This is my second pregnancy and I'm having trouble keeping anything down-- the same thing happened with my first. Apparently I have what Kate Middleton has had: hyperemesis gravidarum -- excessive vomiting during pregnancy-- anyone else suffering from this condition?
Re: Hyperemesis Gravidarum
But I had HG so bad to the point where in the weeks 8 to 12 I didn't keep a single thing down, i lost 24 pounds. I was on every medication possible and it did help. I was amitted to hospital several times for fluids. The main advice I can give to you is see a doctor or go to the ER if you can't get anything down in 48 hours. It made me feel a lot better being hydrated, HG absolutely sucks!!!! But hopefully for you it does pass, good luck to everyone.
I've lost 11 pounds so far. My midwife and the specialist who does my ultrasounds (he's a retired obstetrician) both told me I have it.
We had an unfortunate trip to Urgent Care where despite my throwing up 4 times in the waiting room alone, had obviously never heard of H.G.
We mentions at the front desk that my doc told me to come in for an I.V. Of saline.
The idiot attending told me I should watch out for appendicitis (after poking my belly roughly, and my flinching as a result).
Then they tried to do blood pressure diagnostics, during which I was dizzy and nearly passed out/fell over. Then, he pronounced me "not dehydrated," -- and asked for a urine sample.
I was only able to pee a tiny, concentrated amount... Which he then decided must be b/c of a UTI.
I don't have appendicitis or a UTI and after talking w. our family friend (another retired obstetrician) we know now to go to the E.R. not U.C. and to insist upon zither saline I.V. with a beforehand call so they know why we're coming in.
This has been so difficult.
H.G. sucks and my heart goes out to you all!
I'm currently on Zofran, which sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't. I'm not keeping food down, but liquids seem to be easier sometimes.
