Baby shower timing?!

Hi!
I did a search and yes their are baby shower posts but I didn't see one that talked about timing?

I'm due November 24th, about a month before Christmas, so I wanted to have the baby shower before the baby is due. When is a good time before due date that isn't too far from due date and that isn't pushing it too close? Any thoughts?

I personally would have one 30-36 weeks if this a single baby pregnancy.

I'm due the same day! I'm thinking October 3rd or 17th but not sure. I'd appreciate any feedback. My reasoning is based on talking to cousins who had theirs around 6 weeks prior and upon reflection would have appreciated the extra time. Also I'm thinking what if baby comes early? - I'm a FTM.

Because im a vain woman I plan on having an early one at about 30-32 that way im not huge in the pictures.

Ummm... Not sure you really get to decide this. Are you throwing yourself a shower? A shower is a gift typically thrown by a family member or close friend. Mine was a surprise and I didn't expect one so I had no say in timing.

Due 11/23 mine is 9/12. My hostess cleared the date with me so it's not a surprise.

I'm due November 14, and so far, I'm having showers on 9/13 and 9/26, at 31 and 33 weeks. My mom and MIL are throwing one, so I pretty much got to hand pick the date. My friends are throwing the other, and they gave me two date choices and I chose one. I know my work colleagues will do something too, but school hasn't quite started back, so I don't know yet when theirs will be...prob after school one day during the week.

Also, side question...when are y'all doing maternity pics? I was thinking ideally around 30 weeks, before I'm majorly huge. Just curious what others were thinking (not trying to hijack, just avoiding starting new thread).

My best friend is throwing one for me and asked me when is a good time for me. We're doing it really early, August 23rd (I'm due Nov. 3rd) because my boyfriends dad and brother are both having major surgery at the end of August, and will be recovering for about six weeks. I didn't want to put any pressure on his mom since she's taking care of them both. Plus it's over 100 degrees where I live far into late October and I wanted to be as comfortable as possible since it's an outside shower. I think it's up to your shower host, but I think it's always nice to double check with you first.

So far my in laws have asked me to clear my schedule September 12-13, and I believe my mother and sister are throwing one first weekend of October. I'm fine with both of those weekends since I'm due Nov 7, but I personally wouldn't like to go into the last 4-5 weeks. I plan to use my last month to buy anything I'm missing and just settle in and begin the waiting game.

I'm due 11/21 and having my shower 8/29. I'll only be 28 weeks but a lot of people in my family are out of town during the month of September. Plus I didn't want to be too uncomfortably huge trying to get the nursery together.

I'm due 11/23 and we are having ours on 9/12 and 9/19. We had to get the dates cleared with everyone for the friend shower since a lot of out of town guests are coming. October wasn't a good month since it's such a huge wedding month we couldn't find a weekend to accommodate everyone. And November just sounded too late to me. I agree, a shower is a gift... But we are all adults running busy lives. Giving your available dates to your hosts/hostesses doesn't make you any less grateful.

I'm due November 15 and my mom, mother in law, and sister in law are planning my shower and it's on August 8! Super early, but I live states away and my mom's a teacher and won't have much time off once school starts. I just feel lucky that they're kind enough to plan one for me!

I'm due 11/06 and my mother is throwing one for me on 09/26 or 10/03. She hasn't nailed down the date since it's (sort of) supposed to be a surprise for me.

I'm due 11/23 and my shower will be in the first week of October. It worked for both the hosts, and they cleared it with me. I would've preferred late September just to give myself a little more time for nursery set-up after, but we're going to move who knows when, so the October date will hopefully be after we're in the new house.

I'm having mine very early. I'm due Nov 18 and my shower is Aug 23. I'll be 28 weeks. My hosts had asked my preference and since I'm a teacher and September is crazy I wanted to have it before I went back to school. This will give me one week to organize some nursery stuff.

I'm also having an early one. It had more to do with this being a twin pregnancy originally, so we wanted to have it early in case I was really uncomfortable or went into labor early. Now that it's a single pregnancy, we're still keeping the original date b/c why not? I'm due 11/21 and one shower is 8/29 and one is 9/12.

I'm having a early shower since my family from out of town is coming down already on a certain weekend. I also prefer early showers so that gives me enough time to purchase anything that was not received at the shower. At the end of the day it's up to you. If you already bought all the major items then have a later shower. If you are waiting to the shower to see if you get those big items that j would suggest an early shower.

My mom is throwing mine and she knows I'm a controlling person, so she's giving me some say in date and location! Lol. Nothing wrong with that! As far as timing...we're doing a little less than 2 months before due date so that we don't feel rushed to purchase anything else needed, and set everything up in the nursery.

My mom and sisters are planning one and they just wanted my thoughts on a date. Plus my best friend is due 10 days before me so we don't want to book on the same day so my mom is asking for my input. Besides I am working as close to due date as possible so it can't be a complete surprise.

I'm due November 27. We thought my SIL was hosting but now she probably isn't so my mom will probably have it at her house, which means we have to have it outside. We decided something in September - one of the last two weekends.

I helped planned the time because I live out of state, and my family no longer does surprises since my SIL had a massive panic attack towards the end of her pregnancy because she thought no one was throwing a shower - she went crazy and started buying everything, and my brother had no idea what to do. We ultimately let him tell her.

The only thing I asked was for mine to be between 30-34 weeks.. The rest is a surprise.. I just don't want to be huge and miserable and not enjoy something that somebody took the time out of their day to plan for me.. I would feel like ish if I was to complain about being hot or anything else the day of my shower because like I said somebody took their time to plan the shower for me.. My mom was 36 weeks pregnant with me when she had her baby shower and she told me she remembered how miserable She was and I came out 2 weeks later and she didn't have many things put away because I came early.. She wants to make sure I have enough time!!

Due 11/21, and my hostesses planned my shower for 8/30. I'll be about 28 weeks, as a previous poster with a similar date said. It seems a little bit on the early side, but my hostesses suggested that date and I approved it. It also gives us plenty of time to get everything situated before baby gets here.
My MIL wanted to throw another one in DHs hometown in late October... but I vetoed that. I can't travel six hours in a car at that point, nor do i have enough leave to just take off work. I suggested a sip and see after the baby is born, which she is cool with.

I am due 11-11 and my shower is August 30th! I am carrying twin boys, so I am more concerned with being comfortable and just being prepared in case my fellas come early!!

I'm due on 11/11, too!!!

My shower will be on August 22.

I'm not carrying multiples, but I have to travel out of state. Also, I wanted mine on the earlier side just in case my baby decides to make an early appearance.
