Yes if I get the craving later in the pregnancy, I'm not against having a beer. I see it the same as a glass of wine being ok!
Actually in Ireland they used to have Guinness ads with a woman complaining of pregnancy symptoms and the doctor saying "have a Guiness, it's good for you!"
I had no clue about soft serve ice cream! I am going to pretend I didn't read this haha! I am going to probably cheat with coffee and maybe occasionally a deli sandwich
I had DQ and caffeine with my first. This time I have followed all the guidelines, but I will probably end up giving in to the deli meats. I have been craving a good sub sandwich!

I just avoid the obvious stuff like sandwiches or things that have been sitting out for hours. Most cheese is pasteurized so no big deal. I'll take a tiny sip of wine or beer every once and a while (couple drops kind of sip)
I cheated a lot with my first 2 pregnancies. I had sushi once or twice with both. Also, I always crave ice cream when I'm preggers, so I had soft serve every so often, when I didn't have a pint of Ben & Jerry's in the freezer. I ate a lot of sweets, too, along with Subway or Jimmy John's once in a while. I, also, probably drank more coffee than I should've.
This time, I'm really trying hard to limit my coffee intake, but it's so hard because this is, by far, the most exhausted I've been while pregnant and I'm only 4 weeks. I did have soft serve once so far, but other than that, I've really been good so far. Of course, like I said, I'm only 4 weeks along so that could change within the next 36 weeks (give or take).
I had a blizzard from DQ last night. Not limiting my ice cream intake (although it's not sounding as good this time around) - between that and the need for hot wings (my boys' cravings were hamburgers and chocolate peanut butter ice cream), this might be a girl

I had a 20 course sushi tasting menu last week, with sips of sake. Not even a little bit sorry. I wish I could drink as much coffee as I want, but just like last time, it's the first food aversion to pop up. Screw you, MS.
I accidentally had Jimmy John's the other day. Oops. And I had a tiny glass of diet coke this morning. It felt soooo good! Other than that I'm trying to be good!

Diet coke! Why has no one else mentioned this unholy addiction?!? I know I'm not the only one.....right? [-O<
I have a can every morning!
I would have an IV of diet coke if it were socially and medically acceptable. But alas it's not and I've been working on cutting out soda for about 6 months. It goes in waves, but the pregnancy should help me wean my addiction for good.
Who said anything about diet coke? Ain't nothing wrong with diet coke except the caffeine, and I drink caffeine-free diet sodas. My doctor didn't say anything! (hoards cf coke zeros obsessively)
Anyways, my husband knows I'm not "supposed" to have sushi so now I don't know if I can get away with it anymore. He doesn't know about soft serve, though. I'm gonna be all over that this weekend.

I haven't had a can in over 2 weeks. Every time I reach for one I get the judgy side eye from the hubs. I know there's nothing wrong with one a day but he's not convinced and is uber protective over this little one already. Never thought I'd be the one to sneak soda in the middle of the night but it may come to that!
Coffee!!!! My husband has turned into the friggin coffee police though! Now I have to sneak my iced coffee! Grrrrr. Soft serve is a no no?! Say what? ! No way in hell am I giving that up! Lol. Nor am I giving up cheese! Who would ever give up cheese?!
I'm still super early, almost 4 weeks. I've been drinking a zero calorie/zero sodium monster energy drink every day for the past 2 years ( I worked 2 jobs in that time period, it was the only thing that kept me going...I don't like coffee). Anyway, I plan on not drinking any while pregnant, but dear god the fatigue is killing me! I literally have to take a several hour nap after waking up before I get ready for work (I work afternoon shift). I caved and had a monster today. I drank it slowly and didn't finish the whole can. Also I googled the crap out of all the ingredients beforehand too. The total amount of caffeine in the white can is 140 mg, and I've read its okay to consume 200mg a day. I still plan on not drinking them...but maybe I will have half a can every once in a while, when I feel like I really need some caffeine.
And I didn't know about the ice cream either. I guess that means no DQ pumpkin blizzards in the fall????? This baby better love me, hahaha!
The occasional beer is my downfall. Granted, I did hours of research to find out if there was any danger in it and discovered that the beer or wine every so often won't hurt anything. That and caffeine. However I noticed a tiny bit of caffeine now goes a loooong way - not sure if that's because of the hormone changes or if it's all in my head.

I'm from the UK originally and have lived in Latin America for many years before moving to the US, I must say that food standards (in particular what is allowed to be put in foods) are much higher in the UK than the U.S. However, I've had stomach issues in both countries including painful bloating and not one sign of that whilst living in Latin America and stuffing my face with street food every day. I think everything in moderation and being smart about soda and meat products, I know many cannot afford organic but growing your own is also so rewarding and cheap..
I will admit that I'm totally put off by food at the moment, not sure if it's baby or just an upset stomach but tonight I ate smoked salmon and about 2 weeks ago had raw tuna sashimi ( from somewhere that I knew would be of good quality ) fish, especially raw is my weakness and my favorite thing to eat so whilst it will be in moderation, I don't believe small portions of fish low in Mercury every few weeks can be harmful
Just saw that someone mentioned cheese - most cheese at they say is off limits is ok in the USA as it's got to have been made with pasteurized milk to be sold legally ( in Europe it wouldn't have to be) so you can eat away at most yummy cheese with no prob !
I'm still eating Subway all of the time! I get them toasted though, so that's ok, right? It's one of the only things that sounds good with all of this nausea! And I had DQ yesterday... Nowhere but this thread has told me not to have it, so I'm having it
I've been drinking a small mug of black coffee every morning. Before I knew I was pregnant or knew these things were bad, I had beer, feta cheese, frozen yogurt, deli meat. I will probably have these things again, except the beer. I think it's ok to have one beer later in the pregnancy (just like wine) but by then I might feel like there is no point in chancing it.
I also was emptying the cat litter box before I found out-- making my husband do it now and not tempted to cheat on that one!!
i haven't touched the kitty's shit sand in over 5 years (since i got pregnant with #1)! Husband has been a real trooper about that one LOL i eat my steak pretty much bleeding rare. looking forward to sushi tomight!

Most soft cheese is totally fine if it is made in the US because it is pasteurized. Soft cheese is a no-no if it is from France or somewhere they don't pasteurize it, which is rare and expensive. I eat soft cheese all the time! I don't really like deli meat so that is not tempting for me. I drink half a cup of coffee per day and with my last pregnancy I enjoyed a small glass of wine a couple of times later in the pregnancy. I don't feel guilty about any of it. If I thought it was that bad I wouldn't have done it.
Subway/Jimmi Johns secret: Ask them to nuke the deli meat for 30 seconds for you, until steaming. Then its totally safe to eat and you have no worries about listeria. Same thing with soft cheeses. If you heat them up to steaming they are safe whether they're pasturised or not.
I've watched way too many episodes of Monster's Inside of Me (show about parasites) and there were a few episodes with pregnant women who ate things they shouldn't and the damage that happened to them and their baby. I'm paranoid that way so I don't cheat.
