1st Trimester

1st time moms in their 30's?

I'm sure there are a lot of us on here. Would love to learn more about you all!

I'm 33, got married late last year and we decided to start trying after our most recent vacation in May. We got lucky and will be at 9 weeks on Thursday. As it stands we're due in Feb 2016. We are both planners and avid travelers so we wanted to make sure we got out as much traveling as possible and were in a mental space to be good parents that could support our kids emotionally and financially.

Since I feel like I'm an "older" mom and we know we want 2, I'm already mentally planning for the second because I feel like my time is ticking? I don't know if anyone feels the same.

  • I feel the same way. I'm 32 and my husband is 35. We are 5 weeks today and are due March 2016. I'm sooooooo excited about the baby. We had a hard time getting pregnant and it took 14 months. I really want two kids as well. I'm happy yet very nervous because we haven't had our ultrasound yet. We have a trip planned for next month and I hope I can still go. Congratulations and good luck with your pregnancy.

  • Oh we are extremely excited. I think one of the happiest mornings of my life was seeing that sticks second line appear almost immediately. I'm sure you'll be able to go on your trip! You can still live your life. I think they are weary of you flying in your 3rd so you should be ok.

I often wonder if it's the pressure we put on ourselves that makes it harder sometimes. Congratulations!!
  • Hello I'm 30 and a first time mom. I will be 10 weeks this Saturday! Me and my boyfriend have been together for 10 years this October. We were sure one of us was infertile because we weren't trying but we also were not not trying to conceive. So you can imagine our surprise! We are so excited and so nervous, but looking forward to the new bundle and chapter in our lives! Congrats to all of you and best wishes!!!
  • I had my first at 30, 3 months before I turned 31. I'm 33 and pregnant with #2. I'll be 11 weeks Wednesday. To be honest there is no way I wasmental ready when I was younger
  • Hello there!

I am 31 years old and my husband is 42. We got married early June and I am currently 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant with our honeymoon baby (made in maui).

I feel the same way about 2 kids. I have been joking about Irish twins even before I got pregnant just so we can get them both born quick enough for us to retire at a reasonable age ;)

DH and I are both 33 (same bday!) and we got married two years ago after dating for 6 years. This is the first child for both of us and we are very excited even though it was a lucky surprise. I am due the first week of January. We are one of the last couples in our group of friends to have children, but most of our friends also "started later" at ages 27-30 or so.

I can honestly say that I am so glad that I didn't get married earlier or start having children earlier for a number of reasons. I feel like the time is more "right" for me now than it ever has been before.
  • I think my husband and I made the right decision for us in waiting until we were a little older to have kids. I wouldn't have been ready to slow down even five years ago. Our careers are secure and we're ready. This baby is going to get all the love and attention we have.
  • Hi everyone! I'm 30 and this is my first child; I'll be 7 weeks on Friday. DH and I have been married for 7 years, together for 9. We were not TTC, but I'm happy that this child came later rather than when we were first married. I too started thinking one of us was infertile since we have never had anything happen in 9 years. Good luck to everyone and I'm happy to meet you!
  • Congrats Fidgette!!

I am also 33 and I will be a first time mommy. I can honestly say I feel like I am at the perfect age. Though my goal in life was to always have kids before 35, to reduce the chances of any complications during pregnancy. I also want two, but not sure how soon we will start on the second.
My husband and I celebrated our 1st year wedding anniversary in April and weren't planning to start until early fall. I started taking prenatal vitamins in May and next thing I know I'm pregnant, currently 7 weeks and we are due in late February.

I would have been scared if I had children in my 20's, I'm finally in a career that I love and that pays well, I would've been struggling a bit. So time was ok my side. Anyway best of luck during your pregnancy.

I thought I was the only one who felt this way (the thinking you're infertile when not trying)! So relieved to hear it from someone else.

I'm 33 and going to be a first time mom. Been married almost two years and we've been trying for nearly three years to get pregnant. Finally got there! I always wanted to be a young mom and to have a huge family but life sometimes has other plans.
  • I am 33 and 7w3d pregnant with my first. I will be 34 before our baby is born. I am also mentally preparing for the second and hoping we see twins next week
  • Add me to the list! 37 years old, husband is 40 years old. This is our first pregnancy!!

