April 2016 Moms

New to this.. Endless questions!

Hi Everyone,
My EDD is April 1st. I have an almost 4 year old step son and he's my pride and joy; BUT, I've never had my own baby and as much as I am excited... I'm actually very scared.
Are there certain things I can't do or eat?
Do I have to take all the prenatal vitamins?
If not, what vitamins do I HAVE to take?
I'm literally crying all the time and I can't handle that much emotion. I never knew I had this many tears.
I have many cramps and pains and sorenesses and I know I'm not allowed to take certain medicines while I'm pregnant... but I don't know what I can take.
What medicines can I take for pain or nausea?
Does anyone have any more opinions or helpful comments they can share?
Thank you. :)

Prenatal vitamins YES. You need one with iron and folic acid. You don't need anything fancy, I take the Target brand prenatal.
I would recommend a warm (but not hot) bath for aches soreness. Some Tylenol is ok but don't go crazy with it.

    Eta: congrats and welcome!

  • Congratulations! Isn't it already a wild ride?! If you have a practitioner, it's always good to run medication questions by them. And like PP stated, prenatals are a yes (I use New Chapter). There are certain foods "they" say pregnant women shouldn't eat like deli meat, soft cooked eggs, raw honey (google search) but I have had friends eat all the nots and have healthy babies. I tend to play it safe though. Being pregnant is an amazing ride, enjoy it!
