Have you picked a name yet?

Just wondering how many of us have already chosen a name and how many are still deciding?
My hubby and I have had our selection narrowed down to 4 potentials for the past few months but it seems like we are at a standstill now with narrowing the remaining 4 down any further.

We finally nailed one down on Friday at 30 weeks. I was starting to wonder if we ever would!

We knew his name the day we got our positive pregnancy test.
  • We both agreed on the same name right away, but we couldn't agree on the spelling. He wanted to use the traditional spelling from his heritage. I wanted to use the British/American spelling. Both are legitimate, but mine is far more common. I say that I don't want his name to be spelled wrong his whole life. My husband says that his parents will spell it wrong if I don't spell it their traditional way. Well, we decided to take the name off the table. Recently, he decided to "give in" and spell it my way. Now that I've "won the battle", I'm not even sure I like it anymore :-(... I do like it as a name, but I don't like feeling like my husband is agreeing because he gave up... I want us both to love it!
  • No but we are also team green. Will be a junior if a boy but have yet to agree on girl name, probably a solid 3 faves (I like 2 and hubby likes another). I think we will wait and see if even girl before we decide.
  • Meika Jane will be joing her siblings Luna Raiie (2) and Koda Andrew(1) very soon:) had the names picked for our future babies since 2008!!
  • I knew if I had another girl her name would be Nora after my Nanny. We went back and forth on middle names but are pretty set on Lynn.

Nora Lynn is absolutely gorgeous. :D
  • Nope. And I can't seem to light a fire under my husband to start offering up suggestions instead of just shooting everything down. We are team green which I think makes it a little tougher. We had the same problem last time around and my daughter ended up nameless for two days after she was born because we still couldn't decide.
  • We've had his name picked since about 9 weeks! We had a boy and girl name picked and hope to use our girl name if we have a girl down the line.
  • Aw thanks @cmjn94 ! It's a really special name to us :)
  • We already had a boy and a girl name picked out prior to finding out I was pregnant since we had been trying a while. We're having a boy and we're naming him Jude. My two-year-old nephew calls him baby Judy. Cracks me up!
  • We can't seem to decide on a name. Team green and while we have a couple boy and a couple girl names as options, nothing has really stood out.
  • @beckles112 a million points for you and your SO if one or both of you sings 'Hey Jude' to him after he is born. I love that name and the song but DH hates the Beatles. So that name was vetoed quickly.
  • Yep, Amethyst

My husband plays it for him all the time and he kicks every single time. I argue that it's out of protest because he's tired of people singing it when we tell them his name, haha! My MIL bought the 45 of it as soon as we found out he's a boy. With all that being said, he's not named after the song. We just really like the name! :)
  • We have had a name picked out since we found out it was a girl but recently hubs has changed his mind and really likes the name jordyn . I like the name for a girl but hesitant because my maiden name is Jordan . So we are in constant back in forth between Sydney and Jordyn .
  • We are team green and struggling to agree on names. For the boy name, we have mostly agreed on a first name, but not the middle name. For the girl name, nothing. The names I love, he hates and vice versa. Good thing we still have some time to figure it out!
  • We're down to a short list of names, but haven't settled on any yet. DH promised to talk about it today, since I have my GD test and we'll be sitting waiting, anyway. ;)
  • @Aldermanbaby I actually think it would be really neat for your daughter have your maiden name. My maiden name is not first name worthy at all but I've considered using it as a middle name. I made it my middle name when I got married and took DH's last name.

We have not settled on names at all. We are team green so we also have to pick out two. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one in this boat.
  • Barring any last minute reconsiderations, we have picked Carolyn Elizabeth for our baby girl. :)
  • @devonsd315 I do really like the name jordyn for a girl I just feel like I have had that name my entire life and people would think its weird since its my maiden name. Do you think if we go with with it we should use the traditional spelling Jordan ? I just thought jordyn is more feminine?
  • I would go with Jordan, but I like traditional spelling of names. Jordan is a very "unisex" name but I don't think it needs a feminine spelling. And I definitely would NOT think it was weird if a friend of mine did this. I would think it would be a cool way to honor her side of the family.
  • We are pretty set on Coralie Ruth (Cora for short) but we're reserving the right to change our minds. We've told two good friends who we trust for honest feedback, but our lips are sealed for everyone else until she arrives. Except for you ladies, of course ;)
  • We have finally narrowed ours down to Sebastian or Trevor.  I don't remember it taking us so long to find a name for our 1 year old.

  • We are Team Green and have two names for each sex. We both agree on all names just waiting to meet the baby to decide.
  • We're 99% sure DD2 will be Piper Eliza Marigold.  The middle names are the ones not totally set, but if we don't come up with anything else before she's born, that will be her name.
  • I went through every name in the book at least 10times. My DH pretty much named my DD at 20weeks by just saying her name. He refused to change it, even when she was born, so I guess it is my turn. I picked Jacob, DH was not on board and actually disliked it till last week, I just kept saying his name. Also, out of all the names we tried out for a week here, and their, it is the only one that really makes me picture him. So I might win this one! ;)
  • We had a girl name, Isabella Rose, picked out right away but not a boy name. I've wanted to name my first boy, if I had one, Landon ever since I was 14.

We are having a boy! Haha

It took a long time but my fiancé finally agreed to Landon and I told him he can pick whatever he wants for a middle name.

He likes Landon Michael and Landon Nicholas so we'll see! It might be one of those or something else!
  • We've had names picked since about 18 weeks. For a girl we picked Genevieve Mae and for a boy Leo. We like Edward or Vincent as middle names but haven't completely decided.
  • We had a boys name picked out right away, Beck Storm, but of course we are having a girl and we couldn't agree for the longest time. We finally decided on Raegynn Rain. SO hated the traditional spelling of Reagan as it reminded him of Ronald Reagan. And he wanted Rain to be the middle name regardless of which first name we chose (we are both big weather fanatics and love chasing storms).

Haha, awesome. Congrats! It is a wonderful name!!

I know you're having a girl so this doesn't matter, but Beck Storm is a kick-ass name.

  • We had a girl and boy first name picked before I got pregnant... with boy/girls twins, it was easy. Middle names are what threw us.

I still tell people we don't have anything though... which is a twice daily occurrence as I'm on hospital bed rest and the nurses always ask. I still don't feel comfortable calling them by name, and it even catches me when the people that do know call them by their names.

Elyzah was my middle name choice for years! My best friend's middle name is Elizabeth, and then there is the Pride and Prejudice obsession. Buuutttttt... my husband vetoed it. :(
  • We had our names pretty much picked out when we were dating  :D

We did, too...and then I got pregnant and decided I no longer liked the girl name. My husband was appalled!! I can't explain it, it just lost its magic somehow. I thought we were so prepared on that front, ha!
  • I think we've narrowed it down to Lila, Amelia, or Elizabeth. The middle name will be Christine after my mom. I think we'll just wait patiently to meet her and see what sticks! :)

  • We are team green so for a boy it is pretty set on William Warren.  For a girl we have settled on Katherine, but are really struggling for a middle name we both like.
