It can be managed. It can also become HELLP if mismanaged. I lived on magnesium sulfate, I remember very little from the months I lived in a hospital. Mag is horrific. My three other kids were raised by a friend/dh. Life was crazy... But you know what? It was short lived. If you can post on a forum chances are you don't need to terminate.

I am sorry you went through this. My very good friend also had HEELP and felt the exact same way about the magnesium citrate.

But I get mag citrate infusions every other week. For me they are a lifesaver make me feel so much better. I just wanted to post that not everybody has that same reaction in case if people might need it in the future. There are tons of women that get mag that tolerate it well.

Again, I'm very sorry for what you went through. I know how awful it is and know that I'm sending T&Ps your way for a H&H9.

*typos and ETA- OP- can you provide us with some more details? Can you tell us what kind of kidney and heart problems you were having specifically?
I'm Sorry your going through that @BostonBaby1 ! I think there must be a difference between citrate/sulfate..
Oh... That was a typo. I didn't catch it but I mean mag sulfate. Mag citrate is the pill form. I'm not sure if they even make mag citrate to go in via IV. It's really not bad for me. I also have a port-a-cath though, so I don't have to deal with the burning in my veins.

I'm sorry that you dealt with HEELP. It almost killed my friend it was horrific! She had the same experience with the mag, but maybe it just affects you differently if you're that sick? I'm not sure. i'm pretty sure that it can also vary based upon how fast the infuse you. When I'm in the hospital, I can get 2grams every 45 minutes totaling 4grams. I need to be on a heart monitor when they do it that fast though. When I do it at home, I get 4 g over four hours. The only side effect that I get are sleepiness and sometimes needing to go to the bathroom. It seems that the symptoms are worse than faster they infuse.

Again, I'm sorry that you went through that and hopefully you'll never have to deal with it again!

@groovylocks you're calling people out for not supporting (twice) but not offering any yourself. image OP, please update us if you're able. Best wishes to you and your family.
I'm sorry, where i come from telling somebody to stop harping on somebody who is dealing with the unthinkable IS offering support. I'm sorry i didn't spell it out.

Op, obviously I am here to listen as much as possible. I have no idea what I'd do in your situation and I am not one for giving advice when there is no right answer.

Really, Dr. Seuss references? I think I just saw my pineal gland with the eye roll I had to do for that. The policing on these boards is annoying... want to tell people how to bump? Become an admin. But trolling posts and being rude and sarcastic to people is just as bad as the people being quoted in the comments. We are all adults here on a public Internet forum and people are going to say what they want. You aren't going to like everything everyone says or how they say it, but micromanaging people and nitpicking about what everyone else is saying is just a recipe for drama. Let it go. Always the same people complaining and starting mess than saying everyone else is mean, rude or obnoxious. Pot meet kettle, and mirrors are your friend.
It's one thing to dislike what somebody has to say, it's another thing to pick apart a thread like the one this op has posted and question its validity. What this woman is dealing with is horrific. I was, and continue to be, shocked that this is the first place people went with it. And babbling at me isn't going to change my mind.

I'm not telling people how to post nor am I interested in being an admin. People can say whatever they want. These people include myself.

    Cool how that works, huh?
  • Lmao "babbling"... I'll let it go. Not worth it

Just wanted to say mag citrate also comes in a liquid and it is usually used for a good colon cleansing.

  • What's a TOU violation??

I think most people are saying, if you are going through such a traumatic experience, why would you be worried about posting on a forum, not necessarily if you have your phone with you.  I think if I was faced with this decision, I wouldn't be on the bump.....

  • This is a very big decision, OP. I hope you do what is best for yourself, your loved ones, and your baby.

  • Personally I don't find it that unusual. I hope it's MUD because it's a horrible situation that I'd hate to see anyone in. My MIL was forced to terminate when it was dicovered she had an aggressive form of uterine cancer and she has struggled deeply with this. I wouldn't wish it on anyone and hope OP doesn't have to either.

The reason I don't see it as unusal, I've been in the hospital scared and alone and went to a web forum for support. Then frequently things start moving and while there was an opportunity to post during a quiet time, it's hard to find it again or you're caught up in what's happening and forget. This may not be the case but maybe a possible theory would help some of you wondering.
  • I agree. Someone that would take time out of their day for a nasty reply?…sad.
  • OP, any updates or info you'd like to share ? Let us know, so we can help.

WHO is being nasty toward OP? Simply asking or wondering if this is MUD is not "nasty". If OP came back and said, "this is serious, here is some more info" all those same people that are supposedly so "nasty" would come back and offer sympathy, guaranteed. One post was removed and maybe that was nasty, but I don't think it was even directed to the OP (I am not sure about that though, I never saw the actual post).

Eta- I went back and reread all responses and saw that now there are a few posts removed for TOU violations... But still none towards OP. Anyways, read the article @CMDD posted about opinions. It's a good one.
