Low follicle size and count on Follistim

Has anyone else had trouble producing more than one follicle or even one big enough on Follistim? I started on this last cycle with 100iu for 5 days and then 150iu for 4 nights. I only had one follicle that only grew to 16 and then started surging on my own so no IUI this cycle.
Last month I produced one 18 follicle so it was big enough but I surged on my own so this makes two failed injectable cycles. This is only my second month of injectables so I don't know if others have had this problem and then ending up growing bigger ones after a few "trial and error" cycles?

    i kept surging on my own too, my doctor decided to start follistem a day earlier and trigger sooner to beat my body at doing what it wanted to do naturally. I usually produce 2-5 follicles around mature size on 150iu, but one cycle he had to up my dosage to 250iu because I wasn't responding fast enough... I ended up surging. i think it takes a while for the doctor to see how patients respond to medicine befor e they make a decision to change. Best wishes and hope your ttc journey isn't much longer!
    Ttc since March 2012 Me: 24 Dh: 25 Mother of many fur/feathered-babies! 3 dogs (Phoenix,Lacey,Piper), 4 cats (Grace,Delilah,Elvira,Birdie), 7 ducks, and 4 hens! HSG came back normal, Diagnosis: DOR, Last FSH reading: 17, Failed 3 rounds of clomid with timed intercourse, Failed 3 rounds of follistem with Noveral and timed intercourse, Failed 1 round unmedicated IUI, Failed 1 round medicated IUI

    Hi I am not sure about IUI since I had to go straight to IVF but have your doctors thought about giving you something to stop ovulation until your follies are big enough? Ganirelex does that. And then when they are big enough they give the trigger. My advice could be totally wrong though so good luck sorry about the failed cycles I know how much it sucks!

    The RE nurse mentioned that (I meant to put that in my post, my bad) and said I may want to request that on my next cycle. I don't know about you anyone else's nurses but mine do NOT like to talk about the next cycle until you have a BFN. I'm hoping that my RE will let me do that bc I had a tendency to do that with Clomid as well. @MKLEWIS2010

    @Cbowden12 that's a good idea to start early. I may ask about that the next cycle. When your cycle is a bust your 2ww sucks too. You are just ready for AF to get the show on the road.
    I have so far only had one cycle where I produced more than one mature follicle and then it was only 2. A 23 and an 18. Thanks for the advice.