There is also a Mom's Over 35 forum on this chat site. You should check it out. Lots of specific information about being a little older than other mommies and a lot of shared life situations.

    Nice meeting you all!
  • Hi! Me too, I'm 37 and my husband is 29. We are due on leap day, and couldn't be more excited.

    So nice to meet everyone.
  • Hi! I'm 32! And no worries! I'm very happy with the baby and I want one more for the future. I'm 9 weeks and 2 days.

I was a FTM at 34 (DS was born 2/6/14).  Now I'm due with my second in March and I'll be 36.  I NEVER planned to have them so close together but I figured since I'm now "AMA", I'd have #2 now so I can keep up while I still can!
  • I'm 32 and my husband is 45. We have been married for 4 1/2 years, and been trying for 5 1/2 years. I was almost at the point of throwing in the towel and just being content with the two of us since we are "getting older". I'm 6w1d today with my first BFP. I haven't had any scans or anything done yet (anxiously awaiting Aug 12th) but I'm super excited! Our friends all either have no children, or grown children.... It's going to be interesting!
  • I am 34 years and my fiance is 25. I am 4 weeks 3 days along. This will be our first and hopefully not our last if all goes well we'll have one more.I don't think it has truly hit me just yet. I feel like everyone has been waiting on me to have a child but I had a lot of things going on in my 20s with school and health. I'm in a much better place now.
  • I am 36 (will have just turned 37 when baby is born) and my husband is 33. We were just married June 6th, so this was a shocker to happen so fast. I was prepared for it to take a while and need fertility meds, since I have PCOS. Couldn't be happier. I am 6 weeks today. Lots to get done in the coming months!
  • I will be 31 and DH 34 by the time the baby comes and we couldn't be happier.  We tried for a little over a year and the timing couldn't be better.  Oddly enough, for the area where I live, I am considered a young mom!  Fortunately, DH and I are blessed to have very good jobs and while we know you can never prepare enough to have a baby, we feel confident that we are ready.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 9 months!

  • I'm 32 will be 33 by time baby comes. This is our first pregnancy hopefully we will have two more .
  • I'm going to be turning 30 in September (hubby just turned 30 this February), and I'm about 9 weeks right now (first OBGYN appointment tomorrow!)

This is my first pregnancy, and my hubby and I only are planning for one baby. Up until we found out I was pregnant last week, we had been TTC for 5 years, been told we were infertile, and had given up TTC in favour of adopting (we started the adoption process in March, and are almost done with our home study). • Husband and I will be 31 when baby comes. I feel like this is the perfect age (early to mid 30's). We are definitely not too old or young. It's just right :)
My husband and I didn't start trying til we were 30 because we feel that before that is too young. Most of my friends are just getting married, none of my close friends have babies yet.

  • Hello!
I am pregnant for the first time and I am 34.  My husband and I have been married for 9 years (As of July 9) and traveled internationally for the past 5 years in anticipation of getting "our travel out" before we started a family! My husband is also 34.  This will be our first baby and we are SO excited! My ultrasound is scheduled for today and I can't hardly wait! Here is hoping everything goes okay!
  • FTM over here, 31 at conception. Will be 32 when my sweet baby is born :)
My husband is 42 and he has two sons, my stepkids.
We are having a honeymoon baby and are both very excited. #madeinmaui
  • Hello! I am pregnant for the first time and we are having TWINS! I am 34 and hubby is 29. We have been married 2.5 years. This is so exciting! I'm hoping to have a boy and a girl. We are due February 18.
  • Hi everyone!

I am pregnant for the 3rd time but 2nd since I've been married to my DH for 2 years next month.
I am 31 and will be a FTM and DH 28 when baby is born, I'd planned to be married with children by this age but a few years behind on my life goals but everything has its perfect time.
Excited to finally be a mum like I've always wanted and God willing will have 3 or 4 more, I plan for the 2nd one to be close in age like me and my sister are (11 months apart)
Excited and cautiously taking one day at a time since I had a MC in April so this is our rainbow baby due MARCH 2016.
Very happy to be here and a h&h 9 months to us all!
  • I'm 32 and 12.5 weeks pregnant with our first. My husband is about to be 36. We love to travel too - took two big trips earlier this year before we got pregnant to Italy and Fiji, then we were lucky enough to get pregnant on our first month trying. We've planned a last little getaway to Florida in September, then we'll be in full baby mode :)
  • I'm 32 and hoping this pregnancy will give me my first :) The hubs and I have been together almost 7yrs, married for just over 2. My hubs is a Jr. so if this one is a boy he will be my DH's name the III. If it's a girl then I get to pick!

