparents home on his family ranch on our 1year anniversary. It was so sentimental in everyway! We had tons of little touches that were special things from our family members. I have his grandmothers wedding band, I wore my great grandmothers pearls, the wheat in my bouquet was from my great grand parents wheat fields, I had a bottom from his grandmothers wedding dress sewn into mine and so on and so fourth. There were a lot lol
3. Any screwups or funny anecdotes? My husbands best men pretended like they lost my ring during the ceremony and tried to give DH ring pops instead.
4. Describe your venue? Family ranch
5. Pictures please! (If you are OK with sharing) .
1. How old were you and dh/so when you got married.
I was 22 DH was 24
2. What was something special or unique about your wedding day.
Instead of a ring I gave DH a set of cuff links. He is not a fan of jewellery at all and had always said "just buy me a turbo instead". He is big into cars so as a but of a silly / something special I found a set shaped like a turbo. Haha! Your wish is my command darling
3. Any screwups or funny anecdotes?
My maid of honour forgot the rings in the car so had to run off before I did the walk down the aisle.
4. Describe your venue?
We got married at a local golf course out in the gardens. It was a beautiful day in August and was perfect for us.
5. Pictures please! (If you are OK with sharing)
Any excuse to share these bad boys!
I was 22 and he was 24. Since we were both in the military, we didn't have an actual wedding. We went to the courthouse in Jacksonville, NC on Columbus Day and got married. We didn't have any witnesses, so the other couple that was there ended up being our witnesses and we were theirs. A unique thing about our wedding day is that his birthday is Oct 7th, mine is Oct 8th, and our anniversary is Oct 9th. We can not forget those dates.
1. How old were you and dh/so when you got married. I was 24 (one week from being 25) and he was 26.
2. What was something special or unique about your wedding day. We are big ski/snowboard people, so we did a Colorado Mountain themed wedding. We were married on top of a ski resort! We had our collage friend as the bagpiper during the ceremony. Our dog was the ring bearer( we put fake wedding rings on him). Sister in law in a professional Oprah singer, sang two songs during the ceremony. Guest book signed skis.
3. Any screwups or funny anecdotes? My Grandpa pants fell completely down when walking down the aisle!! And when I say completely I mean around his ankles. What was cute him and his brother have alzheimer's and they both have the hardest time remembering recent memories and guess what the next day the two of them were joking around about how his pants fell down! We could not believe it, it was like watching my old Grandpa again just being himself and making a joke out of everything. Best moment from that weekend esp since he is now passed away.
4. Describe your venue? We were married on top of Keystone Ski Resort in Colorado and when I mean on top, I mean on top, you take two Gondolas to get the venue. The venue was gorgeous with high wooden ceiling, you get married on the deck right outside of the venue. It was perfect
5. Pictures please! (If you are OK with sharing)
This is how you get up to the venue, the gondolas. Not to be confused with the boats, but are fully inclosed ski lifts.
The views on top of the mountain, sadly it was cloudy but luckliy we were not rained out.

1. How old were you and dh/so when you got married.
I was 24 and DH was 25
2. What was something special or unique about your wedding day.
After our ceremony we were supposed to go to a park to take pictures with our wedding party. But it started raining. But it started raining so instead we decided to go to my Grandpa's nursing home and took pictures with him. It was such a beautiful experience. And it is something I will forever treasure because he passed away a year later.
3. Any screwups or funny anecdotes?
4. Describe your venue?
The ceremony was done at my family church, where I grew up. The reception was in the basement of the church. Me, My Mom, & Maid of honor/Cousin decorated on our own. The decorations were all DIY. Our wedding colors were red, white & silver with a Royalty theme with hints of Mickey & Minnie (our pet names for each other)
2. We 100% eloped. We looked at each other on Wednesday and said what are we waiting for? We were married 2 days later. We only told one of his sisters and one of my best friends so they could be our witnesses...It was said and done in 3 minutes and we went on our way to let our families and friends know!
3. My Dad's response when we went to tell him that night was to smile, look at DH and let him know that my car issues were now his issues.
I saw this post mentioned in another gtky thread and had to bump it up as 1) I've only been married 4 months and still obsessed with my wedding and 2) obsessed with other peoples weddings
1. How old were you and dh/so when you got married.
I was 33, so was 39.
2. What was something special or unique about your wedding day.
We got married on the beach in ocho rios. The wedding was on a resort, at the edge of the property, which was sectioned off with a chain link fence. On the other side of the fence were Jamaican fishermen who watched our wedding and smoked pot the whole time. Our wedding reaked of weed! I just laughed the whole time and after my vows asked DH if he smells it too!
3. Any screwups or funny anecdotes?
Well... Not funny... But my mom tried to ruin my wedding. I actually had to have the whole "does anyone object" from the ceremony as I was afraid she would take the opportunity. In fact, the morning of, she asked me if she was going to have the chance....
4. Describe your venue?
the Caribbean ocean
5. Pictures please! (If you are OK with sharing) .
UMMM...yeh!
1. How old were you and dh/so when you got married. 26/25
2. What was something special or unique about your wedding day. We got together in high school.Been together for 13 years but didn't get married till our 10th anniversary.Same day as anniversary Jan 24th.
3. Any screwups or funny anecdotes? The day before we picked out rings. We both bought our rings but then i returned mine like an hour later because i freaked out about not wanting to stop wearing my engagement ring. It's a band ring with a small heart and i love it too much and didn't want to wear two rings since i don't normally like jewelry and this ring has never came off me since we got engaged 12 years ago.
4. Describe your venue? We had a courthouse wedding.Wasn't anything great but the people that mattered most to us were there.
5. Pictures please! (If you are OK with sharing) I don't have any saved on this computer but if i find some i'll edit post.

1. How old were you and dh/so when you got married. We were both 23, our wedding was almost 6 years ago
2. What was something special or unique about your wedding day. I had family that flew in from Italy for the wedding, and the whole day just felt very special seeing family and friends having such a great time. We also made wine for our wedding favors
3. Any screwups or funny anecdotes? At the beginning of the ceremony when I heard the 'hear comes the bride' song, I got really nervous seeing everyone stand up and turn around to look at me, and without realizing it my dad and I practically sprinted down the aisle. People still laugh about how quickly we walked, but I tell DH that at least I was running toward him rather than away!
4. Describe your venue? Big traditional Catholic wedding at a church, and then ceremony at a hotel banquett hall

My Ovulation Chart
