This is our first and we had our first sonogram/ultrasound on 7/16. Our nickname is "Pebble" because from the surface he/she looks like a pebble but internally he/she looks like a peanut. For whatever reason, Pebble stuck!
I've decided this baby's NN is Baby Skywalker because, hot damn, the symptoms are strong with this one!! I don't remember being so tired, moody, thirsty, bloated, gassy, nauseous, or sore with DD!!
@alphabetfish - I love Tim Tams! I just bought a very overpriced package of them last week. It's an Australian biscuit (cookie). They carry them here in the States. You can find them at places like Cost Plus World Market (or other places that sell imported foods) and sometimes at Walmart and Target (Oct-April I do believe). You should look up "Tim Tam Slam", get a package, and do it with your SO when the weather gets cooler.
No nicknames for ours yet. We are still just referring to it as "the baby."
Our little ball of cells is currently "Maybe Baby." With a history of loss we try not to get too excited and tend to often speak in conditional terms like "If this, then that," etc. I honestly don't know how it started but that's it's likely to be called until we are in the clear!
Also it reminds me of Arrested Development and I'm ok with that.
My sister-in-law was calling her baby Bean and it really STUCK, so even now that he's born and has a nice name everyone is still calling him Bean
With my son, I made the off hand comment to a friend that i wanted a "sticky" baby (my mom had 3 miscarriages before having me and they never knew why, so i just wanted this baby to stick). My friend thought it was funny/cute and started calling the baby that. When he was born, she started calling him Stickolas, combining "sticky" and his name. 2 years later, she still uses it with him.
So far me and DH have just been calling the baby Tinsley..because they is our girls name we have had picked out since before we found out DS was a boy and we are hoping for a girl this time although I feel like we will have another boy which is totally fine by me. We have been calling our second baby Tinsley since way before I was PG. I like peanut and that is the nickname I gave the baby on the Ovia app.
We've been calling our LO Panda. (Since this is a surprise pregnancy. My last DS was born almost 9 years ago.) Female pandas are only fertile 1 day a year, so... It just clicked with us. Plus, I kind of have Panda-sized babies. DS 1 was 10lbs 1oz, and DS 2 was 10lbs 6oz. Lord, help me!
@oceanchild I love Stormageddon! I was trying to get "Little Adipose" to stick but it didn't roll off the tongue well enough I guess. Plus, not just a blob of fat cells, lol.
I've taken to calling the baby Little Fish. I figure that s/he is swimming around in there for the next few months.... And also is due to be born a Pisces.
I am a nanny and because hiding it would have been nearly impossible with all the phone calls and such, everyone at work knows. The kids are really interested in the pictures as the embryo grew. At some point they decided the baby looked like a squishy ball. And the name stuck! Baby Squishy!
In general I've been saying I'm having a Kitten. We have 4 cats and they are constantly staring at me and wanting to sit on me now so I've been telling them "Mommy is having a kitten" and it has just kinda stuck for me. Plus it annoys DH which is always a bonus in my book.
DD: Beatrix Louise aka BeeBop. April 2 2016. H.I.E Warrior
We call it our little alien. It's a joke that started when my step-mother (who had gave us all a surprise) was pregnant with my godson because he looked like an alien in the high res ultrasound. It's become our go to name for unborn babies.
