Mark on baby leg, not sure what to do (picture included)

I noticed a mark in my LOs inner thigh, high up where the diaper is. It's not a rash it looks irritated. I put a bigger diaper size on her and different types and nothing helps. I don't know if I should put diaper rash cream but like I said it's not a rash. Has anyone had this, should I put ointment on it.

  • Look like its irritated from her diaper. Put some diaper rash cream on it, I love triple paste. Hope this helps

  • Looks like a little heat and moisture irritation. Ditto on the diaper rash cream
  • My son has the same thing. His doctor said its from the humidity the skin gets irritated
  • California baby Calendula cream. If diaper rash cream doesn't help, try that! I swear by it. It has made every random little mark on my LO disappear overnight. (Everything from severe baby acne and eczema to a fingernail scratch!)
  • Agrees with all pps,+ do you leave lo without diapers every once in a while? I do it everyday with almost every change unless i'm in a hurry, i just let her hang on a changing pad with blankets and towels on it until she starts fussing which is rarely over 10 mins, it helps with relieving gas and bowel movements since she can kick higher and move more without the diaper.

whether it's a heat rash or a diaper rash airing it out is great.
  • @mars8k - I've seen you mention this on several posts and I've been wanting to try airing the area out periodically. But my problem is that I have a DS not a DD (well, actually I have both but I'm not too concerned with her on this). However, DS has about a 3 foot arch and a 5 foot radius lol. Anyone have any ideas for him? Would love some airing-out time but need to minimize the collateral damage!
  • Yepp my baby had that but worse /: was all pussy. Just be sure to wipe it really good and use ointment. LOs cleared up in 2 days.!

Hahaha DH an I had a good laugh at that one! :) Wish I had good advice... maybe drape a washcloth or rag over? That way he still won't have anything super restricting and air will still be getting in more than with a diaper?
  • @danibonello - good call thanks! I was thinking maybe a rag too but was afraid he might "pee it off" lol. I just asked DH and he said he doubts it so we will give it a try!

I try to cover DS with a small cloth at every diaper change. Otherwise he does pee pretty well every time that cool air hits him! As long as the cloth is positioned well he's never "peed it off" haha!!

I also would love to let DS have some air time without a diaper. My problem is the other end. DS LOVES to poop on the change table. Which is why I also have cloths laid underneath him as well. Seems silly to protect our change table cover. But honestly, washing that thing numerous times a day was getting old. Now if he poops I just have to rinse out a cloth right away and lay down a new one.

Lmoa i see! My sister used to air out my nephew by only keeping a onsie on him and she would undo the snaps so the top covers him, but you'll have to be sitting right there to pull it down everytime he kicks it's a lot of work, i've been peed on by all my nephews lol
  • I always have to give air time to my DS everyday.  He is a hot baby and tends to sweat and it gets irritated in his fat rolls!   I just make sure that we are positioned in a way that if and when he lets it go, it will land somewhere that is easy to clean up.  It's totally worth it and it's one thing that is guaranteed to make him happy if he is fussing :)
