Two month shots today..,

I know there's probably a thread about this somewhere, but I just need some strength to handle watching my little guy get his shots today! I'm having them spaced out (two shots and the vaccine he drinks today, the rest next week), but I just hate seeing him in pain!

Any helpful tips or suggestions besides Tylenol?

    Be strong for your baby- the more calm you are, the better it'll be for him. I was very anxious too, but my husband told me to "get it together" lol. My daughter fed of my energy (even though it did suck seeing her cry and hurt), but she stopped crying quickly after some soothing and it wasn't so bad. It'll be done in seconds- and you get extra cuddles for a few days after :) Good Luck!

    Stay strong! I can't imagine spreading the shots out and having the baby go through that two weeks in a row. I nursed my LO immediately after which helped to comfort her! Lots of snuggles for the next few days! Good Luck!

    It goes so fast, I promise! The anticipaton before the appointment was worse than the real thing. I had a pumped bottle for right afterward and that was a huge help! I did give my LO some Tylenol halfway through her bottle, and I think that helped. She did great the rest of the day. Slept a lot but was a happy, smiling baby when she was awake. She also slept through the night like usual, thankfully, and was her usual self the next day. You will do great and so will he! Just have the boob or bottle ready afterward and plan on giving extra snuggles. :) Wishing you both well today!!

    Agreed with PP. The anticipation is harder than the shots themselves.

    My DS did way better than I expected. He cried but he ended up hating the oral meds worse than the shots. He stopped crying when the second shot happened. By the time we made our next appointment and left the building he was fast asleep. I spent the afternoon holding him while he slept for some extra cuddles. But he did fantastic. No fever, no extra fussiness, nothing.

    My motto was: Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

    If you breastfeed, just prepare to nurse right after.  That always calms my DD down.  If you don't breastfeed, a bottle might do the same.

    DD had her appt last week. She did scream and cry during the shots, but immediately fell asleep after. We didn't do Tylenol before or after. No fever, no diarrhea, just a little cranky before bed. Obviously they won't be happy about it, but it's also better than the alternative of them being seriously ill later.

    As others said, stay calm and relaxed so LO isn't feeding off your emotions. My mom went with me which was super helpful (she grabbed stroller, diaper bag, ect so I could just hold LO after) so bringing someone with you might help. Let LO eat as often as he wants for the next couple days and give lots of cuddles! Good luck!

    My LO cried very briefly after the shot. Then they have her the oral vaccine and she ate it up! And she was a little upset but not crying. We snuggled and nursed the rest of the day. I didn't even need to give her Tylenol. By 10pm she was her usual self.
