Oh, I also told our Director today. Mine is high risk and I currently manage a group home in which we provide 24/7 care and staffing. I had to let him know so if I end up on bed rest we're prepared for it.
  • I only told our family and my best friend. I also told my coach at crossfit, so we can adjust my workout. We had a MC in March and it was hard to contact everybody to tell them that we lost the baby. But I do want to tell everybody! I'm 5 weeks along and I'm not sure how I'll keep it secret until the 12 weeks mark. We are going to visit some friends next week, so we'll have to tell them because they will wonder why I'm not drinking. We also have two weddings coming but they are at the end of September, so we'll be able to tell all our family and friends.
I think you should do what feels right for you. And it's true that it can be awkward to tell friends who didn't know about the pregnancy and learn in the same conversation that there was a baby and not anymore.

  • Personally, I found that talking about MC was hard whether you told them about the pregnancy before or not, but that it was necessary to have someone to talk to besides your spouse.

That being said, there is nothing wrong with sharing your good news with the people with which you're closest.

    Married 10/13/12
    TTC Since 8/2016

  • I have shared this with my support group of friends and my parents, not his yet and we havent told either set of siblings. I just needed people to be able to talk to just in case and to vent my worries to.

  • We have told a lot of our close family and a few friends. If anything did happen it would be so hard dealing with it if no one in our world knew what we would be going through. Plus I am going to need lots of support from my teacher friends when school starts. We are moving into a new school so they are going to have to help me lift everything not to mention give me pee breaks all the time.
  • We have already told all of our family and close friends too. I would much rather have a strong support system behind me if something does happen. Even a perfect pregnancy can be stressful. It is nice to have someone to share your joy too! DH doesn't talk much about the pregnancy until I actually look pregnant.
  • We had to tell my sister and her fiance because they were trying to plan their wedding in Aruba for March 2016. They were kinda seeing through my excuses as to why they couldn't and stressing, so I just ended up telling them. We will tell our parents and my SIL after our first appointment next weekend.

  • We've told everybody already...we're really bad at keeping secrets lol.

We kept it mostly to ourselves the first time "in case something happened". When that "something" did happen we found we needed to talk to people about it. It was a weirder conversation when you started it by mentioning the pregnancy in past tense. People didn't know how to respond because they were still adjusting to the knowledge that there was a pregnancy to begin with and then the follow up blow just left people speechless. So we have told a handful of people that would be/are our support system.
This is EXACTLY what we did.
At first, I didn't want to tell anyone. Then I realized that if "something" happens, I'll need the support of my loved ones.
So we told a handful of folks and asked them to keep it secret until September.
    Everyone has been so supportive!

  • I always tell my family and close friends because last year when I had my MC I had them there to support me. I understand waiting for Facebook and the rest of the world but people that are close to you will be there for you no matter what happens.
