March 2016 Moms

So so sick

I've been SO sick since I found out I was pregnant two weeks ago. I'm only 6.5 weeks too. It's my 2nd pregnancy and the first time around I had maybe three bouts of nausea and threw up once. The doctor prescribed me a safe nausea medicine I took last night but it gave me crazy dreams and I'm nauseous again this morning. I'm going to try ginger but the thought makes me gag. Eating small meals and staying hydrated doesn't help as I'm nauseous when I'm hungry and full. I have a 19 month old and feel awful bc I've felt so bad and haven't been giving her the attention she needs this week (it's our last together before we both go back to "school"). I feel like a big whiner but I'm so tired, achy, and nauseous all day! Any suggestions?

Are you keeping anything down? Liquids especially?

  • I'm in the same boat as you! I tried some Gatorade first thing this morning before I got out of bed and that seems to be working miracles, so far...
  • I feel the same way 8 weeks and i have been so tired and nauseous. I haven't puked but feel like I'm on the verge 24/7 I'm also excruciatingly tired ALL the time and whenever I do get up I feel winded.. It's ridiculous. But for nauseous feeling I've been taking 1/2 tab of vitamin B and 1/2 of unisome at night and then the other half of vitamin B in the morning. The unisome does make me a little groggy but no more than I've already been feeling.
  • Ugh! I am with you guys 8 weeks pregnant and cannot wait for the morning sickness to ease up .. Every morning I am nauseous and usually end up throwing up stomach acid. Although this morning I felt great when I woke up and it wasn't until after I ate my breakfast that I got really sick and haven't stopped throwing up! Trying to keep fluids down as much as possible and eating small meals more frequently! Hopefully this lets up soon enough I have lost 13lbs so far!
  • I am in the same boat. 6.5 weeks pregnant - morning sickness started a few days ago. I also have been taking b6 and unisom. Took those with my first pregnancy as well. I take them before bed - but during the day until about 2-3pm I feel like crap. I am also starting to lose weight because anything I think about food wise or attempt to put in my mouth I start gagging.

I am eating a few ginger cookies. Anyone every try the ginger root vitamin?

I have never heard of Sepia 30c before. Is this considered okay and safe to take during pregnancy?

Yep.  It is a holistic remedy but I trust the naturepath that recommended it to me.  It's purpose is for overall feminine health - like uterus health, etc.  I mentioned it to my midwife and she had absolutely no problem with me taking it.

  • I'm the same way! 7 weeks and dreading the rest of my trimester:( my first born is 4 and never did this to me..... I feel so bad neglecting her..... I'm secretly excited school starts in 3 weeks..... I just want to crawl in a whole..... Idk how working moms handle themselves
  • @skruhmin I'm going to have to find some of this Sepia 30c stuff. Is it very spendy? And do you take it whenever needed, or only 2 pellets a day?

Thanks everyone for the tips. I'm gonna give my prescription another try ... And then might get some B6 and ginger gum. I've been so fatigued today but can't sleep. How am I going to go back to work next week?!?!?!
  • Ugh, today has been the roughest by far. I will be 9 weeks tomorrow and I literally stayed in bed all day, with the exception to stumbling to the door to get the pizza I ordered for my kids. The combination of being so sick and my house looking like a hurricane went through is depressing. To top it off my hubby is an otr driver, so I am on my own essentially. I am counting down the weeks until I feel better, I bet all of us are!
  • So sorry, @BCH818! You're definitely not alone! My MS with #1 was a cake walk compared to this time. I am literally nauseous 24/7. Add dizziness on top of that, and it's not a good mix. Yesterday I had to stay home from work because I was so dizzy I don't think I could have driven. Even my mattress was too uneven and made me feel dizzy. I had to lie down on the ground, without pillows to feel even slightly better. @-)

(I have spoken to my OB about my dizziness, as I was concerned, but she told me that some women are just blessed with added dizziness while pregnant. Joy....)

  • I picked up Zofran yesterday and am saving it for the really bad nauseas (usually around 3pm).  It's getting bad enough that the homeopathic stuff isn't working :(

  • So sorry dear I'm just today 8 weeks and have lost 7 lbs and feel nausea all the time. I have stuff by the bed so when I wake to pee anyway I take a sip of water and bite of saltine. If I get up empty I feel worse. Hang in there!

I'm the same way. So nauseous all day long and throwing up most days, not to mention a throbbing headache. I also have a 19 month old and I feel like the worst mom because all I want to do is lay on the couch. And I'm so moody. I feel like I'm yelling at her all the time. I got a Zofran prescription on Monday, but I only take it at night because it makes me so drowsy... So the days are still hard.

  • I ended up in the hospital this week and have been diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum. I couldn't even keep an ice cube down and was extremely dehydrated. None of the suggestions worked for me. If this is the case, I would call your dr immediately to get some fluids and vitamins in your system. Good luck!

Ooh I'm sorry.  That seriously blows.  Hopefully it doesn't last your entire pregnancy.

  • I really lucked out because my midwife is in the same office as my PCP, and she was able to look at my bloodwork from recently - she said my hematocrit was high normal and she's fine with my skipping an iron supplement altogether until the second trimester. So I take a prenatal without iron. It has helped SO MUCH

Oh my gosh michkiv that's awful! Everyone else who is sick too - I'm sorry! This sucks. But knowing there's a tiny heartbeat in my belly makes it all worth it.

Ps right now I am laying down with the spins. I dry heaved for awhile before and had diarrhea. The nights are becoming the worst.
