Re: 7/23 unpopular opinion Thursday

  • Don't slam me for this but I find it a bit strange/funny when any LO has an ailment on here and breastmilk is always the suggested solution! Why have modern medicine if we can just boob milk it up!?! I'm not saying it doesn't work - just saying that I for one will not be squirting it in his eye!

Hahaha I wouldn't squirt it in anyone's eye either- this made me LOL

Haha!! LO had a clogged tear duct and I must admit I tried it and it worked!
Omg I did it too. Felt stupid but it worked for us.
  • Worked as in... the tear duct became unclogged??? I have been hesitant ti try the breastmilk but I'm getting tired of watching poor LO's eyelids getting stuck together.

If it works, why not?? It's a free solution! :) I'm not 100% convinced it healed my LOs blocked tear duct or if it cleared up on its own but I'd still try it again.

I'm admitting that when i go back to work if i didn't have enough milk frozen i'll allow MIL to give LO camomile tea, my family has been doing that for generations I know it doesn't make it right but it's better than letting LO starve

I pray to god it doesn't come to that though.

Yes! I did it 2 times a day and after 2 days it was cleared.

Not sure if there's enough nutrients in that and your little one may still be hungry. :-(

With my first LO I wound up adding more water than I should to formula because we were broke. Sure he didn't always get the nutrients he was supposed to get, but he got his tummy filled...more than I could say for daddy and I.

it's my opinion that most SIDS prevention things are bs. Some ppl who follow the "rules" still lose a baby to it while others pay no heed and everything's dandy.
  • We kind of ignore SIDS prevention suggestions. Baby will sometimes sleep on her belly, with a blanket, in a bouncer, in a swing, or in the car seat. That usually goes on while I'm awake and right by her but sometimes I'll nap, play with the toddler, or do chores. I'll also let baby's nails grow way too long since she doesn't scratch herself. I leave her in a room with my cat, I heard you shouldn't do that because the cat will smell the milk and try to drink it out of baby's mouth. So far my cat is very uninterested in getting near the LO though.

    These are not opinions.....
  • This reminds me of my opinion. I hope it's not unpopular.

There are a few people here who need to use periods in their posts. Sentences are helpful. Stop the run on sentences! I may have advice (see, I used it correctly) but I can't without critiquing the grammar so I say nothing.

Ladies- I'm sorry but please let's sort out the difference in "advise" and "advice".

Advice is something you give or receive- it's a noun. Advise is the verb.

Example- I advised her to learn to spell. She took my advice and bought a dictionary.

Can I add loose is not lose?!?!?!
Hahahaha - how about on the bump (many years ago) no one could spell AISLE.
  • I know I'm a few days late (or is it early?) lol but I really dislike that people care about what percentile their baby is in. Who cares?! They're healthy and happy. #pleasedontcrucifyme

I've only seen it on here a few times but I crack up when people write "I can't breath"

    It's BREATHE!
  • Looks like this is a weekly thread I'll be steering clear of... still a lot of judgement considering it specifically states "No judgement".

I'm pretty sure that means no judgement of our opinions, not judgement of others in our opinions.

    Regardless, there have been both.

You're right. This is a thread that can quickly dissolve into snarkiness and is not for everyone.

What specifically are you referring to? The only judgment I saw was the one calling out the girl with the chamomile tea.
