Long time lurker but first time poster.

After almost a year, my husband and I have unfortunately but excitedly started the fertility train. Reading these boards are so reassuring and I love hearing everyone's stories. Just had an HSG scan done last Friday (that was awful), have my first follie scan this Thursday, and will be moving on to an IUI either this weekend or the start of next week! He had an SA done a few weeks ago which had lower than desirable morph but my doctor is very optimistic. My HSG scan came back good so hoping it cleared the way for the little guys to travel!

This is our first one - we are very hopeful but understand theirs a slim chance it works the first time. This will be our first and probably our only little bambino so we have been very eager to get the ball rolling!

I've been enjoying the July IUI thread so was wondering who all is going for IUI's in August!

Thanks for starting this thread! I'm waiting for AF to show (a few days late already, likely because of hysteroscopy) so we can get started on our first IUI as well. Going in for bloodwork tomorrow to make sure everything is fine with my hormones considering the unusual AF delay. Good luck with your follie scan!

I just had my HSG today, and I agree that it was pretty painful. Luckily it came back perfect too! I will go in for monitoring on Friday, and if everything looks good then hopefully I will be triggering and getting my first IUI early next week. I'm on letrozole and FSH injections so I hope I don't have too many follicles that mature. What medications are you on? Or are you doing a natural IUI cycle? Good luck!

Ooo your neck and neck with me! We are trying a natural IUI cycle this time. If it doesn't work out then we will move on to medications next cycle!

@jenniferlynn330 : let me know how it goes!! I'll be on the same combo. Do you mind me asking what your dosages are? I've reacted well to Letrozole alone, so I'm also worried about the number of follies maturing.

I was on clomid and just did ovidril tonight. I had like 8 follicles so the doc asked me if I wanted to cancel since there's a huge chance of multiples now.

@KidShrink 5mg of letrozole days 3-7 and 50iu's of gonal-f every other day starting day 6. I was on clomid for two cycles and had mature follicles but it thinned out my lining a lot. So this is my first time on letrozole and my doctor said the FSH injections will hopefully help boost my lining. So nervous but excited for this cycle!

@KidShrink well I think three were mature. 21, 19 and 17. But the rest were like 15. And my lining was thin so maybe no pregnancy after all.

@jenniferlynn330 : we'll be on very similar doses then. I also get 5mg of letrozole with 75iu of puregon (follistim). I didn't realize FSH could help with the lining too. That's great! Looking forward to hearing how it goes for you, and hopefully I join you soon!

Do you guys know what they consider very thin lining? Mine was a 6. Is that awful?

I will be in on this group if my July IUI does not take, I have my IUI tomorrow morning! But either way I will not be testing till mid August. Good luck and sending Baby Dust to you all!!!!

@Drove2u : ideally it's above 8mm. I never made it more than 7.4mm. We'll see how much that surgery will have fixed things up if the machine ever starts running again....

See how it goes. Clomid does tend to thin the lining, but Letrozole not so much. That's always something you can discuss with your RE if this round doesn't work. It's not optimal, but some people do get pregnant with that thickness. Ovidrel can help, and so would progesterone (after the IUI).

@Drove2u I feel for you! My lining was only 3mm my last clomid cycle (in June). The cycle before that it was almost 7mm but the doctor really didn't voice his concern until the 3mm round. Clomid just hasn't worked out for me that well. I hope your doctor finds the right "cocktail" for you soon!

I should be doing my IUI in August! I'd like to join the group.

Right now I'm waiting on AF to show so we can begin, but my nurse told me if no AF within 30 days (today is day 21) to just call and we will go ahead and do the ultrasound and blood work so we can get started. I'll be on 75ml of Menpur then the Ovidrel trigger shot to start. I'm excited and nervous. I really don't expect it to work the first time around though.

@Drove2u - Did your doctor give you any progesterone? Mine is giving me suppositories after my IUI that I have to take for 14 days, morning and night.

If he doesn't say he is giving it to you, I'd ask for it unless your lining is up to 8 by then. Fx for you. Good luck!

