Holding Baby

Both my LOs get very frustrated when I try to hold them close to my body. They constantly root for my breast and get very frustrated when they don't get it. I only breastfed for 5 weeks and they are 15 weeks now! When will they stop trying to breastfeed? Will they ever like to be held close? I make sure to try when they are not hungry. Even holding them up with their head peeking over my shoulder doesn't work - they keep trying to wiggle down towards my breast. My DD fell asleep the other day on DH's co-worker's chest and I was so jealous. Plus my forearms get tired from holding them in front of me all the time. Help please!

Giving my DS a pacifier helps. As long as he has something to suck on, he will gladly be against my chest or fall asleep on me. When he gets hungry, he spits the paci out and starts rooting. Honestly, though, I think that they will probably always root around on us until they grow out of it. DS even roots on DH and that's not gonna happen- lol

  • My LO does this all the time. When my husband holds him he is ok but as soon as he comes to mama he searches for the boob. I am still breastfeeding though. I read that the rooting reflex usually disappears around 3-4 months but it can last up to 12 months
