One of my girlfriends was asking when do I get my first U/S and I said 12wks...she then told me that I should totally lie to my OB/GYN and say I've been spotting to see if she'll get me an U/S.
Have any of you done this?
I feel like if I do I would jinx my pregnancy and something horrible will happen. Am I a wimp?

That is horrible!! Spotting/cramping is scary enough when you go through it I can't imagine lying about it!
please tell me you're joking
I was shaky on the exact date of my LMP, so I played that up a bit in hopes of an U/S. I did get one.
I wouldn't lie about spotting or cramping, though. Bad joujou.
I know the waiting's hard!! I went through it with my first. Hang in there!
Thats exactly what I was just thinking.. That is an awful thing to do. God forbid you DO start spotting then you are really going to need one. and spotting is no fun at all. trust me. brings your worry that you already had to the max. Ask you Doctore for one. They wait for a reason.
This is a really horrible and disgusting thought. How would you feel if you really had been spotting, and they told you "sorry we had too many people in here with fake spotting, so we can't verify your pregnancy now".
I really hope you tell your friend that karma is a biitch.
Ditto. Just wait till 12 weeks.
Here's another thought, with DD we had an ultrasound at 7 weeks to date the pregnancy, and while the heartbeat was a beautiful sound, the picture was just a little bean. If you wait until 12 weeks, then you will actually get to see arms and legs, and your baby will actually resemble a baby!
They would probably do one at 12 weeks only to date the pregnancy, and if you had one earlier, they might just use the one you already had. I don't think insurance companies really like paying for them.
With this baby, we won't have an ultrasound until 10 wks, and I am excited to have one farther along this time!
Be patient, it will get here!
LMAO @ JouJou...I love Grey's..Speaking of...tonight is the big night!!
I wouldn't lie to get one, especially if I was as far along as you are. You wouldn't see much anyways. My FIs mom told me that some woman come into the doctors office and say they don't know how far along they were and they were told something different at the hospital just to get an u/s.
The way I look at it is the doctors know what they are doing and if they feel an u/s is important and needed then they will do one.
Not joking...My girlfriend is totally serious about it AND she said that she did it for both of her pregnancies - Thank goodness that I'm not the only one with a conscience. I just feel that something bad would totally happen.
I don't want anything to happen to my little poppy seed
I've never lied to my OB/GYN (and never would). Especially with that type of horrible situation.
You're not a wimp. You seem to be a person with values and morals. Keep it that way.
P.S. You should not only NOT want to lie for fear of karma, but because it's wrong and childish as well (not to mention selfish).
no - sounds like you have a soul.
don't you dare even think about doing that.

::Shrugs::
I had an u/s at 7 weeks and it was just a white line. Although we heard the hb and it made me feel better. It's a temporary feeling and you don't see much, and a week later I was wondering about the baby.
My next u/s isn't for a month (for testing) and that's the one I'm really excited about because it will look like a baby, not just a cloud.
If you're really uncomfortable call the health department and say you are pregnant but you don't know how far along you are and they might do one... or just ask your OB for one. You'll have to pay for it but DO NOT lie.
amen
Um, you shouldn't do that. Why?
Because it will become part of your medical record. And if it wasn't true, then that would be falsifying medical records, which I believe is a crime.
I could be wrong, but you still shouldn't lie to get an earlier u/s. Your inisurance might not cover more than a pre-determined amount of them anyway.
I didn't get my first until 20 weeks...and my last at 24 to check my placenta. Don't lie...it'll bite you in the ass eventually.
