I call my grandparents Grandmother and Grandfather. My mom hates how formal that name is. We were discussing names a couple weeks ago and I think we decided on Mimi and Papa. My MIL wants to be Nana and DH's stepdad will be called Pup Pup, which is a family tradition on his side.
I've realized that all bets are off when it comes to what kids are going to call people. My niece calls my mom 'momma' and my dad 'Bill' and my nephew calls his grandma 'B' even though her name is Heide.
On husbands side it will be nan and granddad, as they already have a grandkid. My parents were talking about it last week and don't have specifics set. For some reason my mom really wants my dad to be called boompa, but he (and me a little) thinks its kind of strange, so it probably won't stick.
My mom wants to be called Gammy and my MIL wants to be called mamaw. I have three sets of grandparents and am wondering what in the world my LO will call them.

@vwitchhazel That's so true. I responded with what we're assuming the kid will call everyone...but my whole life I called my grandparents Liz and Joe lol. All the other grandchildren called them Gommie and Pops, but they watched me when my parents were at work and that's what they called each other. So when I started to talk I called them that too and it stuck! You had a really good point!
Have nieces/nephews on both sides so names are already determined. My mom is gram and step dad is grandpa Dan. My dad is pawpaw. My FIL just wanted to be called grandpa but my niece calls him peepaw. My MIL passed away nearly two years ago so she didn't get to hear anyone call her anything but wanted to be called mimi, so that's what we'll tell our kids.
LO will only have one set of Grandparents and their last name is Mason. The other grandkids call them Grandma and Grandpa Mace so that's probably what my babies will use.
MIL wants to be Grandy. My sister is Aunt Kiki and my mom wants to be Mimi. My dad has a nephew who calls him popo (he's a police officer) so I think that's what we're going to stick with haha
We call my mom "Grandma," MIL wanted to be called "Nana" then changed her mind so we got creative and call her "Grandma Julie" and FIL is "Grandpa." My dad is "Granddad" and stepmom is "Grandma Kate." We've told them all if they prefer something else we're happy to go with it.
I've got the good ol' fashioned mixed family...LO will probably follow my nephew and call my father "Pepe" which is grandfather in French and my stepmom "Basaan" which is grandmother in Japanese. I guess we like to honor our heritage. My mom will probably be called whatever name the baby comes up with first...my nephew calls her "Addy", which was a first attempt at Grandma Netty and it stuck.
Pretty sure both sides just want the classic grandma and grandpa. Although, it's so true what PPs said about kids deciding for themselves. My nephew called my grandpa (his great-grandpa) "Papa" because that's what his great-grandpa on his other side was called. I was amazed that he pieced the generation lineup together all on his own!
My mom's name is Bobbie and we have 4 grandmas so she said she wanted "BB" (beebe). My one MIL wants nanny (I hate but whatevs lol). No clue on the others, no decisions yet lol.
Really though, sometimes it's just what the kid comes up with, especially if they're the 1st one!
DS started calling grandpas by Papa (even though we said grandpa) because it was all he could pronounce for a while. Even though his language skills have improved he still uses Papa. I think it's cute but we'll see how long it lasts when the other grandkids all day grandpa.
For grandmas DS used to say mama. But I prefer mama to mommy so I've trained him to use grandma or granny for my mom and MIL and mama for me.
My parents are grandma and papa and my IL are Nana and grandpa. My parents were already set due to my nieces and nephews and my IL chose what they wanted to be called.
My dad is Grandpa and my mom is Mimi (she's vain about being called 'grandma' even though this will be her third. MIL will prolly just be Grandma. My grandparents will be Mama (pronounced mawmaw) and Papa (pawpaw) since that's what me and my sister called them and now my nieces do. Other side will be Grandma Lastname. And hubby's grandma will either be Grandma Lastname or whatever else she picks, first on that side. It's so interesting to hear all of the different names people use.
My IL already have grandkids and go by Noni (no-nee) and Papa. My mom keeps changing her mind about this as this is her first. My dad is not the type to think about this stuff and will probably end up just granpa.
My parents are both in their 40s and are not ready for the grandma/grandpa thing lol. My mothers name is Sabrina so she wants to be called Mina & my father wants LO to call him big guy lol
I have a rather odd and extended family. My parents divorced when I was young and both have new life partners. My father had another previous marriage that dissolved after many years and her being a "bonus Mom" to me. My SO's parents are also divorced but it was more recent. My DS and LO will have; Honey (MIL as that was what they called one of their grandmothers and it was her request), Pop and Mimi (FIL and his girlfriend), Grammie Goodwin and Grampie Smith (My mother and her partner), Gramma and Grampa Frost (My father and his wife), and Nana (my bonus Mom).
I already have a niece and nephew so my Dad is Happy. My mom passed away but we call her Gigi when talking about her, and my husband's parents are Grumpy (bc we thought it was funny after already having a happy) and Mia (DD calls her Niya though), and the step granddad wants to go by Newtsie. She doesn't call him anything at the moment however.
My parents are Grandma and Granddaddy, and my in laws are Nana and Pepaw. My grandmother, and my husband's are Great-Grandma, and my other grandmother is Mema to everyone who knows her.
Grandma and grandpa but the names my kids have called them when learning to talk have been cute. My daughter called them Gaga and Baba and my son currently calls them Anya and Baba. My daughter also calls my parents Regular Grandpa and Grandma and my husband's parents Silly Grandma and Grandpa. I'm not really sure how the "regular" got started maybe because we see them more.

My mom and late father are Ammachi and Appacha (my Indian language is Malayalam). Hubby's parents are Oma And Opa (my SIL already has kids so we all follow their kids).
I have two kids already and 3nieces and 3 nephews so my mom is booma her husband is papa D and my dad is old man dont know what my FIL will be seeing my other two are drom a previous marriage and this is our first together MIL died 3 years ago but DH says shes the babys guardian angel .
Being as though my mom just turned 37 on Thursday she's already made it clear she's not grandma lol so they better call her ma, or Mimi or something other than grandma related.
Re: What will LO call grandparents?
DH side is Granny and Grandpa
DS1 2010
DS2 2013
DD1 2016
My dad is "Granddad" and stepmom is "Grandma Kate."
We've told them all if they prefer something else we're happy to go with it.

My boyfriends parents are just simply grandma and grandpa. Its their first grandchild, and we let them decide what they wanted to be called
My daughter called them Gaga and Baba and my son currently calls them Anya and Baba.
My daughter also calls my parents Regular Grandpa and Grandma and my husband's parents Silly Grandma and Grandpa.
