no fetal pole found

I had a U/S done at what we thought I was 5 weeks and 6 days pregnant. I was told that my numbers were high and doubling like they're supposed to be. When we got the results back from the U/S they said everything looked fine and the machine put me at 6 weeks and 4 days but they couldn't find a fetal pole and told me not to worry that it happens sometimes during early pregnancy. I can't help but worry til my follow up U/S next Thursday. This is my first pregnancy and I'm worried to death. No morning sickness, breast aren't sore....has any one else dealt with something like this?

    Hi,
    First of all congrats! And I'm sure by the time you go back you will see something more. 5W ultrasound is still super early and the difference a week could make could be from not seeing the fetal pole to hearing a heartbeat.
    Haven't gone through it at the moment as I'm only 5+1 but I know that baby is growing rapidly these first couple of weeks.

    I had the same thing when I thought I would have been 8 weeks. And I only was showing to be like 5 weeks. Turned out I ovulated 3 weeks late.

    I had ultrasound at 5 weeks 3 days only seen gs and yolk sac..went back wed at 6 weeks 3 days same thing I'm an ultrasound tech this scared me so I went to work had Co worker scan and not only can u see fetal pole you can see heartbeat..my point is it could very a crappy machine and/or person doesn't know how to scan

    I went for an u/s at 5 weeks and all we saw was the gestational sac and what they said could have been the beginning of the yolk sac. I went back 13 days later at 7 weeks and saw a heart beating at 131 bpm! So I know it is hard, but try to relax. It is still early.

    Things are developing so fast right now that I think its totally normal to see nothing at that time and then a week or so later see a baby. I have no obvious symptoms right now and didn't with my first pregnancy either. With DS I didn't really get any until around 8-9 weeks when I experienced morning sickness until around 16 weeks. I know its super hard not to worry but I am sure something will be there on thursday!

    This is one reason a lot of places don't do early U/S
