I had a scan on Tuesday when I was 32+5 and she estimated her to be 5lb. She said it's perfectly normal and as long as they continue the on same growth pattern everything is considered happy and healthy Consultant also told me we no longer make small babies so to not be too hung up on what our parents gave birth to. Which is just as well, as I was 6lb at full term haha!
thefuturemrsdaniel it depends on the doctor and also the patient. I think most women end up with 1 or 2. Women over 35 and high risk pregnancies then to get more scans.
I had an ultrasound at 36 weeks with my son (I was high risk with him & was monitored weekly) & they told me that he would be about 8 1/2 lbs.. well when he was born at 39 weeks he was 8lbs. 13 oz. If I had went to 40 weeks with him he would've been over 9 pounds for sure. So my ultrasound then was pretty close to being accurate. This time around I haven't had any issues and haven't had an ultrasound since week 28. But I am curious as to how big she will be because the tech at that ultrasound said she was "looking to be on the same track as her brother was". So.. I may be delivering another almost 9 pounder in a few weeks, especially if I go all the way to 40! I want to bring it up to my doc just so I can prepare myself. Kind of nervous, but at least I know my body is capable of doing it!
I had my sonogram yesterday, and at 33+2, baby girl is 4lbs 6 oz, and 17.1". She's on the smaller side but she has been growing at good pace so they are not worried.
At 36 weeks, 4 days, baby is 7lbs, 2ozs...at 81 percentile. I also have GD. Still paranoid baby is going to get too big. Doctor says everything is fine.
36 weeks and measured 7 lbs 4 ozs. Everyone said big, 90th percentile. I'm hoping her little lungs develop and they're on the high side... ftm here so a little nervous about her exit!
OK how do all of you get so many ultrasounds? I know with my first I wouldn't have had one at 34 weeks if I want measuring small. Do your Dr's just check the weight or do you guys have other health problems they are monitiring? Just curious. My first measured 5lbs at 34 weeks and born at 8 12 but dr has made no mention of worrying about weight with this one.
I was only supposed to get 2 US. I've had several things come up that caused us to need to have a look at baby. (Bleeding episodes, fall injury, pPROM)
I'm high risk due to seizure medication I have to take so I have gotten an ultrasound every 4 weeks since 20 weeks I'm just about 34 weeks.
