Mil help

my husbands family is totally different from mine..., my mil is overwhelming and does things that drive me insane, causes me so much stress. I don't know what to do. We went to my mil shore hiatus this weekend and my husband went out with his cousins to a bar at 11 & didn't return home til 3 & was wasted, slept heh next day til noon his mother saw nothing with it, it's what they always did, I was livid, our baby is 11 weeks old. She also puts her finger in his mouth at random times & kisses him all up when she has cold sores on her mouth-help

Re: Mil help

  • Ew. How can she possibly think it's okay for her to pass on her cold sore to LO?!? That's awful. I'd be telling her to stop that right away. Maybe explain to her that it is dangerous and you don't want LO exposed to that

  • Oh! The cold sore thing is seriously not okay! My grandmother does that and I laid down the law with my first baby because she did the same thing. My poor nephew is two and gets them because of it. Once you get one you have the virus and you will continue to get them throughout your life.

Put a stop to the kissing! I have cold sores and I hate them! I of course will never kiss my daughter when I have an outbreak as I don't want her to deal with it. I caught my in-laws kissing her after we have repeatedly told them to only kiss the top of her head. They repeatedly don't listen. Needless to say they will never watch her as they can't follow simple rules and have told us they will not follow them in future. My husband has addressed but they don't listen.

I would address the problems with your husband separately. He probably needed a night out, but he is a dad now and he should have been up in the morning when baby was up helping you out. He has responsibility now.
  • Get hubby to talk to his mom!! He should man up and be the one to tell her it's not ok. My DH and I agreed even before we started trying for a family that we would both handle our own families when it came to our children. I just happen to be the lucky one because my mom is awesome and his is a loony toon! (We both knew this would be the case.)
  • I believe the herpes virus is super dangerous to babies, but you can ask your doctor to be sure.
