Ovarian hyper stimulation? Anyone experience this?

Having a bit of a panic...
It has been 12 days since our egg retrieval and I started getting some cramping and serious bloating. I have not seen my doctor yet, but when we spoke over the phone she mentioned ovarian hyper stimulation. I am wondering if anyone has dealt with this. Any suggestions on treatment? Thanks for your help!

  • Brie- how long did it take for symptoms to go away? I'm going crazy over here, pain is intense and I'm barely sleeping through the night.
  • Yes I have seen my dr. She diagnosed me with mild OHSS. But besides drinking Gatorade, I wasn't given any other instructions on how to make this go away.
  • The best thing to do is take it easy. Lay in bed with snacks and Netflix. Just make sure you stay in touch with the doctor because OHSS can be serious. Feel better soon

  • I had OHSS after my third egg retrieval. I was told to drink 2-3 liters of gatorade a day and to use a heating pad. Hope you are feeling better!

Hoping you feel better now! Heating pad for sure. For some reasons, doing light walking and some movement helped ease my pain. I don't know if it was a mental thing, but every time I was lying down, it was worse.

My over stimulation on clomid was so bad, that I could actually see a bump/protrusion... even DH noticed it.
  • Thank you for the support! My dr mentioned sleeping at an angle/ upright would prevent fluid build up and it did work. I've been sleeping with multiple pillows and I have seen a difference in my bloating. I would recommend that to anyone that is suffering along with me!
  • Do they confirm this diagnosis with any imaging or just the symptoms? I'm curious because I am on 5th cycle of clomid and in mid-cycle (ovulating), w bloating and abdominal discomfort like never before. I actually look pregnant- this could be constipation so I've held off on calling my OB GYN (sorry TMI), but I will if this continues.. Hoping you feel better soon!
  • @lovelifewife they diagnosed me with OHSS by listening to my symptoms, going in for an external US, and touching my belly. Like you, I literally looked three to four months pregnant.
  • Thanks. My doc said I've got a mild case- I feel so much sympathy for those that have worse cases..hope you are feeling somewhat better! I feel ya on the sleepless night- this has been a long 2 days so far for me of feeling crummy.
