@samanthafavorite@Kristin712, a girl I work with is pregnant with twins and she's told me multiple times that she craves beer sometimes, so she gives in and has a few sips. I had to really bite my tongue when she was telling me this!
@Alyeena and @samanthafavorite, I'm quoting two of the three posts, which specified absolutely any amount, even sips, as too much and as selfish. That seems extreme, given that 1-2 oz of beer or wine, which have 5-10% ABV to begin with, are not going to harm your baby. Obviously no one here wants to endanger their babies with exposure to alcohol, which is a serious risk. But there is an awful lot of hysteria surrounding eating and drinking during pregnancy, and "biting one's tongue" over another woman having a few sips of beer seems overreactive to me. That's all.
I am glad you brought this up because I wanted to clarify @adorebel
I never accused anyone of wanting to harm their baby, I said I don't see the point .. To each her own , you even quoted it for me. I had a deli sandwich the other day which some women would find equally unnecessary . I agree that there is hysteria around food and drink but with alcohol , I have some personal life experiences that shape my views on the matter. Everyone here is free to sip wine, eat cold cuts, chow down on sushi as much or as little as they want , they have never needed me to understand their choices before , they certainly don't now.
I meant no judgement!

If you read the post I made I said that while one sip does no harm and I don't judge I still wonder why only a sip? seems like may as well have none. In the sense that I don't get how one sip will "satisfy" you.
I judge (for lack of a better word, it's not like I say anything) more people who drink quite a bit during pregnancy, meaning more than a few glasses a week.

That's like saying, why have only one bite of chocolate to a dieter. Not everyone drinks to get drunk. I don't like getting drunk, but I love a certain type of wine because it's delicious. I probably won't have any, because my husband doesn't like wine and I done want to waste a whole bottle just so I can have a few sips. However, I wouldn't hesitate to if other people were around to drink the rest. This all or nothing mentality doesn't make much sense.

Well when I said that I did not mean "all" was getting drunk, but at least one full glass. I guess to me it is better not to even have a bite of chocolate or a sip of wine, but I don't even want to drink any anyways. But I get that if you have a very nice bottle, and you really want to taste it I understand the one sip then.

@blueeyedrose86, EXACTLY. A gulp of cold beer with fish tacos or a sip of red wine with a steak can really hit the spot! It complements the flavors of the food and can make you feel included in the experience of everyone else at the table, without doing harm to your baby.
I will probably never sit and drink a full glass of beer or wine during this pregnancy, even later on when it's ok to do so, simply because it's not worth the stress of worrying about how many ounces is "crossing the line" to me. But a sip of my H's beer and wine here and there? Sure. And would I judge someone else for the occasional taste or even glass? Nope.
ETA: I say this as a loss mom who has not had an easy road getting here either.

I think people are a bit misguided about the norms in Europe. I live in Belgium and while drinking is (sometimes appallingly) normal here, the official guideline here is "pregnancy = not drinking" and pregnant women who drink get judged heavily. (Although there are always people who don't comply, as in the US. To each their own.)