  • I got my BFP the day after I turned 30. DH is also 30, but will be 31 for the EDD of March. We both are like "ok we can handle this", we've been together 6 years, and both of us have grown a lot from our messed up youth. We both feel like we are behind but not everyone has gone through what we have, and we know we are mentally ready for kids-if not exactly where we wanted to be financially. We know we want 2, but we always planned on having one and adopting one. Hopefully in a few years we can start the ball rolling on adoption. I actually got pregnant right after I came back from a month and a half in the Netherlands (I was there studying). And we are both only children-so our parents are very very excited right now.

  • I just turned 37 and had my first child in March...and I just found out I am pregnant again...since this was a total surprise I am very cautious to be hopeful but since my first pregnancy was fairly simple I am hoping this one will be too.

As for becoming first time parents at 36, I feel that is a great age for us. We have been together since we were 21 and waited a long time and crossed a lot of things off our lists before having our daughter.  She is the most amazing baby and I am loving every minute of it all.

Congrats to all of the moms over 30!!!
  • Hi Meredith, I'm also 36, got married June 6 and got pregnant for the first time on our honeymoon, about a week later. We were also amazed that it happened so fast! I was expecting months of trying due to my age. I'll be 2 months shy of 37 by my due date. Hope all is going/ continues to go well with you!
  • First off congratulations. I'm 35 & my husband is 39, we've been married 13 yrs & at first we didn't want children but I realized how selfish that was. We tried for 4 yrs with 2 miscarriages. I'm now 6 wks along & mentally preparing for it to be 3 of us! I'm still very set in my ways but I know everything will change for the best ☺️
  • Hi Everyone,

I'm 33 (will be 34 when baby is born and my husband is 35. This will be my first and I am so excited. We were just married May 2015 after being together for 7 years. We knew we wanted to have a baby as soon as possible but I never expected it to happen so quickly. I will be at 6 weeks tomorrow and am due at the end of March. Excited to see so many others on here and congrats to everyone.
  • I'm 33, husband is 37 and this is our first pregnancy. I truly feel like this is the right time for us. We've been together for 12.5 years, married for 8.5 and have taken this time to enjoy each other's company and travel LOTS! In addition, I am a physician and did 8 years of residency training (finished 2 summers ago), and at that time I thought it would not be fair to bring a child into the world when I knew I wouldn't have time to dedicate to him/her. Now we got to a point where we feel mature, accomplished, well traveled and financially stable , so we are soooo ready!
  • I'm 31 and my husband is 38. We're having our honeymoon baby March/April. :) my husband has a child from a previous relationship who is now 18! He is much more financially and mentally prepared for this little one. I always thought that I wanted to have a cold when I was younger, but, honestly, I feel much more emotionally and financially ready, as well as physically fit. I'm glad we waited! We're can't wait! :)
  • Hi all!  38 here and this is my first pregnancy.  My boyfriend is 41 and has a 17 yo daughter from a previous marriage.  I'm about 6 weeks, but we don't have a due date yet.

We are thrilled about this baby even though it was unplanned.  I'm absolutely petrified that I'm going to miscarry.

Anyone else have the same fear?  Thanks!
  • Hey all
I'm 33 and 12 weeks with my first. A few days ago I started cramping and spotting :(. We are traveling right now and I don't have any medical set up yet. We went to the walkin clinic and they checked my cervix and said it's still closed so that's good. There was no ultrasound machine tho :(. I did see a ultrasound at 6 week and there was a HB of 150 so I hope I'm all good still. Anyone else have these symptoms? We won't be home till the middle of Sept and this waiting to know and have a proper check up is killing me. Ohh also anyone else have an older husband? My hubs is 53. Surprisingly we concived first try:)
