Has anyone started buying maternity clothes?

Re: Has anyone started buying maternity clothes?

  • I have bought some used clothes from some mommy sites, I am stocked up on pants and jeans and a few tee's but I work in an office environment so I'm going to need to to get some blouses.  Some days when the bloat isn't bad I feel like it will be a month or two until I need the maternity clothes.  Other days like yesterday I feel like I'm 4 months preggo! Thank goodness for maxi skirts!!

  • I have bought jeans as the were crazy cheap at old navy when I was going though fertilty treatment but that's all. Thinking I want to buy more though and will if I find great deals.
  • I gave away the majority of my maternity clothes after DS3 was born because he was going to be our last, so I'm basically starting from scratch with maternity clothes.  I know it's early, my regular clothes still fit, but I'm finding it hard to resist the sales on fall/winter clothing at A Pea in the Pod.  Especially the buy one get on free designer outlet sale.  Anyone else stocking up yet??
I love a pea in the pod I just ordered some shorts (for our vacation in Sept.) and a sweater from a pea in the pod buy one get one half off. Would have been almost 200.00 normally and got it for 34.00. Then got an email this morning the shorts were backordered. Hopefully not for too long. :)

  • I may actually invest in a maternity bra and underwear this time.  I've been pretty stubborn but I'm thinking just go comfy this time.

  • I don't plan on buying any. I didn't my first pregnancy either. It helps that's I've dropped 100 pounds, so I have stuff that can accomodated my stomach for awhile. But I just wear dresses with flow skirts, and then an unbuttoned/unzipped Hoodie or sweater overtop, then leggings or pants under the bump. No need to buy a new wardrobe for only a couple of months.
  • I bought a few bras... I was having quite an issue. But I haven't bought any actual clothing yet
  • 8 weeks. No bloat. I've actually lost a few pounds sofar. Maybe that makes you want to throw something at me. Sorry.
I have no idea how in the hell I'm supposed to gain 25-30 pounds!! It sounds impossible.

Seriously though...no shopping for me until I find out which parts are going to expand.
I've seen alot of women gain weight all over their bodies. I suspect I'll just get a belly and nothing else.
My husband says he's picturing a fence post with a basketball in a walmart bag hanging from it.

I just don't fit in around here do I?

  • Pea in the Pod is having a BOGO sale on a lot of things. I don't normally buy anything from them because it's expensive and I'm cheap, but that actually makes their clothes a decent deal!

I got 2 pairs of jogger pants. I teach Phys. Ed. I'm not allowed to wear leggings (conservative private school), and the only other maternity option available is yoga pants. All pregnancy yoga pants I've ever owned are so stretched out by the day my butt looks like it melted. So I'm hoping these are good for work!

I think everyone fits in here. (Or else nobody does.) It's the Internet, not high school. ;)

  • How do maternity clothes work? What do I need? When should I get them? I'm six weeks and my bloating is already making my pants a bit snug. How do you try them on and know if they'll fit when you're ready to burst? I have no idea what I'm doing!!!

  • I just bought 2 maternity tees are Target today on my lunch break. They were on clearance and cartwheel had an extra 20% off of clearance so they weren't too bad. Anyone have experience buying maternity pants in longs or talls? Any recommendations? I'm a 10 or 12 and am 5'11 (all leg, no torso).

  • I usually just end up at target (they have great stuff!) when things start getting snug more from the baby bump and less from the bloat and try on comfy stuff. But some people feel more comfy in mat clothes right away - both are fine! They are so forgiving and comfy. I love shirts with the side ruching bc they look flattering (to me) and I can wear them after baby too. There are so many different belly styles of pants (as mentioned above somewhere) so you just have to try stuff on and fig out what you like best. Some fancy stores have a little bump pillow you can wear while you try on clothes if you're trying to buy them early on. And anything with a stretchy roll-over/fold down waistband is awesome (to me) like maxi skirts and yoga pants.

Just wait until the second trimester HANGRIES come into play (hungries + angries = hangries).  And most of the 25-30lbs is baby + increased blood + oh so lovely placenta.  Trust me, you'll gain.  And that's not wishing bad on you, it just happens.

If you can swing it I've noticed that the designer maternity jeans run super long, just like the non maternity versions.  I'm 5'5 and I had to get a good 4-5" hemmed off my Paiges.  Also Gaps maternity jeans come in Long.  If that doesn't work ask me again because my neighbor is built similar to how you describe yourself and her maternity jeans were always long enough so I can ask her where she got them!

Just bought Liz Lange from Target and I'm sporting the rolled up jeans.  Don't they know the average woman is 5'4"?????

  • Yes to all the maternity clothes. They're so comfy.

  • I hate anything tight on my (bloated) belly now. I went a little crazy with the BOGO clearance sale at Pea in the Pod.