Hi tbyars07! I am in a similar situation. I am having my first IUI early next week, and similar issue with my hubby - morph number not so great, but doctor still optimistic when other numbers are all good. So like you, we know it doesn't always work the first time, but sure hopeful! I am so nervous and excited! I want this week to be over already!! Good luck to you!!

Disappointed here...seems like my body has decided it needed more rest after my surgery. All my bloodwork came back normal, which progesterone starting to build up (3.6). So hopefully by next week we can get this cycle started. I feel like helping it with the stash of prometrium that's been waiting in my cupboard, but I guess I'll just have to exercise some patience....

@Drove2u, I test this coming Saturday. I was up all night last night thinking I had AF cramps. I have only tested one time (and I did it at 10 just to torture myself I guess) because the last 4 rounds I have gotten my period before 16 days were up. I just feel like it's going to happen again. I know that's negative and I'm mad at myself for not keeping the faith. I have never seen a bfp and I have no idea what it feels like so, I guess that's something to remember. Good luck at your IUI today! I was lurking on the multiple birth board yesterday and there were 3 women who just found out they were pregnant with triplets. Can you imagine!? I am on progesterone twice a day right now and I am scared every time I do it because every time before I have seen AF signs and then the dream was over again....ahhhh!! I am such a negative nancy today. I'm sorry!! GOOD LUCK to you!!! FX!!

Good luck ladies! I'm glad this board was started. I have surgery tomorrow morning to have a polyp removed and will be having my 3rd IUI at the end of August. We've been doing clomid and a trigger shot but since it has been unsuccessful we'll probably look into injectables this time. This is probably our last shot before IVF

Should be on schedule to have an IUI next Tuesday or so. I start Letrzole last night and will continue for 4 more days (CD5-9). I am assuming I will trigger on Monday and have the IUI on Tuesday (but it could be a day later). Good luck to everyone!!

We are trying one last cycle naturally (3 months after Hysterscopy) and if we get a bfn we will be scheduling an IUI for August. We have unexplained fertility. It's been 1 1/2 years of us trying. It's so nice to have somewhere to turn to for advice/questions/venting. I just wish it was with people in person. I know a couple of people who have had trouble ttc but nothing like we're going through. Baby dust to all of you!!! I'm anxious but excited to try something different.

Got my "confirmation" phone call about my follie scan Thursday. This is the first time we learn what kind of follicles I have.

Question for anyone on FSH injections:

When do you usually end up triggering and having an IUI? I'm scheduled for monitoring this Friday (CD11) and I'm wondering if I'll possibly be triggering that night? Obviously I know it depends on the follies but I've heard with injections they grow a bit quicker. How many hours after the trigger shot do you usually get an IUI. I'm only having one IUI done.

I had my ultrasound on day 12 and they told me to trigger that night and then IUI 36 hours later.

@jenniferlynn330 - I think they ususally do the IUI 24-36 hours later, but I'm not positive on that.

@jenniferlyn330 - I concur with @AdorkablePixie. Its 24-36 hours after the trigger shot. I have had mine 24 hours after and 36 hours after. I always wonder how the doctors know which is best or if it's just a guess. I tried to research a little online and it seems like an educated guess...It made me feel all weird doing the research because I had convinced myself that this science is more exact than it actually is...the luck part is the element I struggle with the most.

@AMT&THC The luck part is hard. My doctor will have us BD the night before the IUI (I think it's the night before.. it might be the night before the night before..) and then suggests we BD the night of and day after too, just to be safe. I cannot wait for our first IUI. I just want to get this started!!

@AdorkablePixie - Our doctor has us BD 3 days before the IUI and then the night of the IUI and the day after as often as possible. It's a freakin marathon. But, then I get on this darn progesterone stuff and it irritates DH so a 2w dry spell, darn it. I am excited for you to do your IUI! I hope the first one works! We both need to figure out that luck part somehow

@AMT&THC Yes, we do need to figure out the luck part somehow! I am not looking forward to the progesterone stuff. I know I will probably feel lousy and gross and I don't think my DH will want to BD either because that's just how he is. Though I am sure I won't want to either so I guess that's okay! lol
